You know why he died?

He didn't wear a fucking helmet. Helmets save lives guys don't let your warrior fight without one.

Most helmets wouldn't have stopped that wound. Closed helmets aren't the norm.
>>
>>49967688
Look at the right top side of his head. A helmet would help.

Now with THIS wound he would be fucked either way
>>
>>49967619
It looks like it impacted the front of his face. It might have only gone partially into his head.

Not shown: the broken ribs and smashed spine.

Because I see a /hell/ of a lot of -- interesting developments if that piece is any indication.

FFG usually use great artists, and I'm glad L5r will continue to look good. The picture is pretty interesting, too. I just hope they don't advance the setting too far-- the streetlamps are a little worrying.

So one of the player chars is about to get married in a pretty big ceremony after some hellaciously violent recent weeks. What sort of light interstitial adventures do you lot rum when the PCs are just trying to do something relatively normal without the usual drama of secret cults, demons, and prophecies?

Pic related, he's marrying an elf.

Players run into a secret demon cult with a prophecy to ressurrect their master on the day of the wedding. Party must prevent it without the player getting married finding out anything is amiss.
Proceed to run a 1-day parody adventure.
>>
>>49966342
You could just do something light hearted around the ceremony.
>Someone missplaces the rings and the party must scramble to retrieve them before the bride finds out.
>Some of the guests turn out to be mortal enemies and must be kept away from each other at all cost or they may ruin the whole event.
>The groom loses the vows he had written down and must imrpovise them on the spot in the middle of the ceremony.

I'm about to go to work in a place where a lot of people play 40k. I haven't played since 5th Edition 's New Codex. I have lots of Warriors, Destroyers, a Destroyer Lord, lots of Scarabs, one Night Scythe, two Ghost Arks, a C'tan, some Tesla Immortals, some Deathmarks, some Lychguard with the shields and swords, an Annihilation barge, a Triarch Stalker, a Canoptek Spyder, two monoliths, three Wraiths, and a Command Barge that I don't have the parts glued down on so I can convert it into a shooty barge if I want to. Also several Crypteks, Trollzyn, and Imotekh. All fully painted, it's just I haven't had a reason to play them.

While I guess I could easily make these into a viable army already, I was curious if there is something in 7th that I really should focus on buying and using more of. I understand we got glance-to-death back so Gauss seems good again. Any recommendations for upgrading my army/getting back into it?

Thank you in advance.

As fun as the mechanics of a good campaign are, it's the characters and their stories that appeal most to me.
Why don't you share some of yours? What's their basic concept, what inspired you to make them, what's some of the trouble they've gotten into, what makes them unique? Or at least unique in your eyes.

A friend of mine is running a modern DnD game soon (5th ed), so I made a two-bit detective character, a wannabe Phillip Marlowe who has to take divorce cases to get by.

I'm keen to get him going, see if he changes under the stress of a game..

Can do.

My current favorite is "Claw" (not his real name), a Fetchling Sorc in a high fantasy setting. He's a recent graduate from a magic university, and looking for something to do now what he's gotten his degree.

He pretty much looks like your standard edgelord. Except turned up to 11. On top of being a Fetchling, he always swaddles himself up in black, with an equally black hooded cloak. His staff has a scythe blade stuck on it, his dyed-black hair covers most of his face, he rarely talks, and prefers to use Keep Watch to sleeping. He doesn't socialize much, and he surrounds himself with Darkness whenever he wants some privacy. Which is always.

So as a result, most people give him a wide berth, afraid he's going to kill them in their sleep or something. His party is different though. He ran into them at the graduation ceremony, when he wanted to ask the bard about the heretical music she played. The party leader, who enjoyed his five-word farewell speech, immediately jumped on him. And pelted him with questions. Totally unused to the attention, his defenses dropped like they were hot.

The party quickly found out the reason he doesn't talk is that he's embarrassed by his hick accent, and he hides his face because of the embarrassing pock marks he has left from puberty. He hasn't told them he hates crowds because he's from a small farm town, and that the scythe blade was a gift from Mom, or that he wears black because his childhood crush said it was his color.

He's actually got a good heart, and after just one session it's already landed him in trouble, associating with a summoner and her insane succubus. The party leader stole his first kiss (violently) and now he has a crush on her.

I was inspired by Blizzard's Reaper, to make the ultimate edgelord... with a twist. "Claw" (his real name is Haclawfelsgirdan) is what came out.

Invite to an amusement park. Casually take it into a funhouse. Then grab it, tie it up in front of the crazy mirrors, and lock it inside. Put a "this attraction closed" sign out front so no one goes in and undoes your work.

Let it stew in front of the comically warped mockeries of its image until it snaps.

Beholders care for nothing but themselves. They don't even like other beholders, they think those are blasphemies to the perfect form that is themselves.

This beholder is either insane, in which case it should be killed ASAP, or deceiving me, in which case it should be killed ASAP.

Depends on what everyone else has.

THem is not really a game about poker, it's a game of selling.

If pocket pairs were so powerful you'd see more people going all in right off the bat.

But a 3 of a kind is one of the most powerful hands in this game, because higher hands become harder and harder to come by (str, flush, fh, etc) as you miss cards on the flop.
>>
>>49965228
>Are pocket pairs really that good?
Depends on the river.
The prime contenders for the best pocket cards are the following:
- Pocket pairs.
- Consecutive high-cards of the same suit. On average, AK of the same suit is stronger than AA, and is roughly equal to KQ or QJ of the same suit.
- Fringe cards that complete a straight (something like 5-10 of the same suit), though they are considerably less powerful than the options above.

