If /tg/ had a 40k tournament, what would be the maximum points and rules?

I think large point game would be good as it means, imperial guard can use large formations of tanks and baneblades.

As for rules. I think the only thing that needs to be forbidden is titans and of course knights are allowed because they aren't true titans.

The exact cost of a single conscript with basic weapons and nothing else. It's the only way to be balanced.

This happened a while ago so I may mess up my memory of events.
>Using Ayla Promo figure as my guy.
>Tutorial fight.
>Group is all jovial about running it since it's our second run.
>I use my Founder Stone for the +1 Str boost.
>First round goes by, survival is getting burned up. But things are going well.
>Second round, Decapitation.
>Third round, keep doing our thing, which is to beat lion with rocks. Do 2 good wounds.
>Fourth round, Decapitation.
>Fifth round, lion is still fairly healthy and Zachary (one of the male PCs) gets mauled and loses a leg. His movement goes down to 3 and he has trouble making it to the Lion after being knocked back.
>Oh shit.
>Next round, Ayla goes berserk (ie I get super lucky) and castrates the Lion.
>That also means I can't lose the Priority Target token. It's literally a 1v1 fight to the death.
>Manage to somehow survive a few rounds thanks in particular to a miraculous double 1 on a Maul.
>Tear the Lion apart with fist and teeth with Zachary.
>After the battle I get a Bone Axe and I think a skull helmet.
>Group decides I can group the Lion Testicles until we have the Catarium for a Frenzy Potion.
>On the next Hunt we do Lion again, we get a ton of leather and a Mane. Lose 1 and my helmet gets destroyed. Not to bad. We start making buildings and innovating (can't remember what we did first) and bits for a full Rawhide set.
>Get a mantle for that sweet +1 head protection and of course, frenzy potion. We make a bow for the designated archer. I think we have a spear as well.
>Decide to fight the Spider year 3.
>Have not faced Spider at all yet.
>During the hunt phase someone gets a Steel Shield and Swords by rolling triple or quad 0s or something equally ridiculous. They're really good. But the shield also makes you really slow.
>Awesome who cares about being slow.
>Reach spider fight.
>Realize she's fast as fuck. Also realize we don't have a great way of killing lots of tiny spiders.
cont.
>>
>>49871933
>Spearman gets surrounded and eaten over the next few rounds as we desperately hack legs off.
>Link (Steel sword and Shield) can't get close to the main spider and tries to thin the herd.
>Archer hits the Trap and instantly gets devoured.
>Frenzy up, can kill spiders and save Link or go for the mad dash and try to kill the bitch.
>Can't quite kill her, but do a couple more wounds.
>Get swept by a rogue spiderling. Knocked down.
>Link starts bleeding heavily but he's still on his feet. Screams at Ayla to stand up and finish the job.
>Stand Up.
>Mad dash again, completely ignoring everything but the queen.
>Just have to put her down.
>This goes on for at least two more rounds before I finally kill her.
>Link is bleeding out and heavily wounded but he survives and kills most of the spiderlings.
>My characters picks up the shallow lungs disorder.
>Many huzzahs.
>Year 4.
>Butcher.

I also heard about this and signed up for the newsletter so i could get in early. It looks like the raw game was about a 100 and it got expensive with all of the expansions. Do you think the price will stay close to the same? I want in on this but 500 seems like a lot if thats just the game. I might bend to 200 without any of my friends help. Also any news when it might be? Ive heard 'soon' since may.

I visit the Gaming store in my area when ever I feel like a change of surroundings. It's a small store like 70% of it is taken up by tables and the rest is for the /tg/ kinda stuff and it's across the way from a coffee place so you get that comfy feel going in.The staff is about 3 guys that I've noticed, helpful but know to let some browse.

Outside of the locals I don't see it getting much business but recently my friends that go there had a small talk with me about the store and community there cause they saw I had an interest in trying a few things. Bottom lining it, the store owner from what was told to me has a petty streak in him a mile long and can be a napoleon of the store cause in this area it has a monopoly and he knows it, he likely isn't that bad but its discouraging. Another friend of mine just mentioned that I was just a better person than those in that community, he used to game but I'm not sure now.

I always had an interest in tabletop gaming but what can you do if the only place seems to have toxic people? Sorry for the blog but I'm just giving you my experience as an outsider to it. I can be diplomatic except when someone is being an ass I tend to call them out on it. Any advice would help.

