Just looking for generic tokens and specifically town tokens in a thumbnail format for building a simple map. I google searched it and came up with nothing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why would an individual going into combat use such a substandard set of external defensive modular plating? Said modules are of minimal utility at best for defense. Said module sets and the manufacturers of said module sets should be deactivated and recycled.

Perhaps these items have some sort of ritual significance as symbolic armor, rather than providing a mundane defense.

It is a title, but there are a few notable individual knights and groups of knights that are prominent in my setting.

The Moon Knights - A monastic cult/religion from the not hybrid arabia/japanese region who specialize in sacred and exotic fighting styles. They mostly exist to murder the shit out of anyone who tramples on their sacred sites, temples, or ruins, but occasionally travel out to track down anything that "escapes" the duty of their purview.

The Ur Knights - The first elves, and the first "knights," created to fight off the tide of the first man in the first age. Lots of firsts. They wore armor made of living quicksilver, wielded swords made from the roots of silver plants, and were essentially less-edgy wringwraiths.

The Wolf Guard - The knights of the house of the wolf, the house of the current queen of a major nation in the setting. They effectively serve as the queen's personal guard, but function more like her personal military company in times of war, which she leads from the front. They spurn shields, and instead fight with a traditional two-sword fighting stance or with lances.

The 27th Dragoons - A guerrilla fighting company who's service was so pivotal in the last great war that each and every man was granted land rights and was therefore technically knighted. Their fighting style and role has such changed to be essentially SAS, they fight with very well coordinated assaults, wear light armor, and fight with bayonets and carbines while rappelling through windows/breaching doors.

OK hear me out, but the fantasy mech thread we just had combined with recently playing Arcanum got me thinking. I believe most of you will agree with the following 3 points, but I have a way for them to solve each other.

1) Mechs, especially humanoid ones are fucking retardedly inefficient and overcomplicated for what they do.

2) When wizards and their fireballs exist in a setting, the traditional view of fantasy armies forming ranks and marching in formation is suicidal, as a single spell could decimate your army.

3) Fantasy settings never seem to advance technologically, despite their being incentive to do so. Small inventions appear but they never get adopted to move everyone forward.

My idea is to take the how magic and technology interact (or don't) from Arcanum. Magic bends and breaks natural laws and so fucks with nearby technology. Technology uses and reinforces natural laws and so fucks with nearby magic. Whichever is more powerful tends to suppress the other.

Say technology suppressing magic was based almost solely on its complexity? At first you might have early leaders with a wooden contraption which has a lot of moving parts when you turn the handle, giving themselves some protection. Eventually you get complicated probably wind, animal, and at some point steam gizmos that are complex enough to suppress magic that could harm nearby troops. Perhaps you get weird music boxes in your marching band that prevent fireballs exploding that column.

Eventually people want to use the mechanical devices to actually fight in combat, but for the most part things that kill effectively are simple. Even making a steam powered cart the cart is simple enough to be fireballed, even if the steam engine is still running fine in the crater afterwords.

Enter battlemechs ala Dragonmech. Absolutely, completely, and absurdly overcomplicated humanoid mechs. Which is perfect for what the setting wants. They don't want efficiency. They want complexity. They don't progress into electricity because going from a walking armored babbage engine to a light bulb is a severe step down in complexity.

Knights in the setting become mech pilots, with their castles holding a mech stable. Armies march with their mechs knowing them to be safe from enemy spellcasters, but spellcasters are still present in the army for when the enemy mechs go down.
Mechs and infantry fight mechs.
Infantry and cavalry fight wizards.
Wizards win when the mechs are destroyed.
You need something beyond just mechs and or wizards to ensure it isn't just unstoppable force/immovable object or a fair fight.

Mechs are justified specifically because of their retardedness.
Traditional fantasy armies still get to go at it and be recognizable as such despite wizards.
Technology doesn't advance because progress is focused on complexity not improving.

And you can even avoid guns if you're somehow fine with mechs but not guns, because they're fairly simple compared to a compound bow. As with electrical stuff, the precision (relatively) equipment desired to make them might be complex, but the actual items themselves are not.

To explain why biomachinery aka life doesn't have the Supressor effect maybe it's just complicated moving metal that does it? Or perhaps chemical complexity doesn't count, only mechanical, further suppressing advancement.

And obviously the physical laws of the setting would have to be different from our to allow mechs, but hey there's already magic. My point was to provide a reason for mechs that wouldn't equally benefit any more reasonable option.

Thoughts?

What supplementary materials do you use in your games, /tg/?
A letter with a proper wax seal?
Physical maps with frayed edges and stained with tea?
Actual bread and mead for when the players relax in a tavern after a long day of dungeon diving?
Tell me about what physical props/materials you use to keep your players immersed and engaged.
Personally, I'm running a modern mercenary campaign in an alternate earth, so I'm writing up physical contracts for the players to sign at the table, as well as global security briefings to catch them up on "the state of the world" IC.

