Except that's hardly the case, and one might argue that was even the point of the story, to show that the Parasytes are not the cold robotic murdermachines that they keep claiming they are. Migi started to develop a conscience and human emotions as he spent time with Shinichi, and Tamura develops them all on her own as she kept taking care of her host body's baby. Hell, even Gotou feels pride in his abilities and will eagerly compliment anyone he feels is impressive. They're more than capable of developing emotions if in the right situation, and spending ten years with someone hunting down other parasytes and learning about each other will tend to do that.
Then they're shoved into a metallic, alien form. That's going to get a reaction of uncomfortable uncertainty at the minimum, but with creatures that learned emotions? Yeah.
Jumpers!
How and who do you awaken? Is it spoopy?Tell me a story.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
So I have a bit of a confession to make. Way back in Summer, I got bored and started working on a CYOA full of all my weird ideas, which made me think of this place again. I managed to pick up the desire to make one of these all over again, and so I got a friend of mine (the same one that introduced me to these, in fact) to make a few claims for me. I wanted to come back with a surprise of at least five jumps or so to throw down out of nowhere. It was going to be this big thing.
Then my computer died. When I finally got my computer fixed, I told him to put it off until October. Surely I'd have my CYOA and some jumps done by that time. Then my mood tanked for some reason, and here I am on Halloween without even one done. But my guilt has built up by now that I feel like I need to post, if only to maybe get me to get me to focus on what I should do.
I don't plan on being an active presence. I'm still sort've soured on it, however, I am making things just because I enjoy making them, for both threads. So for the sake of my friend and for anyone waiting on these properties, I had claims and have WIPs of all the below:
Donkey Kong
My Life as a Teenage Robot
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Solatorobo
Pathfinder
I also tentatively plan to do these in the future:
Tales of the World: RM - Yes, from my old WIP. I heard someone picked up Boktai, but not this.
Suikoden V
Princess Maker
Dragon Quest 9 - I also want to do 5 and 8, but make no claims.
Phantasy Star Universe
Tales of the Abyss - Can and will do other Tales in the future, I even have an outline for a Xillia jump sitting around.
Steambot Chronicles/Bumpy Trot
Vampire: Dark Ages
Werewolf the Apocalypse
Kid Icarus
Seventh Cross
Rune Factory
And I mean it when I say all of these have WIPs. Making outlines is easy, the part I had motivation problems on was the actual fluff. It's only appropriate for the dead to rise on Halloween.
For my game, which is your standard fantasy-land D&D setting. I wanted to make a BBEG who came from our Earth who started to make his/her empire using the knowledge we have now. How would I make this work?
Don't make it Hitler.
>>50048134
It's not, I was just thinking of an average joe who got thrown into a shit situation.
>>50048152
That's good. What sort of job did the average joe have when he was on Earth? It might be good to define that and what sort of thoughts he has about the general way our society carries on. If he's nihilistic and disenfranchised by our society, then he might be trying to shape the new fantasy society into an ideal that he clings to. If he liked our society and the way it works, then he might be trying to make the new world into our image. Either way, he could impress enough people with what he knows to get himself into power and then he's becomes abusive with the power that he gets and tries to force his ideal on everyone.
So, /tg/, do you think old testament God would be a good GM? Maybe later, with new testament God, or maybe his son is better than him overall?
He'd be the worst rules lawyer imaginable. But all with unfamiliar house rules not in-book ones.
He wouldn't tell you, he'd just off your character.
>Rocks fall, you die
>What why?
>What's your shirt made of?
>Uh, 50% cotton and 50% polyester
>Exactly
Fuck no. He'd want you to follow every single rule to the letter, and do everything he said to the point where you might as well be reading off a script. And if you didn't, he'd murder you and your entire family. Like, there are lots of reasons the Abrahamic god gets criticized, "Being an enormous asshole" is one of the most prominent.
>>50048108
>>50048249
As for Jesus, he probably be better. Though I imagine he's act like a Lawful Stupid Paladin god of some sort, harshly punishing players if they ever do anything that isn't the most lawful and good option available. Same thing for having any amount of wealth that keeps your character from being a dirt-poor hobo.
Has anyone played SCION and if so is it any good or worth a look?
I know it's typical White Wolf storyteller system stuff but the whole "children of gods including patriotic mascots and folk heroes" thing kinda intrigued me.
