And you'll be getting a lot of these answers; hitting level cap playing from the bottom in say, D&D 3.5 for argument's sake may well take you years if your games are irregular or spread out.

I find it's more a matter of when the GM decides the plot is wrapped up for most campaigns.

We just hit one year in dnd 5th, starting at lvl one, at least some of the players meeting every week except 8 sessions which were completely canceled, and we're on level 11. No other game ive been a part of went more than a month.

The most important thing about a Warhammer Army is that they're your guys, like that lowly Guardsman Sergeant who killed two terminators with nought but a chainsword and laspistol to win Close Combat, and then you name him and put a terminator helmet on his base. Or those grots who managed to tank leman Russ shots all game from hiding in a building holding ObSec. Watching someone else's army isn't the same by far

The most important things would be:

1. Good announcers who can explain what's going on and add drama to the situation.
2. Good production quality

I"d say it depends on the condition of the dread and who's in it. A chaos dreadnought in good condition with a former Chaos Lord in it could do a lot of damage to guardmen or pdf but poorly mantainted and manned by a less sane chaos marine is going to be about as dangerous as an imperial guard sentinel.

Plus they can fully utilize all of our demihuman-sized equipment and structures.
