who do you think has the saddest story in 40k? primarch, inquisitor, xenos, demon, whatever. on the flip side - who do you think has the most triumphant story. who is a shining example of what could be in 40k?

for me, curse is sort of screwed from the start. He knew how and when he would die, he hated his legion, he was very very alone from beginning to end, or maybe angron because he never really had a chance with the nails doing their work. for most triumphant...guardsman olianus pius. because come on.

I did a eldritch horror game set in colonial africa recently. My players had way too much fun oppressing natives, and not so much fun finding out why those silly pygmies worshiped that strange rock.

My main area of concerns are:

No because I can draw and am a somewhat competent digital illustrator.
HOWEVER.

I don't mind commission art if it's for an ERP character, since as good as I am at drawing porn, you can't really get the same 'thrill' off of your own art.

I'm going to DM my very first game via play by post on Mythweavers.

Any advice for using battle maps for combat encounters? I'm thinking of putting them into a google doc so people can edit or make suggestions when it comes time to battle it out.

I'm not going to be doing a strict turn order per enemy but group actions so it's a little easier. I'll also be posting enemy stats and having players roll their attacks and deal damage themselves. Gives them the opportunity to write out how fights ensue too.

Use theater of the mind as much as possible if you're running 5e, you will remain sane. Just post appropriate maps as a jpeg and throw in a quick edit every couple of rounds if you have to.

Bad idea.

A better idea is to assemble or draw some stock art representing whatever points of interest are in the battle.

Example using the phandelver map you have there, have Forest-Cliff-Road. Players on the road cannot see what's in the forest, but the reverse is true in the forest for the road.

This makes it a lot easier in fights to say "You can attack the bandit leader who stopped you with your sword, but not the archer shooting down at you." With that.

I'm going to be running a few Shadowrun games for classmates that have never heard of the setting but we're totally on board with my sales pitch of "Blade Runner with dragons and elves and shit."
What's the best mission to introduce them to as much of the 6th world as possible in a few runs? It doesn't have to be mind blowing just enough to sell the setting.

So, I was in a one shot where everyone commanded a faction of monsters earlier today. While everyone else was a demon, bullette, displacer beast, or other such normalness, I chose to be a druid obsessed with weasels. The more I played the Weasel Druid, the more I wanted to use him as a villain, and wondered-why did he love weasels? What would his evil master plan be? Who would be his most trusted henchman (or henchweasel)? What do you think, /tg/?

So me and some of the guys at the FLGS decided to compile and playtest some optional 8e rules. Rate them, maybe offer suggestions?

Frontal armor giving better saves is too much, make it different toughness values on different arcs.

Use whatever facing rules you want. IMO, 8th hasnt actually lost much positional depth, especially the new character rules are pretty interesting, combined with auras and stuff.

Flamers dont hit flyers is good. Flamers ignore cover is also good.

I hope you realize how retarded this rule is.
Conscripts become rapidfire 2. With orders, that becomes 8 shots within 12" firing range. Thats 400 shots. Think about that.

Alright guys, getting to have the conversation with one of my players that he can't drink before or during our sessions anymore. I hate to single the guy out but he's getting to be a huge hassle to play with. He's too drunk to interact with the game and in the times he is capable of interacting...he has no clue what's going on or what he's doing. It's too much, and as the DM, I feel like I have to intervene on the behalf of the other players. They've come to me outside of the game and expressed varying levels of displeasure or discomfort. We've had 8 sessions and 3 of them had him pass out drunk shortly after the session.

I'm really bummed about the whole situation /tg/. I'm damn sure not looking to solve this guy's pretty blatant alcohol problem but damn.
