Here ya go, bro.
From Tome of Battle, under Swordsage
>The Eighty Empresses have a different selection process for their protégés. The masters bring each young lady separately into the Dressing Room of Opala I, whose walls, mirrors, incense lamps, pots of rouge, and songbird cages are draped with 1,080 shimmering gold, red, pink, orange, and fuchsia silk ribbons. The girl is allowed to stay as long as she likes in the dressing room; she has but to give a signal when she is ready to leave. After she is led away, one ribbon is removed from the room. Then she is brought back. If she can name the color of the ribbon that was removed, she is accepted; otherwise, she is turned away forever.
DM mandates that you have to come up with a solution to this to take a level in Swordsage. What is your solution?
>>50695047
Let her stay in a forest for as long as she wants, then you kill one animal and she has to guess which animal was killed.
Meditation. Become at peace with the room, one with all that is within it, perfectly in tune with the atmosphere and resonance of the locale. Returning to it, I simply must return to that same state and find the single note that is missing from the symphony.
>>50695047
Start the game as a Swordsage.
Do you enjoy the stereotypical Arabian Nights settings? Why or why not?
>>50694889
I don't mind it, I guess. It's something different from the somewhat generic not!Western European settings, but by the end it all depends on what you do with the setting. If it's just window dressing and nothing else, you might as well go for a standard European setting.
It does feel interesting but its hard to pull off
1001 nights have some of the best fantasy stories ever, I tried using the setting of one in a campaign but people got bored before we got there.
>>50694965
> If it's just window dressing and nothing else, you might as well go for a standard European setting.
I specifically meant the exotic "fable" atmosphere the 1001 Nights invokes, or things like, well, Prince of Persia, Aladdin etc.
How do we turn diseases into a collectible game?
The potential for rapid spread through infection threatens to undermine a profit model based on scarcity.
>>50694662
Well, we'd need somewhere or something to safely store it and carry it around, with the possibility of exchange.
Maybe lab grown tissues in a freezer? Silicon beakers?
But I dunno, I doubt it would be easily collectible. It would be as hard to collect as weapons, since they are considered life threathning.
>>50694763
I was thinking we could use innocuous diseases at first until people get used to the idea.
>>50694924
You first.
How much edge is too much edge for you?How much edge is not enough edge for you?
A sword should be at least 35 inches long. Anything shorter is silly.
Swords longer than 45 inches get uncomfortable to carry around.
>>50694314
t. skinny lanlet or no muscle obese neckbeard
>>50694601
Eh, it's more of a height issue than anything. Arm length is important for draw
Alright, /tg/, long story short: I'm fucked.
OSR game, party of two. I'm playing this fruity stupid swashbuckler. I've got +4 to attack (16 THAC0, if you seriously are curious) and a DECENT amount of damage. Player opposite me is running a cleric, with a really nice turn undead. Just outright kills maybe 3-4 HD worth of undead, and can be used every 5 minutes. Could it be better? Probably. Maybe.
Gear is pretty basic, got a mundane sword, Cleric's got a mundane sword, but they've only got +1 to attack.
We're in a dungeon. The worst dungeon ever, just absolutely chock full of monstrous undead. It hasn't been bad, but the next encounter is out-and-out death. Six ghouls, each one has three attacks. THREE. And they have 2 HD each. Plus, save-or-die paralysis touch for each one.
Now, neither of our characters know about the paralysis touch, but we might, depending on an intelligence check. So we have that working against us.
We know the encounter is coming down the hall, which can make for a DECENT chokepoint... unfortunately, all the halls are 10'x10'. Retreat is... a dubious option. We don't really run much faster than them.
My kind of saving grace is that I've got a pair of flintlock pistols, so we might be able to take out some of them at range, which would be good. I could use up my (only) powder horn, maybe to blow up a handful of them. There is, however, no guarantee that this will work.
The cleric also has healing — the healing is in fact SO GOOD, and nearly infinite. Could we argue to the DM that the healing should harm these guys? If so, that might actually take out MOST of them... provided the cleric doesn't get paralyzed first.
>>50693704
Ghoul relevant stats:
Armor Class: 6;Attacks: 2 claws +2 and 1 bite +2; Damage: 1d3/1d3/1d3; Move: 30’
Either your DM is out to kill you, or he wants you to flee, because you won't win this.
Either way, running away is the only reasonable option. You don't even need to know about the paralysing for that, it's six against two, just take what you have and leave. If you are lucky you might be able to blow up a door or something on the way out.
>>50694011
Unfortunately we've been able to take out larger groups of lesser enemies. Tactical sense has been loose, unfortunately. I've been ganged up on by like six undead at once, with no regards to crowding.
The dungeon which is randomly generated (poorly, which will be rectified in future dungeons) is basically one long horrible tunnel with no doors. There are very few places to blockade or choke-hold, it was an ancient temple with strange geometries.
I think that we're going to have to acquire throwing-weapons and try to pelt the bastards, or suck up a TPK, though I'd really rather not. There... is furniture, perhaps, that I could use to blockade. Or to use as firewood, maybe? Pews and things, by description. Also further in there's a super dry area with dessicated corpses that were entombed in clay vessels! They're mostly dust, so they'd burn well, but I'm not sure how fire might actually benefit the situation. Are ghouls afraid of fire?
Is a masquerade (like in world of darkness) pointless in fictional settings?
Why would it be?
>>50693465
Not if you want to play around with the supernatural trying to hide itself while not having to adhere to real world history and politics.
>>50693493
When it plays in the real world, you need an explanation why supernatural beings are unknown.
A fictional setting is fictional, so why hide supernatural existence from normal people?
hiding of supernatural existence from normal people

