Regarding "Unbound armies"

Do people use them often? I can see how this could be really abused.

For instance: Instead of having a squad of Wyvern suppression tanks I could split them up and fire at different targets instead of shooting in unbound.

Does this happen often or do most people play battleforged?

>Do people use them often? I can see how this could be really abused.

Basically everyone plays battleforged. I don't know what tournament rules are, but I've never seen someone bring unbound to a casual game.

>Do people use them often?

In my gaming circles it's very common. It led to a rapidly shifting meta in which few individual games were remotely even, and is now dominated by lolstomp Knight players and superheavies. The only Battleforged I see regularly are Eldar jetbike armies.

Shit like this is why I only play HoR kill team.

Thanks for responding so quickly!

I'll probably play battle-forged since it seems better "fluff wise". Its going to take a long time to collect all the models though.

Keep being excellent to each other.

Did a short game that was kind of a 50's sci-fi styled game of the players landing on Mars and getting attacked by weird space aliens.

It was kinda silly and we were all high at the time. *shrug*

Quick question, do artifact creatures reduce the cost of Gearseeker Serpent? Such as 1/1 colorless Thopters?

yes.

as long as they are artifact type (which thopters and other artifact creatures are), yes, they do reduce the cost.

I want to run a dungeon crawl, but I cannot decide if it should be somewhat goofy or super serious. There's tricks, traps, and monsters for both, but I'm afraid that cross-contaminating the two would just make things bad. Which one should I go for?

Dungeon crawls are boring as all hell and have no place in a realistic adventure. This isn't 1984 anymore. Learn to GM a real campaign, not something where you have to restrict players to glorified room-clearing.
>>
>>49658612
Thank you for your opinion, but that doesn't really answer my question. Could you read my post again please? I'm afraid you've misunderstood something.
>>
Only two kinds of dungeon crawl in my setting:

Either it is a magical dungeon set up by a necromage to harvest the souls of greedy adventurers bent on loot.

Or as an intro sequence to a campaign; the whole "you are imprisoned in the BBEG dungeon, and can't escape unless you work together"

I'm running an Eldritch horror campaign, I know how much you guys think it's over done but, that's not what I wanted advice on. I'm trying to determine what the feel of the other worldly creatures should be.

Should I go for the normal sort of unfathomable abominations for the party to want to rip and tear, or more angelic yet unsettling aliens?

Art of either would be helpful.

Try something new with it. Imply, if it isn't going to hurt the setting, that this world/reality is actually JUST outside the reach of Old Ones and the like, but it's still close enough that they can constantly dip their fingers in to try to gain influence through dreams and star whispers, and by gifting ideas for technology.

So the entire setting can be one where the old ones can only speak/act/see through agents in the waking world who willingly give themselves over to them, driving a lot of intrigue into the Dreamlands and the cult side of things, meaning mostly all enemies will be very strange kinds of humans who are mad/possessed, or things from the Dreamlands.

I’m starting an EDH game night and i’m looking for some fun modes that’ll keep things from getting boring.
So far the pool consists of
FFA
Archenemy
Planechase
Two Headed

We normally have 3-6 people per game, anymore and break into pods.
Are there any other modes that you know of or would recommend?

Star: five players, you win when the two opposite you have lost, so the two on either side of you have a common enemy with you but on the other hand are each other's opponents.

Me and my friends made a game type, with no less than 5 people, where there is one designated person who cannot be attacked and their whole purpose is to just throw wrenches into the game. It's honestly pretty fun, however I can see how it would be very annoying if the designated player was using certain decks or if they played as if they were trying to win.

Give them some alternative objective, like making the game last as long as possible. Their score is the number of rounds it lasts.

These are fucking awesome, i want to create a motto for an order of knights, what are some of your favorite mottos for inspiration?

What would be an old-world appropriate term for a sort of handy-work skill that covers all the basic upkeep one would preform in their spare time/while camping; cooking, patchwork, sword sharpening, etc. Not creating anything from scratch or doing anything outstanding, just the sorts of things you need to be half-good at to be truly self-sufficient in a pre-industrial world?

Handyman/Handywork doesn't roll off the tongue, or fit a game that is otherwise, thematically, set in a world comparable to the 9th~12th centuries of western Europe.

I have been running a campaign for a couple of sessions for several new players using a conversion of the night below. However, I am finding the system to be quite dull as it feels as though any noncombat encounter serves only as a pit stop to give the characters time to rest before moving on to the next combat and I find the combat to be increasingly dull and repetitive. Admittedly, I have been using the "theatre of the mind" so far and have been considering using miniatures to make the combat more interesting. However, I have been considering scrapping the campaign as we will now be taking a relatively long break due to finals and starting a new campaign using a system with better balance between combat and social encounters, such as dark heresy 1e. What might you advise, should I continue the campaign, if so how should I try and immerse the players in the world and make the campaign less combat orientated, or should I begin a new campaign entirely with a different system, I am considering unknown armies or dark heresy 1e but I am open to suggestions.

Your character or your last group, for GMs, finds the corpse of a half-orc on the road.

What does he/she do?

Search for context clues. Loot. If there were signs of a great battle, or even a valiant fight, dispense with looting and bury or burn him/her.

Look around. Search for clues who killed them, look out for ambush, examine corpse. Make a funeral pyre if we aren't in hurry.