I'm thinking of making a Spelljammer style setting (fantasy in space), but the "planets" the players will be visiting will be a corpse (or possible corpses) of god(s), floating in the aether.

But I'm having a hard time considering the scale. Should the skull be planet side? Or the teeth? If the teeth are planet sized, what sort of super structure is the head? How big are the rest of the bones in comparison? I don't want hundreds of planets, since I'm not confident in creating enough things to be interesting.

Any ideas, /tg/?

I'd have the Gods be long-dead, their bodies hard enough that they've been hollowed out, themselves little more than a rigid container in the shape of a living being.

I wouldn't have them too large. I'd say the eye sockets or mouth should be about the same size as a space-port's main hangar bay? Still utterly colossal, but nowhere near Planet sized. Once you get too large, the fact you're walking around the corpse of a God kind of loses its meaning.
That you're walking down the path of it's removed "optic nerve" to get to the main trading hall is a lot more impressive than "oh fabled adventurers, you must quest to the left foot", or "the dark creature has carved its lair deep within the jungles of his right armpit".
>>
>>49965209
Have each "planet" be completely different with regards to scale. Play with it a bit. Hell, nest them in layers like having the whole body of one also be the thumb of another.

Also, this is what the Astral Plane in DnD's Planescape setting is like. The Athar (the faction of god-haters) set up outposts and shit on the bodies of dead gods to study them. Although good luck finding any material on that out there nowadays.

Basically, don't tie yourself to one scale- mess with it.

Ymir is dead. He was slain an aeon ago, by the god of Time. Thus, all must be slain by Time.

Whatever shape Ymir once had, it is unlike any beast I have ever seen.

The system Primary is known as the Eye of Ymir. It burns with a red light, so very unlike Krynnspace. The inside of the Crystal Sphere is littered with small bones that may have formed fingers, or knuckles, or some other tiny joint. From the orbit of the "planets", they appear as stars, albeit glowing with a sickly off-white.

The planets themselves? The first body, known as the Skull of Ymir, is exactly that. A hideous superstructure of spikes, protrusions, eye sockets fortified by the occupants. Ships enter the harbour of the Skull of Ymir through the open passage of His ancient bestial nasal cavity, sailing up to the docks. Balefire torches burn green along the darkness, to guide ships home. Through the docks and the administration/warehouse district, steps lead up to the safest city in the entire Sphere; Cerebrus. Cerebrus is constructed from materials traded for in other systems or salvaged from wrecks that couldn't make a Sphere Portal in time, a glorious city of upcycled ship parts and random junk. The city is run by a council of shipping guilds, and offers several amenities; an apothecary, a small healers guild, several appraisers, "shrine row" for the faithful, and the most notorious drinking hole in 3 spheres, The Shattered Hull. Don't ask the Beholder bartender about his eyepatch. Law and Order is administered by an ancient Lawful Evil Lich, who is not above organising work contracts involving the corpses of dead crew members to pay off outstanding debts. Rumours speak of other, hidden guilds, but who can say?

The second body is a belt. Of teeth. Some of them are as large as the Rock of Bral with forests and strange creatures, some are just large enough to create gravity and atmosphere, sustaining mosses and lychens. Perfect place to hide a treasure hoard...

if anything humans are incredibly kind and atrocities are relatively rare (and inspire horror rather than admiration) a warlike race would be psychopatic. Except for krauts who are pretty evil and robotic.

I tried. Really, I did.

I watched the movie, and it felt like an extended teaser, touching on ideas I wanted to see explored but leaving me unsatisfied, so I went looking for the comic to read, hoping it would provide a more structured narrative.

Instead of finding answers, I just found more questions, and while there's something about the comic's style that I find intriguing, the plot is just too weak to keep me interested.

And, I love the clothing designs, because they look like what a mechanical enthusiast might design with many outfits looking best suited for robots rather than humans, but I don't really love all the mech designs, because many look like what a fashion designer would create to walk down a runway during a robot-themed show.
>>
>>49965227
this sums up my thoughts almost perfectly.

i really like the idea of FSS and i really want to like it but the actual thing has left me disappointed.
>>
It's a very interesting series that feels like it was made for several different pieces of media in mind. Not just a manga, but an anime series, video games, card games, etc. The way it's set up as a manga it is physically impossible to "finish". It feels like more should have been done with it.

Now that's a different opinion. Usually I see people complaining about the skinny character designs and praising the mecha designs (other than the the Gothicmade stuff).

ok so its set in a possible future
but im unsure what they are talking about with the planet getting moved are they saying that the main pathfinder planet is moved to another solar system and they spread out from there.

if so why pathfinder already has a solar system to build on.

anyway as much as i think pathfinder is a step down from 3.5 in almost every way im kind of excited for this it will be especially interesting to see the sort of stuff that will happen with the gods when ported to space probably much moreso then any of the greyhawk gods.

i hope that the new classes get really cool shit at level 20 as thats the one place pathfinder itself was actually better then its predecesor.

in my experience in 3e a lot of the complaining that martials were underpowered was because people weren't making proper use of magic swords with a sci fi setting players are less likely to not bother bother with fancy gear and more importantly it will lead to less dms saying lol im gonna make magic equipment hard to get in my games balance be damed

one major problem though is that even in the 3e days the skill system was shit it gave wizards far to many skill points and totally shafted fighters in a sci fi setting skills are likely to be even more important.