Don't it's broken as shit and even worse than Exalted 2e by miles which is saying something. Take the basic premise and port it over to a supers system of your choice and you'll have a much better experience.
>>50048052
Any opinion on that 2e version that's coming out next year?
>>50048106
The company pulled a shit move by making you buy two books of you want to run a Hero campaign.
Sup /tg/. While I was crawling about the crawlspace looking for where I stored the halloween decorations, I found a sword hidden in a corner. I've never seen it before, and the previous owners have no idea where it came from. There doesn't seem to be a maker's mark that I can find, but could somebody at least help me figure out what sort of sword it is, in broad terms? My largely unfounded guess is something vaguely east asian, maybe korean.
Drawn. It's single edged, and pretty thick at the spine. Seems to have almost no flex to it at all.
I guess this is technically a /k/ question, but I figured there were more sword nuts here. /k/ looks more about guns and gubbins.
Detail of the hilt and scabbard decoration.
>>50047902
>>50047871
can we have a picture next to a ruler, a closeup of the hilt, as well as the tip of the sheath?
What are some scenarios where humans are the ancient, lost race that comes back to deus ex machina problems away? Or, I guess, to be the ancient evil?
Robot settings and animal settings are the only ones that come to mind.
How about one in which mankind advanced and reproduced so well that they became by far the most dominant race on the planet (as opposed to the Elves, Orcs, Dwarves etc). They advanced technology rapidly and pushed fantasy races into hiding places.
Then they became too big for their breeches and started to oppose the gods so the gods smote them, allowing the fantasy races to come out of hiding and start claiming territory again. However there are still some remaining human labs and stuff with the advanced tech the humans made (which seem like really advanced magic to the fantasy races).
>>50047153
>>50047153
In Gamma-World, True Humans are very much the lost ancient race, and all the "may as well be super-magic" arcanotech that's lying around the world is keyed to only work for True Humans.

guys, I'm sending a level ten wizard into a dungeon alone with the goal of sneaking past traps and setting up my own for a final confrontation against an evil party that will be coming in after me. I have an amulet of detect traps, but what spells will help me get through without using too many spell slots?
I'm svaing my level 4 spells for enervation, and one cast of greater invisibility. Knocking the entire party down 2 levels on average will make the fight much easier.
Everything PF is allowed. Everything. I have been asked not to go overboard on wands and scrolls, though.
>>50046904
Soooooo whats the spoopiest character you've played?
Yo, you see EZG mentioned N. Jolly in his review for Occult Adventures?
Seeing as PLs are made of thousands of Eldar, what kind of psychic powers could they have? Specifically for each one that is.
>average blue protagonist powers
>screaming lightning death powers
>soaring grace powers
>gun-face predator powers
>death powers
>meltagun

Greatly heightened telekinesis, hovering.
>>50046898
It's too busy being channeled into the EW rule.
How about we talk about a more traditional "traditional game"? Poker for instance?
Poker is something understood through practice, and the parts that aren't are luck-based. Not much you can do regarding poker on a Taiwanese Aglet-fixing forum.
>Inb4 Go, Chess, etc.
Games that have existed a long time may not be solved, strictly speaking, but have a mostly stagnant meta.
>>50045560
The "meta" is balanced though.
I like euchre. Played it a lot in high school but don't really have anyone to play it with anymore.
Sup /tg/. So I recently began writing down a story arc for my Inquisitor and his retinue and I wanted to know what folks think.
Since there's no writefag thread atm and I saw how popular >>50033219 was, I thought I'd open my writefaggotry up to /tg/ as a whole, whatever comes of it.
So far I've gotten down a couple of prologues and the first chapter. My thinking was to post the prologue and see what people think, and if its well-received, I'll post the first chapter too.
***
Valkyries screeched overhead as fire lit up the night.
I watched from beneath my bed as they painted the fortress across the lake in incandescent light. It reminded me of waking early on Candlemas to see the sun begin to rise.
But this seemed unnatural to me, and I knew enough to be scared.
Other noises animated the night, the sounds of men and women shouting in the streets, battle mantras echoing, the unsettling cries making my skin crawl in a way that felt so unnatural to me.
