Basically we're running a big dark heresy game with a bunch of oneshots connected by a meta narrative. We need a lot of players- I recommend stopping by and atleast checking it out, even if you're not sure. We aren't starting right away due to me and some of the other DMs being busy for the near future so right now we're just trying to get all of the leg work done and ready.

Looking for a game that plans to have fun. I'm still kinda new to all of this so my roleplaying will be amateurish but I aim to improve. Can provide character concept if needed beforehand.

/tg/ tell me about the elite troops/special forces of your setting. The SAS, the Spetsnaz, the Sacred Band; what makes them badass?

How powerful are they compared to your party?

What is their purpose?

Which ones? Some SWAT team from Bumfuck Nowhere? Or Spetsgruppa B?

It's not MY setting, but I do have a homebrew Imperial Guard unit that I'm planning a game of Only War for. Might borrow some shit from Dark Heresy, considering what they do.

They specialize in fighting other humans, because their special thing that all Guard units have is that they'll be dropped into enemy-controlled human cities (could be Chaos Secessionists, could be Gue'la/Gue'vesa territories, could be random-ass Separatists who leave for a million different reasons) and embed themselves in the culture, acting as a sort of human equivalent of a Genestealer cult or a Lictor brood.

Then, a night or two before the Imperium strikes (or when the Imperium is striking) the planet or hive in question, these guys bust out all of their fighting kit and do what they can to destabilize the enemy. Could be killing off heads of state or important officers of their military, could be striking important powerplants, could be releasing inmates from their prisons on the soft parts of the city so the enemy has to relocate forces to deal with them, could be a lot of other things.

When they're not doing that job, they're generic city fighters who do lots of high-speed low-drag room-clearing and whatnot. Kit involves a homegrown lasgun based on the Triplex so it does a ton of close-up damage because of its burst mode (suppressed, folding stock), a suppressed laspistol, a pair of mono-knives (it's 'cos if the first one breaks, see?), an absolute TON of grenades and demo-charges, and their armor consists mostly of light Synskin (a tad lighter than flak armor in terms of protection, but makes them invisible to heat-vision and NVGs and is very light and flexible and can be worn under clothes) and a flak vest.

I like 'em. Lots of social infiltration and spy shit with that culminates in a single night of ridiculous levels of violence, all done in a very MGS/ARMA/Republic Commando operator fashion.

Isn't power armour integrated into a space marines nervous system? Doesn't it increase a space marines speed and strength?

Why does kharn not have armour on his axe arm?

Wouldn't it slow him down or make him weaker?

>also who would win in an arm wrestling match?

>Kharn or a terminator?

>>
>>49957989
Kharn is such a baller that it would make him weaker to have the armor. It can't keep up with him.
>>
>>49957989
>Wouldn't it slow him down or make him weaker?
I doubt it matters with all the power that Khorne is doubtlessly pumping into him.
>>
>>49957989
Kharn is actually one of the few special characters that have a higher base strength than regular marines, so he is literally stronger by himself than a space marine in power armour is normally.

For all your questions on Dark Heresy (1st and 2nd Editions), Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Only War.
Not the wargame. Not Chapter Master. Or Space Hulk.

Not sure between starting Dark Heresy 1e and 2e? Pick 2e.

Book Repositories (If you're planning to download any Rogue Trader materials, read the .txt file in the RT directory)
https://mega.nz/#F!Pl0UgbJa!vDtTXMKnvZ26fUbuw4X9tg

There is a new Homebrew Megafolder option in above MEGA directory containing several things formerly listed individually on this post.

40K RPG tools, a site that contains stats or references for almost all weapons, armor and NPCs/adversaries. Not updated past DH2 core.
http://www.40krpgtools.com/

40k RPG Combined Armory (v6.45.160417), containing every piece of gear in all five lines. Now containing some of the DH2 content up to the first supplement.
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/i3akv9qx9q05z

Mars Needs Women! (v1.2.9) (Mechanicus Skitarii and Taghmata for Only War)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/qbw0bnnggwfl4mb

Fear and Loathing in the Eastern Fringe (V1.6.4) (Playable Xenos for Rogue Trader)

The Fringe is Yours! (v1.8.4) (More Xenos, Knights, and Horus Heresy gear for Rogue Trader)

Volkite weaponry is in the Burning of Prospero box, and most likely coming to "normal" 40k as a result. We have stats for it - how do you incorporate into your games things once rare until retconned to be common?

According to at least the old armour article, which is pretty much echoed in the 7e special edition SM codex:
>MkI
Very simple with no environmental protection nor fully powered, but very common at the time and offered protection and enhanced strength, if nothing else.

>MkII
Space age power armour designed with all the bells and whistles an elite space marine would need to spread the dominion of Man. Segmented plates would offer the most comfort, but at the cost of being very hard to repair and maintain, which became an issue on the long run. Still thought by some marines to be the best suit.

>MkIII
Heavily modified MkII with closed space combat in mind. Weaker rear armour to compensate for the additional plates. Most likely somewhat more sealed and protected against vacuum and hazardous environments one might encounter in facilities or space ships. Never designed as a permanent replacement or something you'd equip entire units with, more as an optional gear for certain units. Uncomfortable and heavy.

>MkIV
With new tech and materials flooding in from conquests and the problems of maintaining and repairing the MkII and III sparks the development of a new suit. Instead of segmented plates it has solid plate design, which is less mobile, but offer great increases in production cost and maintenance time. Suit built with everything learned from the Great Crusade and good enough for Horus to try and get all of his allies equipped with them before the Heresy.

>MkV
Suit design made in no time to answer the call of "we need new suits yesterday." Taking the simple solid plate armour design of the MkIV and mating it with as much pre-MkIV tech as possible to produce a hideous, but working suit of armour. Inferior armour materials required extra plating, which put a strain on the systems. Cabling was too thick to fit under the plates, so it was left external. Helmet taken from Indomitus and modified for PA use. Not many chapters use them after the Heresy.