I like maps, I usually make somefor my games.
I've done a puzzle box I once found at a thrift store, just had to sand and reprint it.
I cook for games but it's sort of unrelated? I tie it into the game as a joke, but I just host dinner.

Write up a greentext of something noteable from a game you were part of or have heard from gaming buddies. Don't just post "lel ebin sir bearington" caps, share your own experiences.

One that my GM tells from, I believe, an AD&D game. Its secondhand, so I may be getting some of the delivery wrong.
>game draws some inspiration from Escaflowne, in that there exists tech powered by the hearts of slain dragons
>party is hunting dragons to power tech
>particularly evil and notably vain blue dragon in the area
>party bard/face gets an idea
>starts buying up all kinds of canvases and painting supplies
>party treks out to slay the dragon
>dragon comes out of its lair, menacing
>"all who approach my lair should be prepared to be eaten"
>bard launches into a speech
>"If you wish to kill us and eat us that's fine, but I'm a painter from a faraway land, and I could die happily if you would only allow me to paint your magnificence"
>The bard is obviously laden down with painting supplies, so the dragon begrudgingly accepts the bard's offer and allows him alone entry to the lair
>bard sets up easel, canvas, etc., begins painting
>after a time, bard gets angry (IC) and rips the canvas to shreds, saying it's all wrong
>does this two or three times, explaining he wants to make this painting perfect, and the dragon obliges, albeit confused
>eventually gets so frustrated (still IC), he tears down the easel and canvas, and starts wildly waving the paintbrushes through thin air, paint and weak illusion magic splashing everywhere
>after a few minutes of this, the hard exhaustedly says that it's finished, it's perfect
>dragon is confused, obviously doesn't see anything
>bard says you have to want to see it
>"I want to see it!"
>"You have to want to believe!"
>"I want to believe!"
>Bard casts hypnotic field, makes the argument OOC that it should be no save, since the dragon wanted to believe
>DM allows it
>"And that's how we saved the land"

Goddamn, I wish I'd been there

>Everyone reached the mothership in their own way
>Rogue stealthed his way, engineer raised an army of civilians and Mad Maxed
>I decide to get my own army and go to Eldritch World
>DM doesn't understand what I'm doing
>Collect small army of monsters using Dominate Beast

>the canyon's valleys and caves lead to the "Shadow-lands", areas that seemingly span continents and are seperated in time and space from one another
>as there is no way of being fully self-sufficient in the village of the middle, the village sends out people brave and strong enough to collect the shadowland's resources
>however, its nature is not to be taken lightly. moreso than the intimidating wildlife, monstrosities and sinister figures, it is the lingering curse of the lands that only allows few days to weeks of trespassing before one gets claimed by it

The ancient City of the Oracle - often invaded, never conquered. Countless eons it has stood, and while each successive civilization has added to the city, somehow each successive conquest has left much of the city intact. As a result, a hodgepodge of various architectures and races inhabit it.

A mysterious curse overcomes any civilization that has invaded it, and the representatives of those vanished civilizations have remained in the city, degenerate and dangerous. All came to receive the blessing of the Oracle - a single wish.

Once every thousand years, the doors to the Oracle open to a worthy aspirant - one who can pass the Four Trials, conquer the Sleeping Kings, and find their way through the twisting, prehuman streets of the First City to the Temple of the Oracle. Whoever stands before the Oracle receives a single wish. None know now what the wishes have been, though it is known that all of the Sleeping Kings have recieved a wish.

The omens have begun - the Oracle's gates will open. Will you receive your wish? Or will you become just another lost legend in the tale of the City of the Oracle?

that sounds cool. so there is basicly some kind of century old forbidden city in the middle of it all?

Sup, /tg/. I need some help.

I've got an excellent opportunity to GM for open table using systems of my liking. There will be a more or less constant base of players, but party members may float. The problem is, I don't have experience with GMing in this environment and neither are people in platform open table will be based on. Therefore, I have some questions:

I want to run long games. Is it possible to run campaigns in such conditions or should I stick with one-shots?
I never GM for parties with more than 5 people. Should I organize some sort of prescripted queue before each session?
I'm worried about effectiveness of party. Is it possible to make parties balanced in this environment?
I'm always demanding a half-page to one-page document with info about character. Is it a good idea to keep these practice in 'floating' conditions?
Any general advice for my situation?

The trick to running campaigns: start with 2-3 one-shot adventures with the same characters. Put little tiny threads that connect them. Then expand from there.

Floating is fine, just have them all part of the same organization to explain how they float in and out.

Court-based settings such as Vampire or L5R, where the party all stay in the same location, atleast as a homebase can also be great if people float around as these lent itself to political intrigue.

Do any of you happen to have any interesting grpahics of these lovable, shadowy scamps?
