You are a Giant. Born into a society of humans, dwarves or other hominids. It is your sacred duty to protect your family and your home.

Giants have protected society since the ancient age of dragons. Where the strength of man drove the destructive creatures to near extinction.

While the dragons of old are no longer as numerous as they were thousands of years ago, other massive hostile beasts roam the world, And mankind will always prey upon itself when the weight of civilization cracks the ground beneath it.

Giants take traits similar to societies they are born from. A mining community may spawn a giant that has ore deposits in their skin. Or a nomadic society may have the features of a herd animal common to that region.

ok one per game like RRs that's not too bad. I don't see why you wouldn't want one game one especially with rats. there's not really a reason not to if you can get 11 guys and 3 rerolls game one right?

I was the OP, I admit.

Mostly wanted to see if this trainwreck can be revived.

All in all, my Misfortune system has gone through an entire rehaul. I still need to remodel the YankESP pdf:s to have the same information as the current version.

New things:

>Despair Mechanic: Imagine it as my own rendition of the TBZ's death-mechanic... Somewhat. You gain Despair when you fail when stakes are high, fail miserably or push your character to get autosuccesses or massive bonuses to rolls.
>If you roll same or under your Despair, you gain a detriment: First one is Self-Doubt, second is Grievous injury and third one is Death.
>Despair heals really slowly, so it is really dangerous in the long run.

>New rules for Powers, whatever they are in the setting:
>You never roll against your Ordinary score, instead whether you can activate your Powers is dependent of the same roll. If you roll over your Ordinary score, you can activate your powers freely, if you roll same or lower, you can activate it, but you gain one Strain.
>Strain works as a number stacking on top of your Ordinary score. If your Ordinary + Strain = 10, your character runs out of juice.

>Reintroduced stacks as a general mechanic, works the same as before.

Still to add:

>All-out: Using strain until Ordinary + Strain = 11 and getting X amount of bonus to a roll. (Probably huge amounts).

Such is life, been a while since I've seen one of these threads and I've been meaning to get some feedback.

Now, here is HVM, described by some as the bastard child of Savage Worlds and Dungeon World. Originally started out as me trying to make Not!Conan (hence the name), but soon developed into a generic system.

Additions since 1.3
>Removed Valor, it was a meta-currency that I liked, but was a hold over from previous editions.
>Put in Open Resource, pretty much the "I want my game to have X," like a Wealth Mechanic, Insanity, etc
>Renamed my 2d6's to Action Dice. They can, and should be, abused by your GM.
>Added Advanced Combat, adding more to do during a combat encounter if that's what you want out of the game.
>Tweaked some of the numbers for combat.

Go to town /gdg/
Also, BUMP FOR THE BUMP GODS

I'm planning on running a Cyberpunk 2020 game in the real near future, and I've been running tests and figuring out the system with friends. We've hit a bit of a sticking point in combat.

Pistols seem stupidly underpowered. While that is slightly realistic and sort of makes sense, the particular reasons they are seem wrong. It basically comes down to their ROF. While two rounds isn't bad for their damage in the incredibly lethal system, the way the ROF is described in terms of actions seems like we're reading it wrong or they're basically a worthless item.

In the book, it says you can attack up to ROF in one turn. Sounds fine, right? Except the ROF on some guns exceeds their fucking loading, so you can theoretically attack someone 35 fucking times in one turn. On top of that, the way the armor works is kind of top-loaded with excessive damage mitigation, which also really gimps the pistols.

There's ways around it, and it mostly relies on DM discretion, but I'd like someone with some experience to describe how they ran it or how it's supposed to work, because it seems like we're maybe reading it wrong. On top of that, I had and found a couple old resources that mention that there have been systems and fixes for this sort of thing, but most of those old sites that actually had them seem to have gone down.

tl;dr: Trying to run Cyberpunk 2020, need some advice or homebrew fixes for balancing pistols and armor, and the different combat rolls between a basic attack, burst fire, and full-auto.
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Remember that damage is maxed out at point blank range and doubled for headshots. A rinky dink 2d6 pistol does 24 damage if you shoot someone in the back of the head with it. Also remember that armor degrades and does not stack linearly. Those parts of the combat system exist for a reason.
But yeah, pistols are not the weapons you use for heavy duty combat, and full auto wrecks people if you hit with it. Just how it is.
>>
>>50782032
Also keep in mind that 8 damage destroys a limb, or at least renders it a useless hunk of meat, and that includes the head.
>>
Oh, you also have to keep in mind legality and police response. Nobody bats an eye at someone wearing light/concealed armor and carrying a pistol. Maxtac gets a call when someone strolls in wearing MetalGear and carrying an assault rifle. In the Combat Zone, it doesn't really matter. Anywhere civilized, you have to watch your appearance and can't just haul around the big guns.

What does /tg/ think of recasting? Any anons have tips, recent projects, guides?

Recasting is bad, stop trying to put GW out of business, they don't deserve such horrible treatment by the supposed customer base, how dare you!
>>
>>50781459
Its alright, though honestly I dont see the point. Unless you're playing for fun, which nobody does anymore, your army wont change very much over time, so saving up to make an army that works isnt that unreasonable.
>>
>>50781459
It's not as cheap as you think, especially starting up when you are just trying to get things going. Especially after so much trial and error of getting things figured out. Even when following the advice of an experience caster, you find your beginning molds and casts are generally failures.

Materials are not cheap. You use a lot of 2part resins, and they are only cheap when bought in mass bulk.

So if you are just wanting 5 more terminators and not willing to shell out $50 for a brand new plastic kit, then be willing to shell out $75 for shoddy soft detail recasts.

However when you get the method down and get a good assembly line going, then it becomes worth it as you can make a lot with it.

So it depends on your goals with it. A lot of recasters seek to sell their recasts to pay for more materials and make the whole effort worth their while.

Otherwise just buy chinese recasters and hope for the best.

>I tend to trust /tg/ about 40k more than your local neckbeard, but as someone who doesn't know a lot about the hobby, they're better about explaining it than I imagine we are.

I mean you're describing variance, first and foremost /tg/ is super biased to be negative, if something isn't tournament competitive we call is shit and cry about how big bad evil GW has shit in our sundae, then we go take our marine demi-battle-companies to a local store with all our free rhinos and complain how AoS squatted fantasy.

On average a random in a local store will be much less...opinionated than us, and they might even admit that warp talons are super cool looking and would be fun to paint.

The fact is we can explain the hobby, but teaching a game requires visual stimulation which a character limited and anonymous image board can't provide. Hence in person demos and/or youtube tutorials.

What people here forget is that just because something isn't tournament viable doesn't mean it's unplayable, not everyone is WAAC and in fact most people don't play tournaments.

Explain
>>
>>50780009
You build the character's physical stats and background up to the trigger event. A trigger event is basically the worst moment of the worst day of your life, the moment you realise that everything has gone horribly wrong and there's nothing you can do. The exact nature of a trigger event roughly correlates to what kind of power that person receives. The exact power though is decided by council, which is every player other than you. You can't talk at all during the discussion and the council looks over guidelines and classifications before hammering out the exact details of whatever power you get.
