OK guys I'm trying to think of a cool use for Veterans that isnt just fucking throw in chimera and point at enemy blobs with special weapons.

So for 141 points, you can get

>sergeant harker
>Heavy weapons squad
>3 sniper rifles
>Forward sentries

Park that in a nice piece of cover and thats a lot of firepower with good saves and can't get raped by charges too hard.

I like the idea of the funnel and wacky "knaves and kobolds games." I don't think I could see myself playing an extended campaign of it when things like LotFP and S&W exist.

And the guys behind it burning a bunch of 4e books was a juvenile stunt. I've never played 4e and don't give a shit about it, but burning defenseless books make my book-loving inner child furious.

My first thought, and issue, is that I don't want the dungeon to appear cursed, at least at first. I'm looking for an almost silent hill style atmosphere in that the dungeon itself should feel like the enemy, more than any monster or enemy.

I don't want to start off with that, though, laying it on too strong too early. Indeed, I imagined the first couple of sessions being explorations into the dungeon, getting their bearings before they return to safety.

eventually though, there isn't going to be a way out, and what were once mapped routes are going to become strange hallways and darkened rooms. At that point they're trapped, and I get to have fun with it, but the key is getting there without being too obvious or too heavy handed.

Which leaves me with the problem of the initial plunges. As I said, I don't want to go with the cliche of some treasure waiting at the end, so I'm looking for something else. One thing I did consider is having the dungeon either be discovered or somehow appear, and then having the characters be part of one of many hired groups sent to investigate. This can give me some NPCs to work with, of course, and to sacrifice(or otherwise use) as things get more sinister.

This is purely opinion, but the color pie is far too narrow, and this sort of shit is the reason why. There is room for a little bit of flexibility in all of the colors. I'm not looking for a complete bleed of abilities all over the map, but there's got to be some flexibility otherwise the game is just going to stagnate eventually. Hell, it already has.

Could you please stop? I understand you're a dumb troll and you do it for (yous), but people have asked you time and time again to stop making these threads early just to choose offtopic images and then add really lame questions to try and pretend you're not a shitposter.

Simplest solution I can think of would be to have Light going all the time, which is a cantrip and lasts 10 minutes per level.

So you pretty much get to argue with the DM for a bit about exact placement of those Light effects (or whether light comes out of every part evenly) so that you never cast a shadow. Of course this might be moot depending on what exactly he's counting as a shadow -- inside of your clothes? Spaces between hair?

There is also a line in the Magic Weapons section that is almost never paid attention to that says 30% of all magic weapons glow (as if by the Light spell), so you could go looking for a bunch of glowing +1 [arbitrary tiny weapons] to strap all over your body

There are also a bunch of spells that break Divination, which may or may not work depending on how the DM thinks this Shadow Throne thing works. None of the good ones are on the Paladin list, unfortunately, but you might be able to convince a wizard to cast it for you, or go on a sidequest for a magic item version, though.

interesting, now, I am allowed (due to essentially some of the rule of cool for this settings paladins) to have masses of candles melted onto my pauldrons that I can light and extinguish with a thought, but the thing is, technically even having a ton of light on both my shoulders still causes me to cast a shadow and would cause shadows to be cast by people or objects around me. the effect you really, really want is Mind Blank, which lasts 24 hours, makes all divinations against you autofail and any scrying/remote viewing shit that hits you tangentially cannot see you (meaning you are invisible to a Scry spell targeting the guy next to you). It's also an 8th level spell, which it doesn't sound like your party is anywhere near access to. But that does mean a "Divination Go Fuck Yourself" effect is absolutely a thing in 3.5. Which sounds a lot like sidequest material to go find a magic item or a series of words that replicates it or a lesser version.

Just about all the lesser anti-scrying spells/effects I can find are either location based (like Private Sanctum), offer the diviner a roll to pierce it (like nondetection) or depends very heavily on how, precisely the Shadow Throne works (would repeated area Dispels throw it off temporarily? Does he have to actively pick one shadow to look through, or does he see all of them at once? What exactly counts as a shadow?)

People say that monopoly breaks up families, starts civil wars and causes crops to fail. But the simple truth is that those same people often end up going back to that game over and over again and even having a modicum of fun in the process. Why is this a factor?
Furthermore, consider also monopoly's rules. They are actually semi-complex for a commonly played game, to the degree that a lot of rules (IE auctioning) are ignored or house-ruled. But in spite of this apparent complexity it is still a fair favourite compared to games such as Risk. Clearly there must be something here to make it attractive in spite of the apparent complexity.

Because those people probably don't have any games other than Monopoly, and owning a copy of Monopoly is something most people do just because it's one of those social norms, like owning a coffee machine even if you don't drink it yourself or just go to fucking Starbucks all the time. It sits on the shelf between the decades-outdated Trivial Pursuit and the unfinished 1,000-piece puzzle.

I've been running a few sessions of it with my usual group. It's generally been fun, the only complaint so far is that one player wishes he had a bit more freedom in terms of his character's abilities, otherwise everyone has really liked the system and the kinds of situations it produces.
