I am very desperate /tg/ and I very much need you're help.

I'm running an oriental style campaign for my friends. I'm having a flurry of ideas and am very excited about this campaign. I want to make it story driven yet sandboxy in a way.

I want to make multiple npc's all with they're own personal goals and let the characters decide who to help. At the same time i am making a primary threat in this campaign as well, im making it to whwre one of the kingdoms makes a pact with an Oni Overlord that opens a portal and unleashes demons n such. Im drawing a lot of inspiration from the Onimusha games :P

Anyways, how can I make the players decisions have consequences based on the NPC's they decide to help, yet still have an end goal to destroy the primary threat?

I want the players to really think about which NPC's they choose to help and such. Make they're decisions have consequences.

Also, how would i make a primary threat (such as a oni army) yet still make the NOC personal goals still seem important. Like for example, if there is this huge roaming army of Oni destroying the land, what would be a justifiable excuse for the NPC's not to work tofether to defeat it? How can i make the NPC's feel as if there goals are more still important and have impact and that the players should still focus on that as well? ...if any of that makes sense......... Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Anyone else love how "video gamey" 4e is? We've been playing the same campaign for years now, and the mechanics can just ramp up to such a massive fucking skill ceiling.
>DM throws together these crazy fucking boss fights that demand we immediately adapt, learn mechanics, and execute shit perfectly
>roleplaying aspects are still valid and skill challenges consist of curveballs on the DM's part and players justifying the use of skills from their character's perspective, instead of a fixed list of skills

We just went through this wild scion of Tiamat boss fight where we were all basically cycling across five different elemental platforms, ping-ponging a friendly spirit between each of us for protection, focusing down specific heads, and managing synergistic powers like motherfuckers.

What shocks me is the fact that for the entirety of 4e's published life, nobody ever once thought to make a 4e vidya gaem. Like, legit Knights of the Chalice-type shit, which would work with the mechanics fantastically and be a no-brainer to put on tablets/phones. It's surprising.

The problem is that there are so many off-turn decisions to make in 4e that it would cause combat rounds to drag on for quite a while

You could just say that all off-turn powers activate the first time per-combat they can, but that removes a tactical element of the game that is entirely focused on tactics

So my group has allowed for alcohol at the table for a while now, and we've always been able to control ourselves with it. However, since we've started our new Ravenloft campaign our DM and others have been hitting the sauce hard. We just left a session and nothing of consequence happened because they were all too drunk to finish. How do I keep them from drinking too much while still allowing alcohol at the table?

We were drinking Rum and Moonshine. I'm thinking we should find less heavy stuff

1. Thought-Knot Seer: I don't even think there's an argument against this at the #1 spot. It's widely played in Modern, Legacy, AND Vintage, and it's probably the most impactful creature since Deathrite Shaman.

2. Nahiri, the Harbinger: Like Jace, Vryn's Prodigy last year, this card was this year's supposedly jank planeswalker that came out of nowhere and proved to be an amazing card. A clear #2 in my opinion.

3. Prized Amalgam: Prior to the release of this card, Modern Dredge was unplayable. This card single handedly made Dredge tier 1 in the format, in a similar fashion to how Siege Rhino revived Modern Junk back in 2014. Definitely the #3 card of 2016.

Biggest Failures of 2016:

Chandra, Torch of Defiance: The card that wins the 2016 "Golden Narset" Trophy. A planeswalker that was hyped to oblivion but turned out to be garbage.

Gisela, the Broken Blade: People hailed this as the new Baneslayer Angel. They were so, very wrong.

Arlinn Kord: Was hyped to hell, but not as much as Chandra. The real reason this makes the list is that it's this year's Kytheon: a planeswalker that was hyped, while the real star of the set was the walker that everyone bashed.

I don't even think #1 and #2 are up for debate, it's TKS and Nahiri (respectively), no question about it. The rest is up for debate as to what order they should be in, but Queller, Copter, Deep Fiend, Amalgam, Kalitas, Flayer, Blue Hulk, and Recruiter of the Guard should make up the remaining 8 spots of the top 10.

Chaotic evil wants to watch the world burn for whatever inane reason they have, and doesn't like being told what to do.

Neutral Evil is a jackass who'll do anything to further his own ends, whether that be play it cool or strike out by himself.

Chaotic Neutral is their own person. They don't listen to anybody but themself, and couldn't give a shit about most people save for those they actually care about. They're in it for the adventure.

and it totally made up my mind for what I'm replaying after I've finished my New Vegas replay (which I just did). It's good, if you loved Bloodlines you'll enjoy it.

2) Bloodlines general - I'll prompt with THIS question first. If you could have added one thing to this amazing work of perfection, what would it be? As grand or in depth as you like. I think for me a Sabbat defection option would be a lot of fun, preferably with a big work up to fighting a post-Diablerie LaCroix or just killing the weakened but waking Antedeluvian? Far fetched and ridiculous tabletop terms but it'd be neat if you could get a few really strong Sabbat Methuselahs on your side to make it believable. You could still be offered the choice to Diablerie it or not, with doing so being the "wrong" choice where you're punished in a similar way to opening the Sarcophagus by having your identity erased and replaced by the Ancient one.
What about you guys? What would you add - as much or little as you like.

3) I just reinstalled it. Help me decide, /tg/ - what should I roll up? My most recent play was a stealth oriented Torrie with persuasion for social just after I did an Auspex/Dementation focused Malk with firearms and seduction.
I'm down for anything else, I've done just about everything once, but it's been a long time since I did most of the other clans, that playthrough was a year ago. Tell me what clan to do and what skills to focus on - and to make it a bit more /tg/ (and incentivize you guys to be creative) I may just post some in character journals/recaps of my adventures in this playthrough. Anyone game to play with me?
