The Winter Ball is a time where board, using an Avatar of the board itself, interact with the other boards under the premise that they ask each other out to a ball It's basically a time where a lot of people on 4chan, especially writefags and drawfags, come together and create a lot
Anyway, it's come to our attention that the /tg/ may not hold the ball with as high esteem as we might think.
Here's a one question poll. Answer it and tell us what you think.

Sorry for the second Winter Ball thread. This will be the only time it happens.
Also, Real question of the thread: Have you ever used Bees in your Campaigns, in any way? How did it go?
The comfiest inn my players ever stayed at was a bed and breakfast owned by a Halfling and his Gnomish wife, who worked a large span of land, most of which was filled with an abundance of wild Flowers. My players loved it.

If I remember correctly we at /his/ wanted to ask you guys out

We're going together, yes. Along with /vp/.
You already have one containment thread.

TOO LATE, we talking police force rangers now.
Is it just me, or are the Gorgonites fucking broken?
I play Commando Elites, I've been playing them for years, and okay I get all this fancy kit if I somehow find the points to pay for it but these guys just get ridiculous inherent bonuses: +20 accuracy, double HP, +10 attack speed AND damage. It's fucking bullshit.
Maybe I need to get the Military Chip expansion, I've heard that re-balances the game. Right now it feels like a fucking crapshoot.
>>50270067
Between you and me, don't get the Military Chip expansion. It makes the Commando Elites on par with the Gorgonsues, but something's off with them. I just can't put my finger on it.
I don't get it.
>>50270067
That movie was pretty much role players vs roll players.
I'm thinking about running a modern day RP soon using the Delta Green system, however instead of Cthulhu etc it would the occult and secret societies. The players would roll characters from all walks of life - ex-security for a celebrity who dabbled in perverse spiritualism, blogger who is into conspiracy, police officer who saw the wrong thing on duty, a government worker who finds a cover up etc etc.
Is Delta Green the best system for what I have in mind? What do I need to think about when building this setting?
>>50269380
I'm going to be GMing for the first time as well. Rather than making another thread, I'll simply ask in this thread for baseline advice, shit every GM needs to know, etc. Also any system-specific advice (I'm running Pathfinder because that's what my players are used to) would be appreciated.
Sorry to shit up your thread, OP. But hey, at least you get a free bump out of it!

>>what should I be asking myself?
>"Am I gay?"
>"Why am I playing with little plastic dolls and pretending to be a fairy princess?"
>"Was it because mommy never showed me any love?"
Start with those. Once you've satisfactorily answered those, you might be able to GM with some competence.
>>50269380
that is the best system.
however, you should be asking your self this question
>why am I doing this with my life?
/tg/, I just started working at a game store and want to figure out an effective way to clear out inventory that isn't moving reliably. Case in point: Star Trek Attack Wing.
For those of you who play it, what online storefronts do you generally look to for product? Amazon, eBay, LGS?
Same question for Gundam models.
My FLGS also runs an eBay page where they auction off overstock for cheap, and also list big-ticket items that they don't keep on display for theft reasons.
>>50269527
That makes sense, but I was wondering if there were places to list specific items. If certain products are more successful listed on eBay, Rakuten, Amazon, Jet, etcetera.
For now, I'm focusing specifically on Attack Wing and Gundam. I'll expand out and start listing other products in time.

Excuse me /tg/, but now that the dust has settled, what's everyone's opinion on MYFAROG? Is it really as great as everyone says it is?
I don't really know how the mechanics work in game but the setting is full of WE WUZ and special snowflake Aryan races. Just take a look at the first few pages of the book on Amazon, he even theorizes that the "dark races" are not fit to live in Thule because they "lack sunshine vitamins". lel.
>>50266221
>Is it really as great as everyone says it is?
Yes. It is, in fact, not very good.

