My GM put character named Reliable Patches in our game. He had all of Patches' key traits, big nose, bald, black leather armor and armed with a huge shield & spear. He then ended session with us chatting with him about some treasure located in a crypt which he offered to split with us.
I have a suspicion that my paladin is going to get a boot shoved up his ass and get launched into the nearest grave Patches can find.

What is your opinion on necromancers?
Fun? Overdone?
Depends on the player.
>>50137052
>Fun? Overdone?
yes
I have a soft spot for stupid bone puns and weird, macarbe characters, so the fact that it's overdone doesn't annoy me nearly as much as it might. but if I see another person going all "guys I just had a brilliant idea! what if a necromancer was actually a good guy who wanted to help society with undead workers!?" I'm going to vomit
1) It totally depends on the concept. There can be lots of different takes.
2) Sure they can be fun.
3) In games I don't think so. I could do with one day where someone doesn't make a thread about them on /tg/ though.
What would your campaign world be like if magic items where 1/10th as expensive as they are now?
Well they don't really have a listed price. If that somehow translated into them being 10x as common it would be pretty dramatic I guess
>>50136778
Identical, because they're exceptionally rare in the first place.
>>50136778
Nothing, cuz I don't have magic items in my setting.
Hey /tg/ look it's a preview of an animal-themed TTRPG coming out, from River Horse and Alessio Cavatore. Hasbro's having him make it,even though they own WotC, weird right?

Now, now anon. We shouldn't disparage this concept. I mean there aren't a lot of table top RPGs that can be easily used to introduce young children to the concept of role play.
Besides, who knows, maybe it'll befun
I mean I don't think people who have such an underappreciated hobby as table top games should be so close minded towards niche concepts.
>>50136373
>Hasbro's having him make it, even though they own WotC, weird right?
Not really. He approached them for the license, not the other way around. I suspect they didn't have any prior plans for a tabletop RPG, or they would've gone through WotC as you said.

Isn't new Traveller supposed to come out today?
>>50135845
Aye, just finished the update, but I'm adding a table of contents and reformatting everything. Also going to do one last grammar check. I think I got everything, but I want to make sure.
It will either drop tonight or in the morning, I'm not leaving until its done.
>>50135881
What all have you added? I wanna know if I should post my build now or wait until you finish up
Are there any settings where bird mounts are common?

I wish I knew of a game that did aerial combat well. It always seems to immediately turn into autism about speeds in three dimensions and turn radii.

Previous thread: >>50127933
Have you made any characters with the new races? What are they?
>>50134791
Not yet, no. Because forever GM. I have, however, allowed them in my campaign and regretted it immediately, since I'm DMing Curse of Strahd.
>>50134810
If you're going to allow monstrous races in Strahd, mandate them. Have the entire party be comprised of fuckers who aren't allowed in any town. Let this band of chaotic misfits save the day somehow and yet still be reviled by the simple peasantfolk.
Is there any class feature or other character option besides Feylock that confers immunity to being charmed onto the players?
So, this is all obviously headcanon, but I felt like sharing this since /tg/ loved 40k.
So, we all know that wide-spread beliefs can affect the Warp, which is why some people make the case that the Imperium's faith in the emperor might actually manifest as something in the Warp given time and (possibly) the death of his physical form. We also know that when someone dies, their soul goes to the Warp, and that the Imperium doesn't know this, instead believing that the faithful dead go to the Emperor.
My headcanon is that the Emperor, half-dead but kept from truly dying by the Golden Throne, has manifested his soul in the Warp like anyone else who dies. Technically, since the Emperor is a Perpetual he can't stay perma-dead, but because he's prevented from dying and coming back to life by the Golden Throne, his soul has been sent there.
However, due to the Imperium worshiping him as the god-emperor for so long, believing that their faithful dead go to him after death, they all manifest in the Warp close to the Emperor. However, that faith is a double-edged sword, because now that everyone thinks he's an immortal god-emperor, if he dies in the real world then there's no predicting what's going to happen.
So the Emperor takes his faithful, and leads the biggest crusade in history. Their goal; Get out of the Warp.
(1/2)
>>50134275
My thought is that they would invade Slaanesh's realm of chaos, to get to the Eye of Terror and travel through it to get out of the Warp and back into reality. Doing so would require them to go into the heart of Slaanesh's realm, however, so its taken them millennia of crusading to get anywhere near close to it. Normally it would be downright impossible, especially if Slaanesh himself ever decided to come down and do something about it, but with the Imperium's worship making the Emperor stronger in the Warp, and countless new souls arriving from the Imperium's wars to fight once more, it might just be possible.
And if he gets back to reality, he's going to reunite with his physical body and finally rise from the Golden Throne again.
What do you think /tg/? Is there hope in the grim darkness of the far future? Do the Imperium's dead get to Crusade with their God-Emperor once again?
>>50134275
>>50134329
This is Draigo-tier horrible.
I'm going to do presentation of tabletop rpg's in front of my class in a few days.
Can /tg/ help me find pros and cons about the hobby?
Pros
-Uses the imagination
-Fun to play
-Lots of options
-Better than video games
-Social game
Cons
-Addiction
-Requires a bit of a brain
-Needs more than one player for the best experience.
-fa/tg/uy culture.
>>50134123
I did it and became a laughinstock of the class. Don't do it, OP. Don't do it.
>>50134123
Pros: face to face socialization, problem solving in groups, growth of imagination, expansion of your social network, low cost, fun, memorable experiences
Cons: not an active hobby where a skill increases (unlike learning to painting minis) unless you count socialization as a skill, groups are hit or miss, time consuming, doesn't exercise the body only the mind, lots of downtime between turns
In essense, humans need play time, and rpgs are better than most ways to have fun, especially videogames. Humans are social creatures and having fun socially is almost alway's better for the psyche.
Tell me about the practitioners of the dark arts in your setting, /tg/.
>>50133973
They're just your standard, generic bad guys for the PCs to fight, nothing special about them. You did make me wonder what a setting would be like where necromancers aren't seen as evil, but as harmless weirdos.
>>50133973
They love their daughters unlike some abusive parents.
>>50134214
I assume in a setting where necromancers don't use the souls of the dead to power themselves or just communicate with spirits and not rise the dead.
How do we
>>50133771
You don't.
It's already dead.

Hi /tg/; got somewhat of a quandary.
So I'm running a "Intro to RPGs" type deal for my friend's LGS, and I've decided to use Savage Worlds as my basis. However, due to my audience in this LGS, I've been politely requested to remove gambling references, which I have no problem with, because it's mainly 13 year olds that I'll be GMing for.
My quandary is: In Savage Worlds, the usual 'success model' refers to dice roll results as a Miss, a Hit, a Hit with a Raise, a Hit with 2 Raises, and so on. I need to remove the word 'raise' from the terminology; wat do?
Current ideas:
>Degrees of Success
A Hit becomes '1 degree'. A Raise becomes '2 degrees'...
>Degrees Over Success
A Hit is just a success. A Raise becomes 'a degree over'.
>Just the numbers, as is standard for 3.PF games round these parts
4+, 8+, 12+...
>>50130188
Politely tell them to fuck off. Several other games use the term "raise," off the top of my head it includes 7th Sea (both 1e and 2e) and Legend of the Five Rings.
>>50130291
Honestly, I'm torn between either 'choose a different system, most likely some kind of d20 homebrew'; or cancelling the entire event due to the overprotective parental concerns. Savage Worlds is by far the system I'm most familiar with and able to tweak to fit my needs.
>>50130404
Take your ball and go elsewhere. Any nitwit that gets scared of a term they think they heard on "World Series of Poker" is not worth the time.
