Ever since cartographers and sailors took it upon themselves to stitch the flat Earth into a finite, bounded globe, there've always been a few loose seams or pinholes or crumpled spots where the excess was pinned away.
Most people never even hear about the maintenance that goes into keeping everyone's local geography lined up, although they do occasionally notice that New Zealand or Sri Lanka or some other place far from their local knowledge doesn't seem to be where they remembered it.
And any misalignments can make it possible for some poor dipshit to wander over a limen and wind up in pathological geography.
The age of adventurers is past; the infinite seas and lost continents and vast unexplored interiors have been steadily papered over with maps as explorers sought to find knowable territory to bridge the gaps between the edges of the known. But, beyond the 200 million square miles that have been more-or-less successfully patched together into a closed spherical manifold embeddable in Euclidean 3-space, it's all still out there; exerting tremendous pressure on the seams of reality where it's been squeezed together into border lines between states, pinched off in the middle of oceans and continents. Maintaining it is what makes reliable trade, travel, and communication possible; and more importantly, it keeps out all the things that motivated the great project in the first place.
Somebody's got to do it - to go in there, to the spaces that aren't supposed to exist, the forgotten and abandoned and unexplored, and rescue the dipshits who've wandered in. To patch up the job, keeping the edges of the world stitched together, to ensure that going from east to west leads to the same place as west to east, reliably. And to ensure that what does leak in through the seams is controlled, that nobody has to worry again about walking into the forest lest the Fair Folk find them.
Somebody's got to make sure the world stays true to the Atlas holding it up.

War and Conquest
11th October in military history:
1531 – Huldrych Zwingli is killed in battle with the Roman Catholic cantons of Switzerland.
1649 – Sack of Wexford: After a ten-day siege, English New Model Army troops (under Oliver Cromwell) stormed the town of Wexford, killing over 2,000 Irish Confederate troops and 1,500 civilians.
1776 – American Revolutionary War: Battle of Valcour Island – On Lake Champlain a fleet of American boats is defeated by the Royal Navy, but delays the British advance until 1777.
1797 – Battle of Camperdown: Naval battle between Royal Navy and Royal Netherlands Navy during the French Revolutionary Wars. The outcome of the battle was a decisive British victory.
1862 – American Civil War: In the aftermath of the Battle of Antietam, Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart and his men loot Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, during a raid into the north.
1865 – Paul Bogle led hundreds of black men and women in a march in Jamaica, starting the Morant Bay rebellion.
1899 – Second Boer War begins: In South Africa, a war between the United Kingdom and the Boers of the Transvaal and Orange Free State erupts.
1912 – First Balkan War: The Greek Army liberates the city of Kozani.
1941 – Beginning of the National Liberation War of Macedonia.
1942 – World War II: Battle of Cape Esperance – On the northwest coast of Guadalcanal, United States Navy ships intercept and defeat a Japanese fleet on their way to reinforce troops on the island.
1954 – First Indochina War: The Viet Minh take control of North Vietnam.
1972 – A race riot occurs on the United States Navy aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk off the coast of Vietnam during Operation Linebacker.
1987 – Start of Operation Pawan by the Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka.
It is 74 years since the Battle of Cape Esperance, the second of four major surface engagements during the Guadalcanal campaign. It took place at the entrance to the strait between Savo Island and Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Cape Esperance is the northernmost point on Guadalcanal, and the battle took its name from this point.
In early October, the Japanese planned a major reinforcement convoy for their garrison on Guadalcanal. The force consisted of six destroyers and two seaplane tenders. In addition, a force of three cruisers and two destroyers was sent with orders to shell Henderson Field while the troops were delivered. Departing early on October 11, both forces proceeded down "The Slot" towards Guadalcanal.
While the Japanese were planning their operations, the Allies made plans to reinforce the island as well. Departing New Caledonia on October 8, ships carrying the US 164th Infantry moved north towards Guadalcanal. Screening this convoy was Task Force 64, commanded by Rear Admiral Norman Hall. Consisting of the cruisers USS San Francisco, USS Boise, USS Helena, and USS Salt Lake City, TF64 also included the destroyers USS Farenholt, USS Duncan, USS Buchanan, USS McCalla, and USS Laffey. Initially taking station off Rennell Island, Hall moved north on the 11th after receiving reports that Japanese ships had been sited in The Slot.
With the fleets in motion, Japanese aircraft attacked Henderson Field during day, with the goal of preventing Allied aircraft from locating and attacking their ships. As he moved north, Hall, aware that the Americans had faired badly in previous night battles with the Japanese, crafted a simple battle plan. Ordering his ships to form a column with destroyers at the head and rear, he instructed them to illuminate any targets with their searchlights so that the cruisers could fire accurately. Hall also informed his captains that they were open fire when the enemy was sited rather than waiting for orders.
Talk all about Warhammer Fantasy. Some people are still SJW-level triggered by End Times, so I'm required to say that you should limit discussion about it since it's seen as the start of AoS even though this hasn't stopped anyone. If anything, please limit the shitposting. If you don't like something (like Endhammer) just ignore it.

