So how do you like Kaladesh so far? The cards, the mechanics, the flair, the story, etc.
Where do you see potential? What's your opinion on WotC trying to push dwarves into white's empty "characteristic creature" slot? What do you hope to see? What do you want from Kaladesh?
>>49170065
Honestly? I liked Soldiers being whites characteristic creature.
That said, the mechanics they've added are interesting and I like the setting a decent amount.
My only big worry is stuff like vehicles and energy counters being block exclusive. It just seems like really wasted potential and limits their viability in eternal formats.
>>49170096
Soldiers are too broad and not a race.
I could totally see energy return as the Izzet mechanic the next time we visit Ravnica.
You could have asked in one of the spoilers threads...
But I'm enjoying it. I like having options, and the energy, fabricate, and vehicle mechanics offer those.
And I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I think artifacts are one of the coolest super types in the game and I'm always glad to see more. Not pushed shit like Deathcoil Wurm, but Aetherworks Marvel and Woodweaver's Puzzleknot are rad
/tg/ convince me to play a Scion only army list.
Don't, 40k might not be the worst game out there but it's certain going downhill.
They are the best looking human faction.
They have the awesome parts of the imperial guard (normal humans doing a tough job and prevailing through sheer guts and grit) while still being elite.
Optimised to kill marines, eldar and tau (i.e. the most common armies and the ones most in need of killing).

Which faction would win a dancing competition?
Which one has the best DJs?
Does Emperor have better moves than Slaanesh?
Chaos has the Masque of Slaanesh who is supposed to be an immortal and incredibly beautiful dancer, so if you are actually going by fluff then they would win.I think that Orks would be the grooviest though

No
>>49168274
>Which faction would win a dancing competition?
Chaos. Slaanesh followers would spend every waking minute grinding against each other in the club if they could. Most probably do.
>Which one has the best DJs?
As if Noise Marines weren't the best DJs already.
>Does Emperor have better moves than Slaanesh?
No, anyone can dance better than your comatose Corpse-god.
Is "magical realm" actually a thing, or is it just some meme that started because the comic that mentioned it was kind of funny? I simply cannot imagine young men describing their fetish in front of other young men. Simply getting together to pretend you're elves is already awkward enough.
>>49168156
the term itself came with the comic but it was a thing for decades before that
why do you think DnD has at least two erotic extensions?
run while you can, stay pure
It existed, that comic just gave it a name. You're not describing your fetish either, the whole thing is that you think you're being slick and inserting it into the game with none the wiser. No one does it with the intention to have the players know they're doing it, they're just neither as smart nor as subtle as they think they are.
So, in a sci fi setting with fleets of hundreds of FTL spaceships, how would you go about invading a planet of billions of people? The number of troops you'd have to carry to occupy one is... staggering, and keeping an eye on every city for signs of resistance sounds impossible.

How would a species with legitimately hermaphroditic biology, and a culture with one gender work in relation to other cultures.
What if in one particular setting there were no female Dwarves? What if they were self replicating hermaphrodites, or could only reproduce magically or something?
how would this effect relations and opinions of them from other races?
>>49165111
Depends on the species' religion(s), culture and how long they have had contact with the Herms.
A deeply pious people that has a religion where magic = satan, and where sex is between a man and a woman for the purpose of child making is not going to like magic hermaphrodites.
If all other races around them only have the regular Man/Woman genders, and don't have any knowledge about other Hermaphroditus animals like we have in the modern world, they are going to be considered fairly strange creatures just from that alone.
>>49165111
>How would a species with legitimately hermaphroditic biology, and a culture with one gender work in relation to other cultures.
They'd develop a reputation for being shameless sluts.

The city of Ascalon has fallen, all that remains is the citadel, the fortress at the heart of the city. With the capture of the Ascalon gates, Christian knights and men-at-arms fall into the city. They come from the road and the sea both, swarming from the docks, iron in hand and murder in their hearts.
A siege is an ugly business, and once the city has fallen it grows uglier still. Soldiers force their way into homes, searching for plunder and Saracens. Those common people who had been too foolish to flee to the safety of the citadel, or too blinded by faith to believe the walls could possibly fall, scream as their homes are invaded. Axes splinter doors, allowing soldiers no better than brigands to kick their way in. Saracen men, desperate to defend their women and children, throw themselves at armoured men, armed with little more than knives and fists. They offer little resistance.
Others beg for mercy before the brutal fists of invaders, mercy for themselves and their families. Few listen.
Women and girls are stripped of their modest garments and sullied, taken in doorways and bedrooms, dragged into the street to be taken in the sight of god. Commoners that fight are restrained with brutal maille'd fists, shattering bone beneath their blows. Others that try to flee in one last desperate flight at this impossible hour, are run down, trampled or skewered by lance or sword. Christian men drunk on blood lust hunt through the broken animal called Ascalon, avenging their own dead upon the bodies of the common Saracen.
Some lucky few men and women find sanctuary in the barred mosque. Likewise the Jewish quarter resists, the long street with its humble temple barricaded with whatever wood and furniture can be scavenged, terrified men, young and old, manning the barricades with hatchets and mauls, giving the advancing Christians pause.
All this rape and slaughter, flagrant looting, goes on with neither approval nor disapproval from the high lords of Jerusalem. Their business remains at the citadel, where the Saracen gentry cower, where he richest treasures wait to be plundered, and the last of the true fighting men hold out.
You are Wilhelm of Ramla, with the fall of the citadel you are promised to be Lord of Christian Ascalon. You stand before the citadel with the other high lords, all ahorsed, surrounding your queen. Melisende sits in her saddle tall and proud, eyes only on her last objective, shaded by the crown upon her brow.
Soldiers rank behind you under the banners of Christian power, under the True Cross.
A fat man stands upon the terrace of the citadel, armoured and armed, shaking his fist and shouting defiance. He is clearly terrified. Behind him, silent and stern, was grey bearded Malik ibn Mujir, an old friend.
Count Raymond of Tripoli is beside you, teeth barred and red eyed. His father had been slain upon the walls.
"Give the order and we will storm the castle," he said, hand upon his sword, eager for slaughter.
You look up at Malik and see he is watching you. Behind the two men you catch a suggestion of people huddled behind them n the archway of the terrace. Other lords are eager to storm the castle, if for nothing else than the treasury within, which was rumoured to be fat from the pillage of Christian pilgrims. Many are vocal in this, including Gerard of Sidon, who supports Raymond's suggestion with an earnest whisper to Melisende.
The Queen seems uncertain on what to do.

