Now I'm DMing for a new group and just started a new campaign as a player under a different DM. Things are looking up, the new group isn't retarded and the new DM is cool with letting us feel like heroes.

If you want to give a twist to non-violent approach first, you could pretend to be vampires yourself using Death arcana. Death can be also used instead of Life for some spells which wouldn't work on vamps because of their alternatively-alive status.

Magic is slow as all get out. I'm talking hour+-long rituals here. If you want to get anything done on an adventuring timescale that usually means either doing it with something other than a spell or the swordsmen guarding the sorcerer from waves of monsters while the sorcerer waves a wand around and chants and not doing much of immediate significance.

The Deathless use positive energy and run an island paradise full of elves by being obnoxiously conservative super elves, to the point that a bunch of fucking ELVES got tired of waiting for things to change and fucked off to the mainland to breed horses and fuck up the neighbors with swords.

The Blood of Vol cult plays it much more traditionally, wanting to make all the cool people immortal vampires and all the uncool people bloodbags, and they chatted up the leadership of not-russia and made him a vampire, then he realised they were dicks and broke out, banned them from the country, but kept all the cool necromancy shenanigans. Karrnath is maybe not "good", but the undead levies are tradition now and Kaius I is devoted to protecting the peace in Karrnath.

Ironically, he's opposed by the youngish CG queen of notamerica, who wants to restart the last war because "We wuz winnin!"

The year is 1631 and the Thirty Years War rages on. The Swedish army is on the march to Würzburg, which is the region’s most important political, religious, and thanks to the Marienburg Fortress, military center. Karlstadt is directly in the army’s path, and many fear that the army is keen on taking revenge for the sack of Magdeburg. The Swedish anger is further stoked by Swedish king Adolphus's hatred of witches, and belief that the Prince-Bishop and populace of Catholic heretics are abiding witchcraft. The army will reach its destination in 8 days.

Rumors say that 10 days ago, a group of sorceresses known as The Seven overthrew the ruling class of Karlstadt and laid down their own law: "There will be No More War", disarming the people and closing down all of the churches. The Prince-Bishop o fWürzburg, secluding his own men behind the city walls, has promised a bounty of 1,000 silver pieces for the head of each of The Seven, 10,000 silver pieces if the heads of all seven are delivered.

We currently have 3 players (including me) but could use more.
