I'm planning on mashing Eclipse Phase and Battletech together so that I can run a homebrew. Has anyone tried this before, are there any obvious problems with joining the systems together?
I imagine the only changes that actually need to be made will be with certain skills.
You seriously need to rework your mechs, because EP's powerlevel is pretty insane.
I mean, you can just deck out an EP combat character, and that character will pretty much count as a whole squad of Elementals taking out mech squadrons like it's nothing.
>>50769946
On-foot characters aren't going to be fighting mechs. It'll be EP rules inside the city, where everything is on foot, and BTech rules outside of the city where it's Mech combat.
>>50769641
Have you decided what sort of technology goes into a 'mech? The computing baseline of EP is much higher than a Cold War military jet + fancy helmet and if your players are like my players they are going to want to trick out their rides. They might be more reasonable than my " Our unit standardized camouflage pattern is a lethal basilisk hack" players but you'd best plan ahead
Is there a Pathfinder sort of thing for 4th?
>>50769581
as far as I know there is no wildly popular yet objectively worse version of 4th
>>50769581
No, unfortunately
I wish 13th Age didn't suck
Google is your friend, OP.
But short story no, long story people are doing retroclones like Strike and Open4E, but due to a lack of OGL there's no actual 4.5 system out there.

Fuckin' TechPriests. The only reason they fuck toasters is because they can't get real women.
I can hear screams of space marines, saying that it's over powered.
however their puny Mastodon Heavy Assault Transport is nothing compared to what is coming...

That's a Colossus you fucking retard.
My campaing is taking place in the winter in a remote mountain town. In past week four level 4 adventurers have ridden the small town of bandits and have made a significant strike versus regional goblin bandits. Now I have a 2-3 days lasting storm planned for them. They should survive it in this small town that is sort of used to such winter conditions. I plan to put roleplaying in foreground in this case, but I wondered ... what else could I include in such an event? Its DnD so maybe some frost elemental attacks? Or perhaps something not so cheesy? Got anything for me, /tg/?
thanks

Bodysnatchers. Some of the citizen are not actually human / elf /whatever. They're parasites that are slowing trying to take over the village. Investigation.
Lycanthropy. A man in the village is a werewolf, and the wolves of the forest have brown bold. They seek prey in the citizen, and they are hungry. Action, perhaps some investigation.
Vampirism. A vampire has seeked shelter in a nearby, unknown ruin. It drains a citizen every other day. Investigation.
Wendigoes. Forced into cannibalism after getting lost in the forest, the surviving members of a small group of travellers are circling the village, attacking anyone who leaves the comfort of civilisation.
A group of nomads roll into town before the storm hits. Things get stolen from houses and food dissapears. is it the nomads or something else. (Kobolds ect.)
The snowstorm should produce enchanted snowmen who wobble around causing harmless mischief like moving stuff around or adding it to their bodies and scratching their stick arms on windows and doors at night but revert back to behaving like regular snowmen when no one is looking except for the village drunk who saw one in action.
They should also be very jolly and carefree and when confronted by your players, they'll feel a close bond to the lovable little guys, but after the snowstorm passes they revert into just being non-magical snowmen thus breaking their hearts.

Paladin UA is today. What are your expectations? We already have a fey paladin and anti undead paladin in core, so I'm really on the edge of my chair.
So I normally play D&D Adventurer's League at a store but I can't make it for the next few sessions and the next time I can play is somewhere halfway in January. Should I try to find an online game somewhere? I've only played in real life before and I'm not sure playing online would work for me. What are your experiences with fifth edition one shots and short campaigns online?
Additionally, what is the most fun race/class/background combo to play at level one? If I'm going to do a short one-shot I want to do more than just hit something with my sword real good.
What kinda math crunch would need to be done to switch d20s to 3d6s?
I want my settings dwarves to be a well developed society loosely based on the Mesopotamian cultures. Can /tg/ give me some ideas besides
>Impressive masonry
>War carts

Give me your top ten rpgs. Any criteria.
don't be pussies, /tg/
>>50768521
I haven't even played that many. I'll rank what I have though.
1. D&D 3.5 - My intro to rpgs, so it's special to me. Plus I like the forgotten realms setting.
2 V:tM - very interesting both setting-wise, meta plot wise, and mechanically. My only non d20 system.
3 Star Wars d20 - familiar enough to be accessible but fresh enough to be interesting. Plus EU Star Wars.
4 DnD 5e - familiar enough to be accessible but fresh enough to be interesting. Minus EU Star Wars.
5 Radiance - d20 system some guy made with his free time. Mostly D&D with some neat twists on the rules and a setting with lots of races and optional technology levels.
6 Pathfinder - fixed some issues of 3.5, but feat bloat, trap options, and rampant modifiers still abound. Much, much less charming without the nostalgia glasses and with a new setting. Plus it's all my fucking group plays.