BY FIRE AND BLOODSHED WILL THE SARACEN BE BANISHED FROM THE LANDS OF CHRIST
DEUS VULT
Would a buddhist faction fare well in the grim darkness of the future against the chaos gods?
Short answer: As well as an icecle in an open bonfire
Long answer: If im not mistaken buddhism largely consists in peace, the belief that want if the source of suffering, that one dies and is reborn according to ones owm deeds. Gods in 40K are created by the collective mind of sentient beigns (and followers), so taking into account how "There is only war" there would be little peace seeking monks. Reincarnation is tricky due to the Warps condition (horrid) and it takes a powerful psyker to elude the attention of anything in it to reincarnate.
Then again, there have been warrior buddhist factions in real life, so maybe they could have a chance.
No, because grimderp will ensure they all die horribly.
>>49164181
> buddhism largely consists in peace

Blood Pact ogryn coversions?
Space Marines are huge, grotesque monsters with weird augments and speak an archaic form of high gothic.
How do they distinguish themselves to the people on rimworlds from any other nightmarish hell creature who carries obscene weaponry into battle?
They look human enough in shape and talk the good shit about Big E.
Does anyone else walk in around in power armor?
They tend to yell "For the Emperor!"

They're all the same and they serve zero purpose adie from pulling in some kind of conflict. They're not special, they're not (usually) interesting, anf they're not entertaining.
God forbid someone try and make sea enemies who are decent when you can just have fucking Pirates show up.
And don't get me started on player pirates, that's a whole other shitfest.

This is the current set of flakes battling.
Below is the rules:
>During each round, flakes will be assigned to random opponents in single-elimination tournament fashion.
>Flakes will be treated as though they are all neowalkers in order to create a balance of power.
>Flakes with meme-levels of power will be treated as though they weren’t.
>Flakes that directly contradict lore, especially by going against or interacting inappropriately with canon characters, will be disqualified.
>Flakes that are joke or troll flakes will be disqualified. The use of silver-bordered cards in a flake’s preferred spell list automatically disqualifies them.
>During the first round, all flakes will be placed into the roster randomly. Flakes that are disqualified will give their random opponents a bye for the round.
>During the first round, flakes will be revealed in smaller groups, noting disqualifications and asking the thread if they wish to disqualify anyone else.
>During each round, small groups of flake match-ups will be revealed
>Arguments and votes will be taken from the thread over which flake is likely to prevail over the other.
>After each round, the flakes that move on will be re-randomized on the roster to make match-ups unpredictable.
>Match-Up rules will treat both competing flakes in a match as though they are both forced into conflict with the other, and neither is allowed to planeswalk away until a winner is determined. Flakes will be treated as though they start with zero assisting summons and will not have prepared for this encounter.

Here we go
>Kahomat VS Leon
Jesus fuck Leon, and I thought I used a lot of cards.
Anyway, both of them are warriors by birth and trained as such, but Kahomat also has a direct advantage in his cobbled-together Abzan spirit magic being fucking devastating based on Anafenza's DTK UR. While all of Leon's magic is "Army harder." No Boros or fire to speak of.
Additionally, they both play to strength in numbers, but spirits are a bit harder to deal with than soldiers.
>Ka'Koarm VS Sajek
Weren't we just talking about Ka'Koarm having problems with mind magic? While it's not exactly calming him down, the Scepter of dominance forcing him to 'kneel' for a while is probably going to piss him off. If Sajek underestimates him for a second then Ka'Koarm is going to oneshot her though. Sort of like this
https://youtu.be/8q-3A7l_bw4?t=61It even fits because Sajek'll be tearing apart Ka's mind the whole time.
>Bianca VS Angelica
Bianca seems to be an entirely pacifistic healer type while Angelica's fighting style seems to be "Is a self replicating mass of acidic slime in the shape of a girl."
It's not easy to heal from acid burns is what I'm saying.
>Wyston VS Iohannes IV
Oh that's a match-up.
Wyston has no seeds of rebellion to sow in Iohannes IV army, so it comes down to their personal strengths. Unfortunately, unless he could do something decisive fast, Wyston is an aging wizard while Iohannes is a skeleton lich thing.
That said, Wyston feels like he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and feel like he can put a win out through cunning.
