Well it was 50/50 for 10 seconds.
So far it is 75% in favor of walkers counting as vehicles.
Nth post for the New DG looking for idea for 1500 point lists.Any unit suggestions and or plays would be much appreciated.
For someone who has only ever played D&D, what system would you recommend to them as far as improved combat and character creation goes?
>>50703620
GURPS
>>50703624
For the non-meme answer, Traveller.
>>50703643
This
If you want some fucking amazingly fun character creation classic/Mongoose Traveller's got you covered.
Suppose we have a breakthrough in physics, and discover a way to connect two points in space permanently via a complicated process involving a particle accelerator. Much like a wormhole, except it doesn't involved "hyperspace" or a 4th dimension; there is no tunnel or tube space between the "entrance/exit". You've simply made a portal that allows you to walk from your DC to London in a single step.
Portals can be any size, but larger ones require more resources. They can only be moved if connected to a particle accelerator beam.
What technology can you engineer with this, assuming the process is miniaturized and the expense comes down? What would the world look like? I'm looking for practicality most of all, but also clever exploits.
>>50702758
Obviously we'd have free energy.
>place two portals side by side on a flat surface.
>any object dropped into one will come out with the same velocity from the other, but upwards
>never loses energy but to air resistance, which could be minimized in a vacuum
On a large enough scale this could produce significant power.
>>50702758
Read Hyperion.
In it, mankind invents AI, and that AI invents a bunch of other sweet shit for us including Farcasters. Farcasters are, essentially, what you have described.
All of the many worlds that have Farcasters linking them together are called the World Web. Its so densely linked that you have people with 'apartments' that have rooms in different solar systems.
The only downside is that you have to physically build both ends of the farcaster link. So you need someone to hoof it all the way to a new planet to set up the first farcaster, but after that you can populate the new planet as easily as getting on an elevator.
>>50704033
Couldn't you just build two connected Farcasters initially then launch one at the desired planet, thus eliminating the need for a manned flight?
>In the distant future, a group of scientists embark on a mission to collapse a black hole with some kind of crazy laser beam so they science their way back to Earth.
>They collapse the black hole, and predictably get sucked in, but instead of being transported back to our Earth, they're transported back to string theory meta-earth.
>The party wakes up around a campfire, confused and disoriented. Everyone can remember being in space, but no one remembers how they got here.
>Near by, a slick talking robot is smoking a cigar on the hood of a 1970's muscle car, while trying to convince a duck wearing sunglasses that they should totally just leave this world behind, and move out into the mountains to farm Alpacas, like his brother Dave.
>The party knows something is wrong. Something is very wrong.
What would you, as a player, want to see in this kind of setting? I guess making it back to earth could be the main quest, but what kind of fun nonsensical things would you want to run into? What should I avoid doing?
>>50698776
>collapse a black hole
What do you mean by that?
>predictably get sucked in
>after ?destroying? the black hole
Did the gravitational pull increase from the "collapse"?
I don't understand.
>>50698824
>the city of me
Sun. Collapse the sun into a black hole.
>>50698846
Okay, that makes more sense.
If you want to get scientific about it, *the* sun is not a good object to be turned into a black hole if you want to travel through that hole.
The sun is too small. It would rip you apart before you'd close enough.
But feel free to ignore this.
Can we all stop for a moment and show some gratitude for spread sheet software.
it's ok i guess

I run a very strong Brago list, but it has the same problem that every Brago deck does: it's incredibly boring.
What should I convert it to that's slightly less reliant on the commander? GAAIV seems like a good choice, but I'd be willing to go tricolour if the deck is fun enough. I'm just looking for a deck that will slowly make people lose their will to live, but wont fold the second the commander is countered twice.
>>50695765
>How do you lay down the law?
At some point I realized countering 3 other players spells wasn't an option, so instead of going after their spells on the stack I went after the mana they used to cast them.

BWAHAHA, with the same success they could propose to stream Goldshire inn in Moonguard.
I'll say that it's still amazing that GW is actually starting to look like a modern day game company. The idea that they would have a Twitch stream even just a year ago would be hysterically absurd.
It doesn't compel me to buy into AoS or go back to 40K, but I can at least recognize the improvements.

Pretty sure the GM just told you that because they don't want you back.
What if endricotherium were a playable race?
Im picturing them having hands on their forearms but walking on their knuckles.
>>50693540
>Im picturing them having hands on their forearms but walking on their knuckles.
So Chalicotherium?
>>50694330
Well, still enricotherium, but yes, that was generally where I got the knuckle walking idea from.
I just want to see a huge race in pathfinder (seriously, how would you even play that?), that being said, if they walk on their knuckles, what would their tech look like? How would they even function in a party of adventurers?
>>50696180
Their weapons would probably be less for attacking other creatures of their size and more for swatting away the pesky medium sized enemies below them.

I haven't played too terribly many different kinds of games, but I do like being able to plan out a build. Skill trees, in that respect, give me no end of joy.

For me it was these little fuckers. Used to set them up imagine massive battles in my head and even made a rule set to have battles against my friends. This got me interested in wargaming which led me to getting into 40k and here I am now. Whats your story anons?

Well there was armymen, and then there was heroscape, and now 40k.

Reasonably. I go for what looks cool first, then take out anything that's glaringly unrealistic. Though the armor isn't really based on European plate armor, taking more inspiration from the Romans, imperial China, feudal Japan, and a few other cultures.
So, like, the helmets might not cover their head as thoroughly as it should, but there's not too many unnecessary flourishes.
>>50646352
Real-world owls do that. Lots of cultures do things that other cultures think are weird, so why not?
>>50647148
Wait, real-world owls have decorations?
>>50647148
Two points: real-human-hair-wigs were high fashion in some places in some times, and unless they used feathers from their own species it would be more like humans using other animals furs as decoration, which always has been done everywhere.
...and yes, that is 15mm miniatures, under a magnifying glass....

Sadly pretty typical for the IS-2s; even if they miraculously don't take any effective fire, they still end up not really doing anything. Defence is kind of their ideal.
Also your magic number for withdrawal is 5 platoons, so even if the T-34s hadn't died he wouldn't have withdrawn anything for another turn.
>>50636710
Withdrawing starts on turn 3. He had 4 platoons, so he got a counter. Turn 4, he had 3 platoons and a counter, which is less than 5, so he got another counter. Turn 5 he would have had 2 platoons and 2 counters, again less than 5. If he kept the last two IS-2s alive till turn 6, he would have finally had to withdraw a platoon. But we didn't get that far due to time.