The threads have been slower lately. I think we should consider making this a weekend general.
Fucked up the link to the last thread, sorry.

nice to see the general back
who is the most powerful warrior of each race in the Warhammer setting? and why?
I'll post in this thread. Accidentally posted it in an offshoot WHF thread earlier. I am just learning the table top:
Say I have a unit with just fine models, and something flanks. They have one model in contact with my right most model. They kill a model, it's removed. They are now next to a blank space. Does the enemy flanking move up to meet the remainder of the unit? Does it stay that distance away and have to move next turn? Or does my unit shrink to them and go into base contact?
(I understand this is pretty wordy, and I would have drawn a diagram but I'm mobile posting from work. A page number in mini BRB would work too)
>>49706038
I only really know the lore for skaven. with them it gets odd, because the political chain is all back stabbing and deception. The strong guys are usually just brutes. After having read warp spawn, I would Say Ikit Claw is the top. Hes pretty fucking intelligent, holds his place on the council, and has a fuck ton of magi-tech.In a cut throat empire like that, lasting that long is an accomplishment

> Small village is constantly harassed and raided by a band composed of disenfranchised ex-soldiers, power hungry magicians, over-zealous and cruelly callous clerics and paladins, and physchotic murderhobos. At loss for options, the Dragon mayor convinces the village to pool what little money it has to hire the famous Kobold mercenary band, the Red Klaws, to protect them.

If there's one thing that sums up my issues with modern D&D it's "le epic nat 1 / 20"
4e was actually pretty good.
>>49783218
Last night my brother got a nat 20, but he still couldn't figure out that the guy in front of him was a woman.
Have you been giving your GM, your Players, and especially the other /tg/ users the same respect and kindness Mr. Rogers gave you for simply being his neighbor?
>>49776514
C'mon man, don't do this to me. Not today.
No, because much like Mr. Rogers I assumed my fellow man was a good person until I actually got to know him and realize he's an asshole.
>>49776633
You're implying Mr. Rodgers gave up on humanity.
Implications like that are considered heresy around here.but that's ok because Mr. Rodgers still believes you're a good person anyways.

Answering my own question:
>What is your decoder of choice?
Keymaster.
Playing Iain with Overminds/Grappling Hooks and cloud breakers. Pretty fun. I wish Criminals had cloud breakers in-faction.
Need some decks to make, I have everythng up until the end of Mumbad.
Thinking of Stealth Hayley with Switchblade, and possibly something HB for the Corp (FA with Jeeves?)
Gimme those fun decks
>>49673262
Your taste in decks are in line with those of a friend of mine who played those decks you mentioned.
His next decks were Hayley spycam recursion and HB FA with Assembly lines recursion for economy.
Right now he's playing Nexus Kate, same Corp.
Which faction has the worst fanbase and why Tau?

Lawful good lich/necromancer
Is it possible?
/tg/ has discussed this pretty extensively over the years.
>>49775326
It used to be. But then so many people made lawful good necromancers that demand outstripped supply, and the species was hunted into extinction. Now they are no more.
>>49775326
I'm playing one so yes, it is possible.
If dubs, Revenants will be fixed in January.

Are Dark Angels are the most shit first founding chapter? They have no noteworthy achievements their specialization is boring as fuck (wow muh unreliable plasma weapons), their color scheme is dull, their name sounds like something a 15yo metalcore fan could come up with they are just all around garbage.

Thoughts on this game? Do you think it accurately captures the Planescape setting?
Story is good, especially if you follow all the optional branches. But the interface had not aged gracefully.
If any game actually could benefit from an Enhanced Edition (strictly in order to improve the graphics and interface), it's this one.
Not to mention that no matter what new NPCs Beamdog was to come up with for it, they couldn't possibly more weird than the extant NPCs.
>>49761035

But they could be more faggoty LQTB2SBBQ. And every one of them could have romance options, even Ignus.
