To be honest, I haven't played it, only read it. But when has that ever stopped anyone here? I found so many things I want to steal for other campaigns just reading it, though. Both setting and mechanical bits.

Yes and no

They are actually pretty small compared to the rest of the major factions, but that doesn't actually mean anything. Because all the other factions are spread so thin or decentralized to such an extent that all arguments about how "easy" it would be for them to crush the Tau Empire are purely academic.

Take the IoM for example. Yes they could just bury the Tau in bodies, if the Imperium could ever pull itself together for a concentrated and focused assault. But they can't because they have countless other problems to deal with and thus the only half assed Crusades they throw against the Tau fail.

Everyone think's the Tau are too small and too new to be a bother, this is their biggest strength. Because they can actually become big and strong in (relative) safety while the other factions mostly ignore them. And as most of the other factions are either stagnant or dying a slow death, this all plays into the expansionist Tau's hands in the long run

I don't think you necessarily need to have extensively thought it out, but I think it's a huge mistake to not have some sort of ending in mind when you make a campaign

I like using the not-ending. Like, the current arc or storyline or whatever gets solved, but there's room to come back to the setting and the characters later if the group wants.

Play a guy who was inadvertently helped by your PC's evil deeds and have him vow to be an anti paladin as recompense. Twist is, he's so bad at doing bad good deeds that you're an actual paladin and he's disappoint about being good and not bad good.

Then have him fight your now NPC and be disgusted at what he's become.

I've yet to find an actual play podcast I can like, though I've heard good things about Milkrun.

My go to /tg/ podcast is System Mastery, which is two guys talking about older, usually terrible, games.

I used to like them until it got obvious with some of the WoD stuff they only halfass read it and then harp on minor stuff.

I like the Glass Cannon podcast, it's not perfect but it hits a blend of comedy and serious RP that's a good fit for me.

Ship choices for Space Hulk so far are as follows. As the hulk gets larger the enemies inside get more deadly and more numerous.

Light Cruiser
Cruiser
Grand Cruiser
Battleship
Fused Abomination

You can choose any heresy era Imperial ship class appropriate to the classification of your Space Hulk (No Abyss class or Gloriana class for Battleship though). Also the last option is just a fused mass of other ships so this won't really apply to that one.

Are there any issues with this or any particularly appealing ships not covered by this?

Burning Wheel, if you don't mind a rules-heavy system. Conflicts in BW are all about fighting for what your character believes in.
