It is 2,218 years since the Battle of Zama, the deciding engagement in the Second Punic War (218-201 BC). A Roman army led by Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus (Scipio), with crucial support from Numidian leader Masinissa, defeated a Carthaginian force led by the commander Hannibal, despite Hannibal possessing numerical superiority. This was because many in his army were recent conscripts, and the vaunted Numidian cavalry which Hannibal had employed with great success in Italy had by then switched sides to the Romans. Scipio had conceived of a strategy to confuse and defeat Hannibal's war elephants, and then his force routed the Carthaginian infantry, thanks in part to superior Roman cavalry. Defeated on their home ground, the Carthaginian ruling elite sued for peace and accepted humiliating terms.

At the beginning of the War in 218 BC, the Carthaginian general Hannibal had boldly crossed the Alps and attacked into Italy, sweeping Roman armies aside. In the wake of these triumphs, he marched south looting the country and attempting to force Rome's allies to defect to Carthage's side. Stunned and in crisis from these defeats, the Romans avoided battle with Hannibal's army, instead raiding the Carthaginian supply lines and practicing attritional warfare. Rome soon proved unhappy with these methods and but an invasion was routed at the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC.

Following his victory, Hannibal spent the next several years attempting to build an alliance in Italy against Rome. As the war on the peninsula descended into a stalemate, Roman troops, led by Scipio Africanus, began having success in Iberia and captured large swaths of Carthaginian territory in the region. In 204 BC, after fourteen years of war, Roman troops landed in North Africa with the goal of directly attacking Carthage.

So, I like the Helforged Warpack as a way to "spam Maulerfiends", but I feel the formation as a whole could have been done better.

I drafted a homebrew rewrite. I want to know your thoughts; anything that's OP, or "on the dot"?

Helforged Warpack: The thing that bugs me about the formation is that the Warpsmith's bonus "Master of Mechanical Warpcraft" is based on the Warpsmith staying alive, and hiding out of retaliation range, rather than any proactive bonus (like the Black Legion one where he could grant WS4/BS 5 to a model within 12"). Rewrite it to:

Master of Mechanical Warpcraft: At the start of the player turn, the Warpsmith may choose one of 3 abilities:
-Mend the Fleshmetal: Restore 1 HP/wound to all models in this formation within 12" of the Warpsmith.
-Stoke the Flames: Restore any "one use" items (Daemonforge/Combiweapons) to all units in this formation within 12" of the Warpsmith. (Combo with Eye of Night)
-Reforge Reality: All units in this formation may 12" of the Warpsmith to immediately move D6", regardless of whether they're Immobilized or Engaged in close combat, ignoring intervening models or terrain. Models that are in a Close Combat may disengage as though they had passed a Hit and Run check, and move D6".

Warpack Alpha One vehicle model from the Helforged Warpack must be nominated as the Warpack Alpha. The Warpack Alpha gains the (Character) unit type, the Champion of Chaos special rule, and a 4+ Invulnerable Save. While the Warpsmith is alive, the Warp Pack Alpha has the Favored Scions rule and may use the Warpsmith's Weapon Skill and Ballistic Skill in place of its own. Additionally, while the Warpack Alpha is alive, all vehicles in this formation have an additional Special Rule depending on what your Alpha is:
--Defiler: Power Of The Machine Spirit
--Forgefiend: Ignore Cover
--Helbrute: Rampage
--Maulerfiend: Siege Crawler

Thoughts?

I'm making a Daemons of Tzeentch army and I need some assistance with schemes/conversion.
I'd really like to make them super bright and colorful, kind of like pic related (google Louise Sugden Art for more). I don't think I'll make mine quite as busy, but I do like the vibrancy. Best ways to go about that?

I'm also converting some Imperial Knights as an allied renegade detachment and I'm gonna sculpt lots of eyes and feathers to go on their armor panels. I have a problem though: I have no idea how to sculpt eyes, and need some good tutorials for that.

>Eyes without life... sundered heads... piles of carcasses... these are pleasing words to me...

