Depends on where you set it, but there are generally a few constants: the West backs one side, Russia backs another, and religious/ideological movements can back their own side, but are often being manipulated by the first two. Winning is desired, but as long as you can mire the other sides in endless conflict, then you have accomplished something.

If you're set in the middle east, then there are almost no differences between moderates and radicals, and the jews will have had a part in the conflict SOMEWHERE.

If you're interested, search /k/ for the middle east thread for some perspective.

Rewrote the setting part into it's own self-contained game.

It would still need more setting fluff, but I'll try to work that out somehow. Probably gonna make some of the NPC:s that will appear in my game examples or something.

Needs a GM knowledge section, too.
>>
Systems tied to settings only make sense for super focused, usually small games.
>>
I had this weird resource idea and I'm wondering what it could be good for.

You have some number of reversi pieces. Some things require a certain amount of each color, but "spending" them is just flipping them to the other side. So it just changes instead of depleting.

>Party clears one room of a cave, scouts find that captured villagers are in one room, another room of sleeping goblins are in the other
>Bard is sneaky, suggests that he and the other sneaky types sneak into the sleeping quarters and kill the goblins in their sleep
>Ranger protests "They're just sleeping, I don't feel like just murdering them."
>Bard replies "How do you feel about being attacked from behind by them when they wake up?"
>Party decides to efficiently slay the sleeping goblins and sides with the bard instead of trying to sneak the prisoners out quietly

What alignment best describes this course of action? What scenarios has your party been split on based on individual character morals and alignment?

An eye for an an eye, and the world goes blind.

Two eyes for an eye is a much better exchange rate as only half of you will go blind compared to one of yours.

If it was a bandit camp that had enslaved an entire village, they'd still be too dangerous to leave alive.

The only thing bad is that you should try to make sure the villagers are safe first.
>>
>>50010402
Alignment wise it's a Chaotic act. The Goblins are obviously enemies and evil so killing them is justified even if the means a bit dishonorable.

>"Of course I back stabbed the party, I'm evil!"

How many times have you had to deal with the stupid evil players? Those assholes who will actively fuck over the party, because LOLEVIL?

From the crafty to the psychotic, I've always given my evil characters a reason to work with the party, and never fuck them over. Even with the BASTION OF GOOOOD sticking their nose in my business when I politely ask them not to.

Is it wrong to think that an evil person could just have friends? Not a pawn, a puppet, a thrall, but an actual friend? Someone they like traveling with, fighting with, and helping without some alternative motive to it?

Mind you, they are still evil, and outside of this small circle of friends they are just as vicious as you'd expect of an EVIL person.

>How many times have you had to deal with the stupid evil players?

Once. His character tried to stab up party members in their sleep over some slight, and when it didn't work, his character ran off into the night and he made a new one. When that one turned on the party and the people they were supposed to be protecting, he got kicked out of the group and that was that.

Really? For me it's the players who insist their characters are unconditionally good and champions of justice that have the most murder hobo characters that screw everybody over.
I'm going to give you an example from the last campaign I DMed and the one that convinced me to never allow alignments in my games again.

Our neutral evil bard was the most trust worthy, most helpful, and nicest person in the party. She also avoided killing people as much as possible and risked her life multiple times to save her fellow party members. Granted, she relied heavily on mind control spells and her motivations were fame and money, so her player insisted she was evil.

Meanwhile, the lawful good cleric destroyed that party's sailing ship, stole money from children, burned down a village, and bet the souls of the entire rest of the party along with that of his own grandmother to a demon in a gambling game.

All the mayhem, all the problems, ALL the crushed hopes: There's still what has been left and downloaded in HIS NAME!! Brothers! Honorable All, I have come with a report of my previous operations. 'Operation Save Scum Shield' has proven to be a success on all fronts and, with courage, alcohol and an autismal amount of boredom, Glitches, Bugs and Warp Fuckery can easily be overcome...even without Cheatengine or other such base acts!

Observe, Sector Hel, and the Chapter assigned to it, the Mighty Grail Eagles.....not really great names all around......BUT GREAT DEEDS! A chapter with only coursery glances to it's progeny, the traits it boasts following....

As to the sector of charge: Another broken trek to ANY corner, with a dozen systems already infested by Tyranids. With travel time, Orks would multiply. Companies had to be re-organized, to maximize their potential and supported the least.

Losses had to be considered, test slaves had to be readied, and firepower had to be gathered. And, most importantly, Glitches had to be countered.

Common occurances were of course, warp jumps to simultaneus and multiple jumps to planets with ???? Jumps had to be stagered, and saved before hand.

