I played a kobold rogue in a 5e game a while back. I took the arcane trickster archetype. Her backstory involved apocalyptic visions, and dreams of an eldritch dimension. Basically a scaly CoC investigator.
She was ironically the most sensible person in the party.

Later on she began to embrace rather then fear the world in her dreams and took a homebrew prestige class that gave her control over lighting conditions

I mean, let's assume that just sticking it into a regular bag is not the worst idea possible. Let's assume that it doesn't have Dimensional Anchor and so actually wouldn't go into a Bag of Holding. Let's assume that it doesn't immediately use phasing, or Shadow Walk, or Teleport, or Plane Walk, or any of the other dozen methods it has to avoid being stuck in a small enclosed place.

Princess Bride, mostly because it's a great way to see what characters you can steal.

The Discworld movies are also good for a laugh and fir its silly nature.

Pirates of the Caribbean is also good, though only really the first. After that you can watch more if you really want to see more of Jack Sparrow.

The Matrix and Terminator for you Sci-fi stuff.

My personal recommendation is House of Flying Daggers, great wuxia movie. Also I recommend Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Both of these are great wuxia. Just watch them for an idea of that kind of action.

IG is a poor choice for a newbie. They're ineffective in small games, and need shittons of models to be effective.
And, frankly, everything not a vehicle is squishy and easily killed, your base infantry may as well be naked for most shooting attacks, and their basic weapon is generally regarded as useless unless massed.
