Just finished the movie and I want to play a game.

Thinking of using Changeling the Lost as base. Mostly because it really works well with vintage feelings. Either throwing away the Mask, the Hedge and Arcadia and just adding changeling powers to normal chidlren. Or including people able to do time loops in a normal Changeling setting.

And we need to fix the time travel problems. How do we fix the time travel problems.

I'm a big fan of playing Lord of the Rings Online music, that shit is great.

I've been really into dungeon synth stuff recently; its goal is to like recreate a fantasy atmosphere. Depressive Silence are the most well-known group I think; I really like Daoine Sidhe, Caduceus, and Solanum. Also, this plunderphonics dude named chris††† released an album that really sounds like dungeon synth called "a better place."

Post magic items, OC or stolen.

>Lather Armor: An ordinary armor, that when activated starts producing lots of foam and suds, like from a bath. This magical foam will instantly clean anything it covers in mere minutes, and vanishes after about 15 minutes.

>Horn of Basting: When this horn is sounded, all roasted meats within 20' become flavorful and juicy.

>Hourstone: A stone that changes colors every three hours as the day progresses. Experienced users can determine exact hours and minutes from the subtle differences in the colors.

>Expelling Boots: These comfortable, airy boots eject rocks, grit, and water for the wearer.

>Tinder Hatchet: Any wood you cut with this axe is instantaneously dry and easy to burn. Acts as a normal hatchet in combat, albeit any limbs it hacks off are dry and easy to burn.

>BEGGAR’S FIRE

>Beggar’s Fire is a magical inscription placed on roughened animal hide that can be struck on an object like a match to cloak the object in flame. In truth, Beggar’s Fire is a blanket term for a great many similar magical hides, and can produce such effects as applying lightning or corrosive acid. Occasionally it has been sewn into purpose-made gloves or pauldrons so that a warrior might strike their weapon with it at a moment’s notice. Beggar’s Fire can be purchased as strips of the rough leather, or as specialized gloves or pauldrons. The gloves can be struck on an enemy to damage them with the associated element, but a warrior might also strike his weapon on the pauldron of an ally without disrupting him in combat.

I've heard people saying that molds can cost $10k

Why are they so expensive? Is it just the quantity of molds (where the raw materials take up the cost)?
For metal, as I understand it, molds aren't permanent, so I guess that would up the cost a bit... But for plastic?

I imagine sculpting can simply be done on the computer, and then have a production quality resin 3d printer print https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTJq9Z5g4Jk
Then make a mold of it, and mass produce.

I want to know about both plastic and metal.
24 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Do you know what kind of mold that $10k figure is referring to?

I doubt it's in regards to a ten figure disc.
>>
>>50708823
They're talking about GW figures, which afaik are even in plastic.
I think I've seen people say such a mold costs them $100k, and so on.
>>
>>50708736
Metal molds for plastic casting wear out too. Remember that the wear limit for a mold is very, very small, because the first thing to go is the tiny bits of metal that define detail on the model. Sure, the plastic puts very little wear on the metal, but it only takes a little wear to fuck it up.

Every time a mold wears out, you need to make a new one from the master model, and every time you do that, the master degrades. Eventually it reaches the point where you need a new master, and that's pretty much the whole initial cost all over again.

I want to make a druid archetype for 5E based on shinto shrine maidens and mixing in some traditional european "wand-wed" elements. For a PC.
Sadly, I am a buffoon best suited for challenging and fun combat encounters.
Can /tg help me?

I think maybe, to start us off, they should get a an item familiar (the wand) that is linked to a sacred tree.

There is a precedent for the ritual use of wands in Shinto, so I guess that works. It's mostly used for purification rituals, according to Wiki.

Vital question : How do you make Scion's system balanced and viable ?

Between the useless as fuck powers for some eities and the fucking busted ones for other, the combat system that takes hours to get your head around and the already made characters that makes you believe this shit is balanced and useable, what can you do with it ?
26 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>50707012

Use a different system.

I use Savage Worlds for everything, but someone has the pasta about why that's bad. Savage RIFTS is something I'm using for everything now.

DnD definitely doesn't work. Or Pathfinder.

Storyteller-style systems are too loosey-goosey for the play style.

WoD can come pretty close. You could finagle something.

Exalted is confusing as fuck.

Probably going to say: Cut it down.

Whatever you do, cut some of that shit down. How complicated does it need to be? Make it so, and no more.

Scion's system is cluttered with useless shit. Cut that out, see what's left, and then choose an appropriate system to port it over to.
>>
>>50707012
This is the first time I've ever seen Scion posted on /tg/ everyone loves all the other White Wolf systems so much its always seemed like the red headed step child with too many dice.

I love the setting but the clutter is obnoxious, I was reading into Godbound for something that can capture a similar feeling within the setting but way less clutter.

>Use a different system.

I ran one game of it and my players and I agreed it was not tolerable. Ported it to FATE, worked fine. You can port it to pretty much any generic or super hero system with little trouble. The mechanics are asinine anyway, so don't bother trying to emulate them, just copy the lore and give similar sounding powers.

AKA ITT: Why Zmbie APocolypses would not be the end of the world.

Pic Related, It's a HESCO barrier. IT's a wire box with heavy duty fabric. You place one of these down, Fill it with dirt or rocks or rubble or paper or what ever the fuck you have enough of, And it's a solid Bullet proof barrier that can be anywhere from a meter to multiple meters tall.

And look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq18pOihjyk You can have ultra fast deployment of this, with just three or four dirt moving machines and some guards/supporitng units, You can have a quarantine zone set up with in mere hours or a forward base of operations with in a day.

See how straight forward and fast [with out editing i bet it took like, two hours max to do that job] it is to set up a firing position?

Yeah it would not resist a massive hoard of zombeis all pushing on it at once, But it would Still be effective at holding off civil unrest and small hoards.

larger sizes, or doublethick walls for those larger sizes would be enough to hold back most hoards I'd expect.
>>
Hope that you nigger are ready for some +200 kilo zombie survivalist to wander in and start to preach how muh WWZ totes proves that modern artillery 6 armor can't deal with zombies and how katana is the supreme anti-zombie melee weapon.
>>
>>50706881
As interesting as I find this stuff (never knew that was what those big sand-blocks I've seen in a million FPS' were called), the reality is that all of fiction is contrived, and zombie apocalypse fiction is no exception.

The people who write these stories are not interested in strict realism. If they were, they wouldn't be writing zombie fiction in the first place. No, they're interested in telling stories about people surviving (or at least, trying to survive) the end of the world. To that end, zombies are invariably blown up to be a far bigger threat than real-world logic would dictate, because that makes for a better story. Likewise, realism is only observed insofar as it makes the story more dramatic.

If having zombies overrun the Earth with ease would establish them as a serious threat, then that's what will happen. If the human characters having to carefully ration their food and water raises the narrative stakes, then that's what will happen. Having the zombie hordes (yes, it's spelt "hordes", not "hoards") be instantly annihilated by the US Army would not make the story any better. It would actually ensure that there was no story in the first place. That is why no writer ever does it.

I would like your guys opinions on retro sci-fi rpgs... games that have that old-fashioned Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon feel, but definitely not limited to those two franchises.
So far I've heard of Rocket Age, Danger Patrol, Space Patrol and GURPS' Tales of the Solar Patrol (wow, they really like the word "patrol"), but I've not yet read any of them. Any other games in this genre that you think I should know about?

Savage Worlds seems to take the old pulp feel as the default for their sci-fi in the core book, especially given the art.
