Why do people still play Tarmogoyf when they can play this much better card instead?
>>50673131
Maybe because Tarmogoyf doesn't cost 3GG you fucking retard.
>>50673196
You can't play Standard with Goyfs. Standard is the flagship format to play with. Don't forget to buy your Kaladesh Bundle, it's a wonderful set. You'll even get a chance to pull an ultra-rare masterpiece

Do you ever have the feeling that your DM is somehow biased against you? I recently lost a PC in a game, and I'm kind of sore about it.
We're playing Weaver Dice, which is the "official" Worm RPG. In Weaver Dice, campaigns are usually on a one-on-one basis: Everyone's based out of a single city, and their actions affect the events in the city through a series of solo sessions. (i.e. Player A goes first, then Player B, then Player C, then back to Player A again. If Player A burns down a building, Player B and C have to deal with the fallout.) Also, the powers and background you receive are entirely random, and not generated by you at all.
Okay, so my PC's background is that he's the son of parahuman hitman. When he triggered after a kidnapping attempt, he gained short-ranged teleportation powers. Unlike his father, he wants to be a hero, so he joins the Wards after a failed attempt at vigilantism.
Then everything falls apart. Another player (A member of the Russian mafia, the "Bratva") mounts an attack on the prison my PC is guarding, to breakout one of his superiors. Because he brought gunmen with him, I get flashbanged, shot and then he punches me out with his metal arm after a brief fight.
After I recover, I try to go after the PC-goon, but I have no leads and no-one likes me because of my earlier vigilante actions. And after THAT, I hear that another PC has killed my PC's dad because of a botched assassination attempt.
When I go after the 2nd PC (aiming to target him through his girlfriend) I get ambushed by a THIRD PC, who is a combat Thinker. Said PC is suspiciously well-equipped to fight me, with armor tailored to ward off electric shocks (My main weapon, because I have stun batons), a visor that lets him see through the smoke clouds left by my teleportation, and a wide array of knives.
In short order, he beats me down and then he guts me.
>>50673046
Can I say that this is unfair? I barely did anything, and I was the punching bag for everyone else. I get that rough things can happen in a game with PvP, but my guy kept getting beaten down! Is it wrong to be upset about this?

How do you deal with edgy players/DM's?
my DM constantly throws really cliche edgelord shit at us (dark versions of ourselves, evil nightmares from our past, etc) and our players for some reason eat it up because they all have "muh tragic backstory, my parents were killed in front of me, im so deep and misunderstood."
Am I the only one who wants a heroic story instead of some fucking sasuke style edgefest?
>>50672539