So I have a few friends who are willing to to be players in a Call of Cthulhu campaign that I'm writing myself. This'll be the first campaign that I write from (mostly) scratch and I'd like some input from anyone other then myself, and since the guy I usually run this kind of stuff by is one of the players I don't want to spoil anything.
The Idea is that there is one overarching story that'll allow me to use currently existing investigations, only tweaking a few things to drop hints to the big story without altering the investigations themselves. I am making up several things but thats why I'm wanting someone other then me to look at it. It is still a work in progress but the general idea is there (hopefully).
>>50265973
The overarching story is that an evil corporation, the MYY (Metros Yearround Yardmen) corporation, is gathering specimens to create a new Necronomicon like book. To do this they gather people who are close to the brink of insanity. The idea being that anyone exposed to the old gods enough and remains sane is able to channel them and write books of dark magic. These books content range from various summonings (such as the Necronomicon) to various forms of mind control (the Pauzaum Tome) alongside the ramblings of their writers. MYYco. is able to obtain their specimens by hiring investigators to look into strange happenings that push them closer to insanity. Once an Investigator is insane enough MYYco. sends specialized people to kidnap them. Kidnappings happen however the DM wants, any persons involved are extremely specialized individuals. Once a character is kidnapped the PC will have to make a new one. MYYco. has many shell corporations, all in various fields. If the investigators think to check into the shell corporations its obvious that they are shell corporations of MYYco. Anyone that personally hires the investigators are being mind controlled from the Pauzaum Tome, which is owned by the president of MYYco., and is unable to recall hiring the investigators (no matter what the investigators say/show. Any money used was provided by MYYco. and checks will show that its obviously from MYYco.s personal bank.). Some may have different memories that involve traveling to the investigators city/town, some may remember complete different events, and some may not remember anything at all from that chunk of time. None are startled by the investigators saying anything, and none are concerned by their false recounts.
>>50265983
The Final encounter takes place in the basement levels of the main MYYco. building. The PCs will be able to choose any of the investigators they have previously played that have been taken by MYYco. (in this case level up any older characters to the average level of the characters from the last session rounded down) or if they want to break in with any characters who have not been kidnapped they can (same as before if they aren't the characters from the previous session). If they choose to break in they easily find the basement area and the pods containing any PC who want to use a kidnapped character.
Like I said its a work in progress and I'm still writing the final Investigation, but I want to know if this sounds stupid and if I should scrap this and try to think of something different.

All he wanted was a truth
I've been hearing rumours for a while now that, with the Daemon Primarch models and all, there's going to bit of a fluff upheaval with them that may even move the timeline forward.
Biggest thing I've been hearing is that ALL Primarchs that live will return and one traitor Primarch will go loyal and one loyalist will go traitor. While I doubt this is true, I do wonder what Primarchs are likely to change sides. None of the loyal Primarchs really look anything like traitors, but the traitors themselves? Lorgar, Magnus, Alpharius and Mortarion could get back in the Imperium without it being a complete middle finger to the fluff.
How does /tg/ feel? Which traitors are the most loyal? And are any loyalists open to being traitors?
>two primarchs aren't known yet
it's obvious
Wolves go "traitor" because the imperium shuns them but they are still loyal to the Emperor. Alpha legion goes loyal because that was their plan all along.
>>50265210
I could see Perturabo or Alpharius going back to aid the Empire. Alpharius for all we know could be a not-traitor, but we know next to nothing about him or even if he or his brother are alive. Perturabo hates Chaos and might be willing to wreck up Chaos for their weakness.
Is revenge lawful or chaotic?
>>50265180
Depends. Are you doing it for selfless or personal reasons? Do you really have the right for revenge?
>>50265180
Chaotic. It's usually unlawful to engage in vigilantism.
The one exception is if you're bringing someone to justice who had escaped it, while being personally motivated in doing so, thus being motivated by revenge.
>>50265180
Depends. Does the laws allow it? Is it part of the character's moral code? Is it proportionate and deserved?
I made a post here last week about running a small DitV campaign. I had a first session last week with some more experienced players and as a new GM, I wanted to talk about what I had problems with here. My next session will likely feature a new group of people. So I get the chance to learn from my mistakes and do the first session right.
By the time I finished stumbling through a crude explanation of the setting my players already had vague ideas for their characters and they were excited to make them. I didn't do much reading directly from the book though, which I will most likely do more of next time because some things were tougher to explain.
What went not-so-well was my first town. I knew better than to try to plan a linear path for my players to take. But I did set up a couple small bads that dropped breadcrumbs which pointed to the big bad of the town. Unfortunately, character creation took about an hour longer than I anticipated, so they only just met the big bad guy before we had to call the session.
Most of my players are coming from a background in much more dice-heavy games. D&D, Aberrant and other WW games, Rollmaster, etc.
I know that Dogs is supposed to be very narrative. There really isn't a mechanic for small dice rolls for things like
"Do I notice anything?"
"Is he telling the truth?"
"Did I sneak well enough to be unnoticed?"
I suppose it's possible to turn any of those things into full-blown conflicts, but that seems like too much. Especially because once they deduce that he's not telling the truth, then you have to have another more meaningful conflict to get him to spill the beans.
As the GM am I just supposed to tell them when my NPCs are lying, assuming the lie isn't central enough to the plot to be worth a full combat?
Does anyone have any tips for
Don't know why it cut me off
>tips for handling small encounters that other games handle with skill checks
>>50263546
It's been a long time since I played Doggo in the Winefield, but if I recall correctly, if you have a situation where something is AT STAKE, then you break out the dice for a conflict.
If nothing is AT STAKE, just talk it out. Remember, the characters are not normal people. If some slack-jawed yokel is lying to their face, its fair to then tell them, "you get the feeling he's trying to deceive you." and then leave it to the players if they want to esclate into a conflict. They might take a different path (following him to see who he contacts, investigating his home or talking to others for clues as to why he'd lie).
>>50263728
posted early by accident
it's when they turn to you as the GM and say, "I want to MAKE this guy tell me the truth" that it becomes a conflict, because then something is AT STAKE and their actions in forcing the matter could have consequences.
