D&D already had that in older editions, they called it the Wolfwere. It was probably inspired by the shapeshifter in Karl Edward Wagner's "Reflections on the Winter of my Soul", in which it was acknowledged that different strains of werewolf existed and in the end was revealed that the antagonist was a wolf by default, able to assume man or hybrid form.

As for other combos, you could call them ratweres, tigerweres, whatever.

"Therianthropes", as I personally call them - don't know if there's a proper name for them, maybe they got one in Van Richten's Guide to Werebeass - have appeared quite often in D&D. Wolfweres and Jackalweres are the most well-known, with the latter replacing the former in 5e, but for a complete list of "animal-into-humanoid" shapeshifters that I'm aware of...

* Aranea (true-breeding sorcerer spiderweres - giant spider/humanoid/hybrid)
* Weredragon (despite the name, female-only shapeshifting dragons who used human mates to procreate)
* Nawidnehr (giant sharks that can assume human form)
* Wolfwere and Greater Wolfwere
* Jackalwere

I think there was also an asswere, but I can't remember what it was called.

Don't know that you can really do that sort of thing in D&D without writing your own spells. Or Wish.

Unfortunately, reduce/enlarge and Giant Size pretty much round out your options. And Miniaturize from 3.5 Advanced Bestiary.

Anima has a few options for making just yourself bigger and smaller in the Ki abilities, but the ones that are going to be the most effective are one-way trips via the Chimera spell, and only really work on you.

Exalted could probably let you craft a sorcery or something that would let you shrink/grow things (including yourself), but to keep the cost from taking you forever, you'd have to learn to shrink/grow separately, and with specific classifications of objects separately. It'd probably take forever either way, though.

There's nothing in any hard-mechanical system that I'm aware of that lets people get to Brandish's level, even if that's literally the only thing they can do. More freeform or rules-light systems might not even let you do it.

What attracts me to the games are actually the mechanical aspects, such as the number crunching and having a big ruleset to delve into and craft synergies/"exploit" rules and whatnot. What gives me troubles are the more dramatic, theatrical aspects and outside-the-rules type lateral thinking (the kind that the GM accepts because it makes sense for the situation).

For the simplistic and small price of them sitting down and listening to what he has to say, he can tell them his (abridged) life story. Sure, you can tell your deeds to the gods, but sometimes it's nice to know there are people out there who know of your tale.

Like I said, you should keep the tale short, because let's face it, unless the players legitimately want to hear his story, they're going to get bored. Heck, you don't even actually have to tell the story; just going "you all listen to the priest's life story. You're not sure if you got all of what he said or if there was any particular point to this, but at the very least he seems eager to help you now." will probably do the trick.

I've yet to do evil upon players or GM and enjoy it. Only when I'm miserable and forget that leaving a game you don't enjoy is a thing you can do, and do with minimal rudeness or grief generation.

I mean I know this is just a drawn picture, but 4 marines probably just got killed there! How many hundreds of years of experience just got plasmed down the drain? Those guys probable have been in battles longer than those Tau have been alive.

I read about 60% of Blade of Damocles and basically marines get devastated on the initial landing. They fight back okay but Farsight and the other generals start telling the troops to equip plasma and melta on all the suits.

Even though marines get chopped in half or get arms blown off, they still crawl around and continue to fight, which amazes the Tau. After the marines are scattered from the drop zones, it turns into guerilla warfare, where specialized small teams like the one with Ventris and Sicarius get lucky and do infiltrate into the tech labs and do some Rambo shit.

In open warfare, the marines have to rely on their orbital ships and other human forces like the Imperial Guard and Titan legions to fight the entire Tau army. Marines can also bring plenty of tanks as well.

Theres really no other logical reason to waste marines on an enemy that can trade so well man on tau. But then again we live in a universe where tank commanders wave chain saw swords around.

And in any case the 1000 marines per Chapter really needs to be revised into a more realistic number. 100,000 Marines per chapter sounds more reasonable. And would actually make sense why the would divide their forces into battle companies.

Well, they're not building the hover engines from scratch. The societies that they are scavenging from have access to factories and stuff, but the scrap city is just maintaining the junk from the more advanced cities