Then, quite suddenly, the fighting was inside the house as well, cracking plaster and splintering wood, breaking glass and filling the Manse with the smell of smoke. I heard screams and pounding footsteps, shortly blocked out by more explosions lighting up the sky.
“Where’s Lysa?!” Papa called from nearby. In retrospect, in his panic he likely only looked my room over briefly, and I, in fear, was too paralyzed to come out from under the bed.
Instead, I lifted a hand and clutched my pendant so tightly the sharp edges cut into my palm.
(cont.)
>>50045456
The footsteps retreated, and in short order his voice echoed back to me, pleading.
“It’s been eight years,” he cried, “We didn’t know what else to do! They told us-“
His voice was cut off by the sharp crack of a bolter. Though I didn’t see, I think some small part of me knew, and that was enough to make me break my silence, to sob my despair.
Another set of footsteps approached, heavier, pacing around the bed before stopping dead in front of me. They were metal, prosthetics, which extended up as far as his knees.
He knelt, dipping his head below the frame of the bed to look me over with a merciless expression. He was bald, his angular face marked with scars and his eyes devoid of pupils.
“Drag her out.” He ordered curtly.
Another who I hadn’t noticed knelt and grabbed me savagely, yanking me from my hiding place. I squeezed my eyes shut, my grip tightening around my pendant as a tube of hot metal pressed against my forehead.
“Wait,” I heard the bald man say, and the gun was removed from my forehead, “What is she holding?”
I opened my eyes to see him studying me with curiosity.
>>50045488
I looked down at the pendant, my hand shaking as I slowly uncurled my fingers from around it.
He took the bloodied two-headed bird from my grasp and held it up.
“Do you know what this is?” He asked me.
“The two-headed eagle.” I told him, my voice strangely devoid of emotion despite my state.
“How did this come to your possession?”
“It was Mama’s,” I replied honestly, his expression softened, and I continued speaking, “She gave it to me, she said that what the horned men tell us is a lie, but the two-headed eagle is the truth. I wasn’t supposed to wear it, but-“
“It’s okay,” he cut in with a gentle tone, “It’s called an Aquila, and you have proven your faith to it. Your mother was a wise woman.”
“Can I see her?” I asked, “Can I see my parents?”
I detected a hint of regret in his eyes when he spoke his next words, “They are resting now, but a Priest is going to take them to the Aquila very soon. You’ll see them again, eventually.”
He stood and spoke to the second man, clad in black and red with a helmet resembling a skull. He thought of death and little more.
“Mach, take her to my ship, have her faith tested, and if she passes the trials, bring her to my office.”
I do not remember much else of that night. The things I saw on the way to the shuttle and the pain of the purity trials make the whole experience blurred, like trying to peer through misted glass.
I was born into a world controlled by Chaos, yet by a random act of faith, a memory of a time before, I had been granted a chance to live a more noble life, a life in service to the Emperor's most holy inquisition.
Your writing seems technically fine, but your story is hard to judge from just what you've got here.
Maybe post some more and more people will have feedback.
Anon >>50044445 asked for some waifu CYOAs and we may as well have a new thread.
>>50044513
I'm literally googling "waifu CYOAs", I hope you like them.
What are some examples of Ranged Weapons?
Looking for Medieval era hand weapons, realistic or magical.
Working on a board game and I need a list of about 30 types of ranged weapons.
>>50044388
>30 types
Why?
You have too many types of weapons there
>>50044388
What in the name of fuck?
Big groups are thrown (knives, maces, javelins), bows (various types), crossbows (various power and reload mechanisms), early firearms (and bombs).
For fantasy, add alchemical thrown/ammunition to the mix and you're set for anything.
What's up warhammer fans. What's the coolest Space Marine chapter?
>>50043758
Whichever you think. I'm personally a fan of the "good guy" chapters like the Lamenters or Salamanders, because I respect the endurance it takes to uphold goodness in a setting like 40k.
>>50043758
Clearly the Silver Skulls. Gold is obviously the coolest color in the setting as shown by the Emperor but no chapters have a good color scheme. Therefore the Silver Skulls are the best since Silver is one step below gold.
>>50043758
I don't give a damn what others think.
Ultramarines are my boys.

>Dat jack of all trades while still being specialized in leadership
>Dat ability to build long lasting empires, governments, planetary institutions
>Dat nobility
>Dat honour