If you don't know the story of Old Man Henderson, the character who "won" Call of Cthulhu, it's pretty awesome. I stumbled across the story not too long ago, and have been inspired by it to unleash that madness upon a particularly inept and controlling GM on a roleplay forum game series I've frequented over the past year or so. To that end, I'm currently trying to find some way to understand the process by which Old Man Henderson was created. The only way I can think of to do this is to seek out the man behind the madness, the legendary Waffle House Millionaire himself. However, searching through the archives I've found that his most recent thread was in November of 2012. I know that somebody trolled using his name sometime before that (I believe you call such users "namefags") but to my understanding, the issue was resolved. His last recorded activity that I was able to find was his comments on the fourth and final part of A Self Called "Nowhere"'s Director's Cut of the Old Man Henderson story. I'm wondering if he's still active at all anywhere or on the Internet in general. If he is here, and he somehow finds this or I find him, I'd like to ask him how he went about writing over three hundred pages of backstory in two days. I won't ask to see the Backstory of Doom; I know he burned it and I could never hope to match it. What I want is to achieve a similar effect with my own character, who at this point has all of recorded history and plenty of unrecorded history to play with due to dead and recreated universes and metaphysical what-the-fuckery. That was the only way I could even think of to come close to matching the functionality of WHM's evil creation. Despite this, the document I've made to contain this backstory has only reached 12 pages, the first two of which are occupied by his character sheet and "official" abilities and equipment. I've even enlisted the help of friends both irl and online to contribute via an online version. This is why I seek WHM's aid.

Fresh off the 1d4chan boat I see. Protip; that wiki's woefully out of date.

Old Man Henderson is an ancient meme based on a lie-ridden greentext story. Very little of it was ever likely true, and what was true was almost certainly exaggerrated for effect. And even if it's all true, then it paints a picture of a spineless GM and a disruptive fag of a player.

As for
>have been inspired by it to unleash that madness upon a particularly inept and controlling GM on a roleplay forum game series
>roleplay forum game

It's a play by post. Just unzip your katana and teleport behind someone. Basically the same thing as what Henderson did.

Also learn to break up your paragraphs goddamn.

So how do the dragons always manage to pile up the treasure into a pile? They have huge fucking claws that I doubt are much good for piling up coins. And how do they get the treasure out from the pockets of adventurers they kill?

>>
>>49954500
Depends on what sort of dragon. Smaug here didn't rack up the gold, he just killed all the dwarves and sleeps in the treasury.

Though some dragons might have servants (most usually do) and they could easily make their kobold slaves dig around and give tribute to their dragon.
>>
I'd assume they just bring everything, body and all, and let whatever pests dwell in the cave clean up the flesh while leaving the Gold

Maybe they just eat it all and the Gold eventually goes into the scales and the treasure is just a giant pile of golden scales that fell off as the years went by

Too many times I see you guys complaining about not having a group to play with, so I thought I'd see what I could find in the way of helping fa/tg/uys find a group.

I found Gamefindr:

http://gamefindr.co

Simply put, it's a mobile Social networking app where people go to find local groups based on your listed gaming systems. Basically your average dating app, repurposed for the hobby. It even includes an LGS finder.

Anyway, if you have any other suggestions for sites that could help the lonely members of /tg/, feel free to suggest them.

Running a series of short GURPS 'alt-history' games, each set in a unique battlefield. I reserve the right to set some in speculative future settings too.

Sheets will be 'par-baked', ie premade with a some left over points to customise and all fluff fields left blank to be filled.

The first two settings will be a wolfenstein-inspired WWI commando mission involving supernatural elements followed by a post-waterloo Naploeonic War battle where chemical weapons are in common use. Expect high-lethality and fairly crunchy rulesets.

Have a 100% unrelated image.

I'm looking for someone to run a solo campaign of Exalted. "Wow," you might ask. "Who could be so extraordinarily selfish and narcissistic as to request a solo game of one of the more difficult systems to GM for?" Well, me- because you'll never get a game if you never ask.
>But why you?
I'm a reliable player and a decent writer who can craft characters with believable motivations and ambitions. I'm fine with whatever kind of story the GM wants to tell, but my characters always have clear goals and a desire to achieve them, so they also won't flounder in a sandbox. If there's something specific you want from a campaign, or something you wouldn't want to try with a group, I'm your Huckleberry.

My name is Erin. I am new to Roll20 but not to table top gaming. I rolled my first bard when I was 12 back in the 2E days and I played dungeons and dragons consistently through high school and college. I'm mostly familiar with 3.5 but I'm interested in 5E and Pathfinder as well. I am 30 years old now and sadly I have very few opportunities to game these days. I LARP once a month, but I'd really enjoy a chance to play games that don't require spending 3 days away from home as well. I live on the east coast of America but I work the night shift so I need games that play in off hours so gaming groups in Europe and Australia are of especially high interest to me.

I prefer Skype over Discord or the Roll20 Voice Chat.

So, I dug up my crate full of LEGO from my childhood, and so I thought "I'm playing with toy soldiers now, and it's okay, so lego should be okay too, rite?"

What /tg/ could I do with lego? RPGs and dungeon crawling seem like first choice, but what else? Is there some sort of crafting /tg/?

Just don't point me at those new shitty games Lego themselves make, i'm not interesting in spinny ninjas shit.

Mobile Frame Zero, Brikwars. Skirmish wargames with rules that are actually based around Lego (in the case of MFZ, damage removes parts so the build is important. In Brikwars, point values are calculated based on parts used iirc - I had a copy of it or something like it ten years ago but haven't looked at it recently.)