Also whats the learning curve like for someone who wants to get into tabletop? again sorry for the blog

What part of the tabletop interests you, anon? Wargaming, RPG, painting?
So far, you have only expressed a desire to play tabletop and heard bad things about the owner and community. Go see for yourself if it is as bad as you've heard. If it is, then there are always other options. If not, then you have what sounds like a rather cozy store to play in.
>>
>>49871483
I feel my local store owner is a bit like that, at the sametime he's very open and helpful.

It's just the way you approach people, I see him as a means to an end and if you ask the correct questions a source of knowledge and help.
>>
>>49871483
Learning curve is entirely dependent on what you're getting into and who your community is.

I respond to toxic communities in meatspace by gaming online instead.

Has anyone tried this before? I'm sure it's not that popular given the fact that you need a 800 dollar VR head set to even try to play it.

Is it any good? How about the community?

So, I cooked up this weird little quest. It kind of developed and grew into this.

>Party gets word that a mysterious tower has been spotted not far away, it appeared overnight.
>Get sent down to it, and they inspect it. It's made of large stone bricks, and looks like it would take a long time to construct. Lots of human sized footprints seem to be in the area of the tower, suggesting occupation of the tower.
>Adventurers go inside through the heavy double wooden doors. It smells damp and musty inside, but nothing seems amiss.
>They venture through the first floor and the place seems abandoned. If they go back to the entrance they get lost, and cannot find the door.
>They continue up the stairs to the next floor, generated however the DM wishes with encounters tailored to the groups level.
>As they progress further and further up, the fights get a little harder and harder. The name of the game here is attrition. They have to sleep at some point.
>The night they sleep, they wake up to 1 acid damage as they lay on the floor. Any bedrolls they slept on are partially destroyed due to some sort of perspiration on the ground and walls.
>It's now a race to the top, as they will take periodic acid damage, they're on a timer.
>the stone walls seem to warp, like the place is crushing in on its self.
>They get to the very top to fight the last encounter, and notice the "roof" is domed, the cracks between the bricks revealing some sort of membrane.
>They realize "holy shit, this tower is a creature" as they cut through and fight their way through a slough of organs to get to the beating heart they hear vividly pounding.
>Cut the heart to kill the monster, they all feel their bodies whip to a side, cushioned by organs, and hear a loud crash. This opens the top as the "dungeon" slides to one side of the tower, giving them an escape route to the digestive tract.
>Cut their way out and come out of the butthole of the tower, looking at the bottom they see thousands of humanoid feet

A player who was supposed to join us today is not showing up (got stuck on work to late hours due to some inspection) and I need a simple plot to keep my group entertained for one session. I don't even need a whole module. Just some plot in a large D&D city - and /tg/ is usually awesome with plots.

They are currently in Neverwinter, they are level 3 (its 5e), they are pretty broke and willing to take on pretty much any job. But i'd take any idea, also something that does not mean reward. Anything tomake session fun or weird or both.

thanks

Didn't FF straight lift from DD way back then. It shouldn't be hard to home brew a game yourself.
>>
>>49870559
FF1 borrowed a lot from AD&D, yes. But both have branched out and changed a lot from their beginnings.
>>
>>49870573

Well I guess my question is what makes a campaign FF? DnD is defined by it's rules but FF is really just varying flavors of fluff.

You don't need a whole rule set to search for elemental crystals or ride chocobo mounts

I want to run a game that's a bit of a mix of Transformers and Fallout.

The basic premise is that during a war in the near future the US military built warmachines with advanced AI and camouflage systems.
They were used in covert operations around the world to protect US interests and could take on the shape of any vehicle they scanned.
Then the nukes fell and the world went to shit.

But how do you balance a system around all of the vehicles that players could choose from?

And how do you balance someone who chooses a tank for his vehicle form and someone that chooses a racecar?

>But how do you balance a system around all of the vehicles that players could choose from?
I'd break them up into general categories, for one.

Low speed, high power vs high speed, low power.

I've never played with a skilless system.

Holy sword that cannot hurt good people but does super damage against evil people.

super super evil villain who eats babies slowly is immune to the sword because he wears a magical amulet that registers his aura as good.

Is this acceptable?
27 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>49869840
No, those ideas are both shit
>>
It's kind of unimpressive as a legendary weapon if it's easily tricked, and usually that sort of thing only makes your aura "appear" good (which is pretty pointless if you're eating babies)
Otherwise it's a shitty premise, but you could just attack the ring first I guess