And so at last we reach the final act of the Saga of the Horned God. The barbarian hero Slaine has gathered the four Treasures of the Godess – the Spear of Sun, the Silver Sword of the Moon, the Cauldron of Blood and the Sacred Stone of Destiny – and united the Celtic tribes as High King and Horned God of the Land of the Young. Ready to face them are the Drunes of the Lord Weird Slough Feg, the Old Horned God, their demonic Formorian allies and their dark god, the Time Worm Crom Cruach, the Bloody Maggot who feeds on the darkest impulses of the human heart. The battle lines have been drawn. No quarter shall be asked for, and none shall be given...

As well as several direct tabletop adaptations of Slaine's universe, these stories can provide inspiration for different takes on the hyper-masculine barbarian archetype, pagan superstition and the bloody worship of ancient Gods (where even the "good" guys are axe-wielding maniacs who can transform into hideous beasts). While this final part of the Saga consists almost entirely of ultraviolent action, there are also some good speeches, a few twists, some gnarly abominations, and a final climactic confrontation between the Old and New Horned Gods which delivers on many years worth of build-up.

Preparing for a Early War Tournament when it comes around, feel like doing the T-35s again. Want feedback on the list.

Last year it was from Rising Sun but had:
Command T-35
3x T-35
3x T-35
5x BA-6s
Artillery battery of 4x 122mm Obr 1910/30 guns
Chaika with Bombs.

The Armoured Cars aren't recon, but there's basically no recon available to either of these lists. The Tsarist era guns were useless beyond belief, I wouldn't trust them to hit the ground. The Barbarossa Chaikas trade bombs for rockets, same to-hit, one extra AT, and one less FP.

Bang. V4 confirmed for march/april next year assuming things don't go wrong.

Things will be streamlined similar to TY, but it will certainly not be a TY copy; for example, motivation/skill ratings will remain a thing.
They're still working on it, so any constructive comments they receive now will be taken into account (which is one of the reasons they're bringing this info forward now).
Book size will be similar to TY. A lot of the trimming down will be by not addressing every minute nuance/edge case in the main rules, shifting that online.

Current Early and Late War books will remain valid, virtually everything in them will still work fine.
There will be a LLW compilation at some point, which will follow V3 standards (and viable to use with V3 rules) but be written with V4 in mind.

Mid-War will be given a TY-style rework with unit cards and loads of plastics, starting with Brits/Germans then adding more NA stuff before going to the Eastern Front.
As with TY, cards will not be required, but they're looking at options to get them to players who want them because they already have the minis.
Points values will probably be TY-style.
Release for this is intended to be basically simultaneous with the main V4 rules.

They've got two separate external rules writers working on converting Vietnam and AIW to Team Yankee, including new forces in there as well.
This includes the Yom Kippur War.
Points values for this will be another era, basically Early Cold War, but 'nam and AIW will be fully compatible.
Also, plastic Hueys in the pipeline.

They do intend to make purchases in Forces not wasted, probably by giving you the new V4 version of a list if you bought the V3 version.

>unit cards
There are well over 600 distinct units in FOW (no easy way of using the Forces tool to count MW-specific ones). Let's grossly underestimate the number of unit types that could conceivably exist in V4 for that era and say there's only 200. They now have to make 200 different unit cards and use of thousands of dollars for reasons that don't make sense. Look at your own post:
>cards will not be required
There's going to be a fucking warehouse filled with unit cards for no goddamn reason, just like how it used to be filled with units nobody bought but they still carried like 50 of them just in case not talking about the units people actually wanted, those were/are months away.

It does gives us useful hints. The cards probably won't have training/morale since that could easily triple or quadruple the number of cards involved. We'll also have to see a HUGE cutback on non-universal special rules--there are a noticeable number of vehicles that have gimmicks you can only get in a single list for example, and omitting them from the unit cards would be fucking lunacy and negate the entire point of a unit card, namely having a definitive list of what your unit actually does.

So, finished Zatanna, decided to try doing her cousin. In lore, he basically does the same thing Zatanna does, but he's less powerful and can't directly affect people. The card is actually based on an earlier draft of Zatanna that turned things face down, trying to play with her magician aspect by treating the cards in Magic as actual cards, not representations of things.

Posted in the last thread but whatever.

In the spirit of /tg/ occasionally getting shit done, I wanted to share a creation with the community. I don't know if anybody actually plays Dive Into the Sky anymore, but I personally just discovered Strike Witches a month or so ago and was motivated to create this supplement for that RPG.

Have fun with it, or not. Whatever. I just wanted to share.