The Driver
My DM is using an alternate system for D&D 3.5 leveling up. Let me know what you guys think of it.
You no longer receive attribute increases every 4 levels, or feats every odd level after first, excluding your first feat. Instead you get 5 training points per level. Training points can be saved and spent whenever.
1 point = 1 permanent damage resistance (fire/frost/magic/sonic/poison/diseas) up to 5 max
7 points = feat
3 points = skill rank
5 points = cc skill rank
10 points = attribute
in addition, every single level you get an attribute point, this point can not be put into the same attribute back to back. For example level 2 you pick int, level 3 you have to pick not int, and then level 4 you can pick int again.
At level 10 and 20 you get +1 all attributes.
No single attribute can go over 18 (or 20 if your race gives you a +2 bonus). It can still go over with bonuses, buffs, etc but your base cant go over 18.
So basically if you dont care about skill points or attributes or any of that stuff you can get 14 feats from 1-20.
>>50671892
>My DM
See, the thing about that... the way your wording this all...
>Let me know what you guys think of it.
makes me pretty sure it's YOUR idea.
What an awkwardly phrased your request for feedback.
>You no longer receive [...] or feats every odd level after first,
Feats are normally every third level.
So lets take a look here,
you normally get a third of a feat per level (-7/3),
and a fourth of an ability score increase per level (-10/4),
but they still get a tenth of a score increase (+10/10),
on top of 5 points.
That's ~1.167 extra points of crap per level.
You should be giving AT MOST as much value per level as normal.
Probably less, considering that having options is itself valuable.
You've also scaled your prices weird. IIRC, some feats give upwards of +6 to (across several) skills?
It's not as good as front-loading onto one skill, but you can definitely get at least +3 to one skill from feats.
Not sure how much damage resistance you an get from a feat, but you gut instinct is some feats give 5 of that?
But frankly no one will ever want that. Ever. Speaking of things people actually want, where are bonuses to saves?
This entire thing seems poorly thought out. And frivolous.
If you must run your shitty homebrew, run it without us.
Or better yet, don't run it.
pic unrelated
>>50671892
Your idea is awful and you don't know what you're doing. This doesn't address or fix any problems, adds nothing but meaningless complexity, and will only be used for adding extra cheese to the ill-gotten progeny of an already completely broken-over-the-knee system.
>Free +1 attribute every level, +1 to everything at 10 and 20.
>Can't go over 18
These two things right here conflict with each other. That's giving a player a total of 32 attribute points over the course of 20 levels and unless they can go over 18 chances are good they'll be either pushing 18 in every stat by then or will actually be unable to add points because they hit 18 in every stat by the mid teens.
On the other hand if I've misread things and you intend to let these attributes go over the limit of 18 then it's still broken and shitty. The +1 attribute will just be put in the same two alternating attributes every other level, giving effectively +12 to each character's two primary attributes from levels 1-20.
This is all before we get talking to training points, which are a disaster. 3.5 suffers from a problem where feats become less valuable as characters increase in level. You usually take your most important and critical feats early on and then each marginal feat slot is filled with something less and less desirable. It's a big reason why fighter bonus feats are shit. Fighters get all the feats they really want by level 4 and then spend 16 levels picking dregs they will never use. With your system, people will grab all the feats they want instantly and then pick up an extra attribute point every two levels, netting another +8 or so attribute points over the course of the 20 levels. Hope you like casters with natural 38 casting stats at level 20 before racial bonuses.
>>50673723
>With your system, people will grab all the feats they want instantly
... is this actually bad though? People geting online faster is a good thing.
I mean, the system is otherwise a trainwreck, but I'm not sure it's making things actively worse by that much (on account of 3.5 being so messed up that whatever random change you do you have like a 50% chance to still improve the game in some way).
Do you guys succed in your Social checks using heartfelt irrational emtion rater than using lofic and facts? Does your GM differentiate between the two?
Dude GM doesn't let any of my successes succeed, especially when they succeed by more than 10.
Chick DM has let as many fights end in "hey dude let's stop fighting" as have ended in scorched blaster holes.
>>50671029
Burning Wheel actually differentiates between the two with them being different skills.
My most recent character is only good at the emotional one, and awful at logic. But she's a woman, so it is to be expected.
>player fails a diplomacy roll
>they go on to spend the next twenty minutes trying to logic the NPC into doing what they want anyways
>when the GM pushes back/doesn't give them what they want, they either whine or just keep fucking pushing and pushing
OR even worse
>they don't even try to roll in the first place
Players who do this should be fucking shot.

Collected Visions still a best
Last thread, someone said that Mastodon was bad.
Could someone explain?
I was hoping to get one for my Thousand Sons force, but the reception seems dour.
Which of the following would you be most interested in being the crew of/riding on during a game session or quest? You may select more than one, suggest your own or explain your suggestions as you wish.
1. Sci-fi spaceship, fairly standard
2. Hard Sci-fi Spaceship, more realistic with no artificial gravity, warp drives or hand wavey systems.
3. Naval ship, sail driven, such as a galleon.
4. Navel ship, engine powered, such as a battle ship or destroyer
5.Realistic large airplane, such as a Superfortress, with ball guns and bombs
6. semi-fantastic airplane, such as the giant flying fortress bosses in ace combat.
7. An entirely fantastic flying vehicle, such as a floating island or giant flying creature
8. An airship, like a blimp.
9. A submarine
10. A burrowing machine
11. A massive land vehicle, like a Crawler, see image.
12. An oversized tank or cannon platform.
13. A giant humanoid mecha, power rangers style
>>50670808
Honestly, any of those sound cool, if you forced me to choose (with out an environmental setting) I would say Galleon. Mainly because I'm sucker for the age of sail.
But my decision would change with different settings.
>>50670808
I tend to like these more, though the others are fine if the setting is good.
>1. Sci-fi spaceship, fairly standard

>>50671037
>>50671331
Fair enough, I'm just curious to see where /tg/ leans without setting info, because, like you said, you can make something neat out of any of those. But exactly what would vary.
Last session I ended up getting a brothel as a reward for helping the town free themselves from the criminal faction that owned said brothel, amongst others. /tg/, how do I turn this into an actually worthwhile source of income?
This may come as a surprise but you can make money off it...by...using...it...as...a...brothel. Beds and shit are already there so you just need some girls if it doesn't already come with them.
>>50670540
Convert it into an assassin's guild.
Keep it a brothel, it makes more money then a tavern, and it will already double as an inn, unless you cant keep it a brothel, just keep it the same