Good morning boys and girls and welcome back to Ask A Judge!
>>50693063
Yeesh, slow morning.
Does pyromancer's assencion get counters from playing cards from your graveyard with harness the storm?
>>50693656
It can, but not the way you probably think.
If I cast an Anticipate while I have a Harness the Storm on board, and another Anticipate in the bin, I get a grand total of one counter on Ascension, from casting that first Anticipate. When the Harness trigger resolves, it'll have me cast the other Anticipate from my graveyard; however, step one of casting it is to move it from the graveyard to the stack. So once I have successfully "cast" that Anticipate, there's no Anticipates in my graveyard, so Pyromancer's Ascension won't trigger.
If there were TWO Anticipates in my bin, though, I would get a trigger from the Harnessed Anticipate, since there's still an Anticipate in my graveyard.
A new Dresden Files game by Evil Hat, powered by Fate Accelerated and evolved from the first Dresden Files. Draft is out to kickstarter backers, and the ensuing discussion on rpg.net and reddit is making it sound pretty awesome.
So, any backers around? What have been your impressions, and how much would you say it's an improvement over the (admittedly vaguer in canon mechanical portrayal and pre-Fate Core) version?
And what's /tg/'s experience with DFRPG up to this point? Did you have any long-running games with unusual character choices or strong canon divergence?
Fate is a mediocre system, the Dresden series are mediocre books, and my experience with both, separate and combined, have been quite terrible.

>>50692568
In DFRPG wizards were kinda broken, how has that been addressed?
Is there a resource that compiles all the character creation information info into one book?
The player's handbook is severely lacking (due to all the unearthed arcana) and filled with too much lore and RP recommendations.
Basically something with all the tables, all the feats, all the races, all the stats.
I'm not sure how to tell you this, but Baldur's Gate is second edition.

Is the middle a PC I forgot, or just a fem Bhaalspawn.
I know one PC turns female, but that doesn't look right.
>>50692100
It's supposed to be the main character.
Edwin turns female, but it's not him. Edwin would wear shoes.
Hey /tg/, what weapons have traditionally proven to be effective against lances, spears and pikes?
>>50691491
God, that lance is huge.
>>50691510
Given. Noted. Anything else?
So Force of will finally made its way to my LGS out here in rural australia and Im kinda dissapointed.
The store had an intro night tonight and I purchased the Light/Fairytale starter deck whilst the only other person to turn up purchased the Malefic Ice deck.
Out of the near two dozen games we played I lost all but one time finding myself either facing down 1200/1200 Flying Ice dragons by turn 4 due to the decks draw power or spent most of my time with my creatures being spun or locked down by control cards.
Is this simply a bad match-up typewise or starter deck blues? With a control style deck available from the get go im just not sure I'm going to be able to enjoy the game once our local community grows and the meta becomes commonplace
It's pretty much dead in the water now.
Stop buying into japanese TCGs. They are the Korean MMOs of the traditional gaming world.