FATE Core
I don't need anything else because it can do everything great (which is why I like it)
>>50768521
In no particular order,
#1: Burning Wheel. One of the best combinations of decision-ridden gameplay trees and character heavy focus of any game system I've played. Intricate and interesting character creation because lifepaths give necessary character direction without the restrictiveness of classes or the decision paralysis of point buy character creation. Manages to account for a very wide range of character progression makes it satisfying to play long term. Lots of player skill involved with conflict resolution.
#2: Legends of the Wulin. Basically all of the above but in the context of a kickass wuxia themed game. Manages to be rules-heavy where none of the rules feel stupid or pointless. It's so fucking good.
#3: Tenra Banshou Zero. Very novel 1-shot focused game that plays more like theatre than conventional p&p. Pretty cool setting with very cool character concepts/classes. The Kiai economy is actually the singular best meta currency economy that has ever been devised.
#4: Maid RPG. Captures the "random chaos" style of game so amazingly well that no other game can quite replace it for times where I just want to have some dumb fun. It's fucking great
When I run campaigns, I like the PCs to be part of an organisation/guild/gang from the very start. The reasons are many:
>not having to write much backstory, it all ties in better
>it gives a conforting sense of belonging, players are also much willing to go along a set plan when they roleplay as a gang than as a bunch of mismatched marysues.
>Its easier to fit new characters as the PCs die. You can always say that a new member has ascended in the order or just been recruited.
>Is easier to find drives and plot hooks. The higher parts of the gang/order have a mission for the PCs. If they are the leaders, just ask them what's the next goal for the gang. Then make a game out of it. This sets my players playing on their non-gaming time, talking and planning what's the new direction the team should take.
Seriously guys, try it.
I'm planning a new game set on a faux europe-late XIX century. I'm wondering if the PCs should all be a team of spy knights at the service of a queen (think james bond set on that age) or more like the local rangers of a frontier town (like medieval texas rangers, you know, rural police).

Organized prostitutes
>PCs are four-five bards on a tour (not bards as class, but as a side-profession for their class -fighter, thief, whatever)
>they're like the most famous band of the moment
>the land is having an age of riots and revolutions, censorship, fascism; the brink of a civil war. The rulers are somehow against them doing the tour at all, and will try to find them guilty of something as an excuse to have them executed.
>They must travel the land in disguise.

>>50767089
Find a copy of Dragons of Faerun.
That's pretty much what happened when Tchazzar returned to his kingdom at the end of the Dracorage.
So. Did people follow through with that 'roll for a RotJR character and talk about them' thing?
You spent the last five years in wizard college studying and practicing your ass off. It nearly bankrupted your family paying for the schooling, the materials and the robes but that's okay. You will get it all back once you become a great wizard some day. You are finally able to cast some lev 1 spells after years of preparation. Now you can get to work trying to get more powerful so that you can be a great wizard.
And then you see this smug bitch come along. She was just born capable of casting top level ice element spells, can summon ice familiars and generate fully intelligent ice golems as well as dominate the local weather without really any cost or heightened intelligence or charisma. She is totally immune to the element just because, and then conjures up whole castles on a whim.
She doesn't even know how she does it, knows no incantations, does not even know what the fuck a focus is, and never heard of preparing a spell.
How do you react?
Aayy bby want sum fuk?
>>50766854
Rape her, then start researching mind-transfering spells so that I can transfer myself into the body of our rape-baby 20 years later.

If it ever stops working she's lost. SO i'm fine. Not only has that 5 years taught me how to actually be a wizard, I was able to network with other wizards, have fun blowing up shit, and have loads of expirences that will further my wizard career.
The candle that burns twice as bright last half as long.

I mean c'mon it's the current year people. Why are you so stuck with making knights in this progressive era. Sigmarines are where it's all at.

What tables are we using OP?
If mankind in Warhammer are basically Catholic Space Nazis, why do you play as them? Why not the Orks, Tyranids or Chaos?
Why must you always purge, /tg/?
To feed your God Emperor more humans?
Because the Codex tells you to?
What is it that drives you to purge and exterminate?
>>50764610
Because they're part of the species I belong to, you assfuck. You're telling me you'd rather get duped by knife ears, stomped by orkz, or eaten/raped by any number of cosmic horrors instead of picking up a lasgun and being the master of your own destiny?
You make me sick, bugfucker.
>>50764651
Raped by cosmic horrors sounds fun though :^)
>>50764744
Go do that, then. I'll enjoy lasgunning your misshapen, tortured body after they're done with it. Hell, you probably will too.