BUT, the fickle nature of the warp, and game coding I guess, were also what the ???? would materialize once ships arrived. A cache of requisition or a certain lost ship ( that could almost NEVER be repaired before something garrisoned the planet anyway) was of course desired, but a cave filled with Tau, Robots, Necrons or something else that crashes to desktop.

The next issue was more overall strategic, The plodding of politics that is as painful in windowed time as in shitty realspace. As in some asshole knocked on my door like a Mormon but instead of just being a simple friendly mormon was a panhandler for friggin voting begs.

Gifting of the crappiest relics in inventory made the local Imperium Allies innitially happy, and over time grew to a solid friendship. It also ridded the chapter of infested relics at the close time( about 50 months) of when the Inquisitions started making house calls.

Planets had to be saved one travel month before arrival, hence "Save Scum Shield" .

Let's create a weird fantasy setting in the spirit of Lovecrafts Dreamlands or Jack Vance's the Dying Earth.
First questions
>what is the nature of the world, is it ours in the distant past or distant future, is it a parallel dimension to our earth or is it completely removed from our Earth?
> what creatures inhabit this world? What role does humanity play?
>what is life like in this world, do people live in decadent cities or do they barely scrap by in a barren wilderness?
46 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Several cities stand as bastions of civilisation, they surround a central sea but are separated from one another overland by large forests full of dangerous creatures, in order to bypass the dangers of going above ground, some cities have begun constructing underground tunnels to serve as trade routs.
>>
It is on earth, after a dozen or so apocalypses. Much like Zothique or the Dying Earth.
>>
The land is rule by the Frogfolk, Turtlefolk and Snailfolk. They share a common religion and culture.

Well /tg/, I finally did it. I just bought my first minis - a small group of pic related. Hopefully they'll arrive in a couple weeks so I can assemble them and then torture myself with painting them. I have a few questions while I pour over the million and one guides in the /wip/ thread though.

What paints do you recommend for a beginner? I hear Vallejo is the cheapest while still also being good quality paints.

Do brushes really matter or can I just buy a set of small brushes from a hobby store and be good to go?

What kind of glue do you recommend? Does it even matter?

Will I need a set of modeling sheers or will an X-acto do?

How much blood is too much for barbarians to be coated in?

Sorry for the blogpost but I'm really stoked to finally start doing this. It's been a goal of mine for a few years now and I'm finally starting.

>what paints do you recommend
gw if you buy it in a bundle, vallejo, tamiya, whatever you hav elocal

>do brushes matter
yeah but if you're buying good brushes they'll be good brushes

>glue, does it matter
yes, buy plastic model glue, plastic model cement, whatever, only buy from gw if you have to

you need super glue to stick plastic to metal, metal to metal, resin to resin, plastic to resin, etc

modeling sheers make things much easier but an x-acto is fine, just be careful
>>
>>50009245

>Paint
Reaper paints. They have nice kits that come with some models you can practice on too. Some Testors matt sealer as well.

>Brushes
Synthetic is fine for a beginner, choose your sizes as you like, I recommend 00 and 5/0 and a 3 for large coverage. A cheap brush with wide and round in shape for dry brushing.

>Glue
Super glue, Cyanoacrylate in other words.
However, assembling models with a tiny bit of greenstuff will allow you to fill the gaps and modify the models a bit better. Plus it holds great. Use you hobby knife to work it.

>Bloody barbarians
A little goes a long way.

You'll also need some sand for your bases, and very small rocks if you like. Specialty bases might be cool if you can afford them.
>>
>>50009267
>>50009245
The models in the OP are resin. By name-brand super glue.

Plastic glue will NOT work.

I was trying to come up with some interesting and uncommon beast races for my D&D 5e game and briefly considered bats, but wasn't sure how well a flying speed would affect the game's balance. I settled on allowing them to use their reaction to glide to negate fall damage, like a limited flying ability.

Rather than include a beast race for every type of animal, though, I settled on bears, bats, and lizards, since I don't see them too often and I think they have potential for interesting characters.

>The Emperor is a god, and is humanity's only hope

>Eat your nutrition gruel and be satisfied with your lot in life, citizen. Glory to the Emperor!

Recall the opening scene from Avatar, with whatshisface in the city -- overcrowded, hopeless, beyond decadent to the point of violence.

So there's your themes: decadence, violence, hopelessness, while the upper class lead desperate lives of their own of rich luxury albeit with a dehumanizing system of brown-nosing, payoffs, political maneuvering, and trying to stay in-favor to those in power.

Remember that cyberpunk is all about the little people living down at street level (or below it). They're "in" with what's real and have their fingers on the pulse of what's going on, despite not having any money or overt power.
