Character ideas for a superstitious cleric of a god of fate?
I'm playing a game soon and wanted more ways to interpret omens aside from throwing sticks and asking my god whether or not we'll be BTFO in the next encounter.

How about an obsession with repeating digits and other reoccurring patterns?

I've had a stroke of inspiration on mimics during our latest Pathfinder session. Decided to write a few things down on everybody's favorite treasure chests.
Feel free to use it in your campaign, or continue brainstorming with me to expand on it.
Or just critize it, whatever.

>As doppelgangers commonly reproduce by mating with other humanoids, with their offspring being completely doppelganger, the doppelganger urged the mimics to leave some females alive for him to reproduce. Many years went by, and eventually the town had dozens of doppelgangers. By that time, most parts of the town had been replaced by mimics.

Nice rapey magical realm you got there.

I've been on a spree recently and bought quite a few roleplaying games - Palladium Fantasy RPG (with two supplemental guides), the RIFTS corebook, D&D corebook, Trail of Cthulhu, Baker Street RPG and Finnish "Age of the Tempest".

I just haven't been able to play any of them yet since it's tough to find roleplayers in this country. fml

I'm kind of curious about something... would anyone happen to know any issues of Rifter that contain RIFTS scenarios set in the Nordic countries? Or whether a supplemental RIFTS book contains any information on what happened to them after the rifts opened? I live in Finland and would love to come up with a scenario set here.

I am looking to run a Campaign set in the mid 19th century wherein the players are exceptional Gentlemen (or ladies should a player desire to play a women) who are tasked with transporting an artifact across the world while being hunted, I want the main fixture of the game to be in the firearms of the 1840's and narrative focused on how the players secure transportation while evading the groups intent on securing the artifact for themselves. Are there any systems that can do this well? I won't be needing any system for magic as the players won't have access to it in any meaningful way.

Fate core works. It allows for social combat as well, and even only taking mortal stunts means everyone will play different.

Maybe WHFRP without the lore and setting?

How do you combat the extreme fatigue of shit game after shit game after shit game?

> Everybody on R20 is either a shithead or illiterate or in the wrong timezone for you and hardly any games are Text Only (ok this last one is more my problem but bad acting and everyone yelling over each other < well thought out dialogue and you don't have to wear clothes)
> irl friends either have work/life commitments or else they don't really care, so you end up cajoling people who aren't really into it just to get a game, or inviting someone's friend/an acquaintance who turns out to be weird as fuck.

It's basically ended up in becoming forever GM on R20 because it's the only way I can control the people in the game and make sure they are able to use the English language. I just want to relax and be a player in a good game. Is there a way to find this that I've managed to miss?

>How do you combat the extreme fatigue of shit game after shit game after shit game?
The burnt out GM's version of Candles and Pretense: Chemical Abuse and Delusion.
Ideally you just get intoxicated to the point where you can hold onto the delusion that *this time* it will be different, it will be better, and everything will be fine.
Too much more and you risk becoming the reason it all falls to shit.
But seriously, just keep rekindling that flicker of hope.
Stranger things have happened.

>Is there a way to find this that I've managed to miss?
Almost certainly.
Probably something to do with being a better person than you are, being more open or thock-skinned, or something.
I don't know.
In my experience, if you ever felt it was a god idea to cajole somebody into engaging an activity with you, you have some room for improvement.
Good luck with that.

How would you adapt the Drakengard/Nier series to Tabletop? Iv been wanting to run a Game in/inspired by the setting but im to shit/dumb at dm'ing to properly adapt the world for my players to enjoy

>writing tips
Focus. Think about what, exactly, makes the thing appealing to you. A lot of "hey I like X!" people don't bother to go deeper than that, and the results are kind of clunky or undeveloped as a result.
>>
>>55037015
So, with the series I can't pin point exactly /why/ I like this series so much, but if I HAD to point at something, it would be not knowing what I'm getting with each installment.

Playing Drakengard 1 when I was like, 9? For the first time was a shock. I thought I was getting a cool Fantaay gale ala morrowind or ff7, but NOPE! Only a downward spiral of perpetual dread and suffering.

What are some good adventure hooks, random encounters, NPCs, etc for a sci-fi western similar to pic related?

Running a game where ARK ships left earth sometime in distant past because generic global disaster #9001 and landed (mostly crashed) on a desert planet. It'll basically play out like a sci-fi retelling of the actual wild west with the planet's own natives (feathered insectoids.) But I don't know much about the wild west either since I'm no hamburger.

It was a dream in which an Eversor Assasin took on an Imperial Knight. Eversor came up underneath the Knight and ripped its way through the hull to get at the pilot. Would this even be realistically possible within the fluff?

>>
>>55036625
Fluffwise? Yes, totally. I mean they carry meltabombs for breaching bunkers their target might be hiding in. They're easily agile enough to leap up onto a Knight's upper carapace, blow it open, and rip the pilot out.

About to run a game for 6 of my friends tomorrow. I have everything set up on Tabletop Sim, and a few encounters and story stuff written out. However I just realized I have literally nothing written down in terms of loot. I've been thinking, how do create an appropriate amount of treasure for each situation? I was reading the Death House adventure from the Curse of Strahd book, and it rewards level 3 players 10,000 gold at the end, which seems astronomical to me at that level. Besides money, how can I make sure that the equipment my players find are things they actually want to use, rather than just toss?

direct upgrades
>>
>>55036406
Ask them about their characters; what they see them being like, how they will fight, etc. Also have a session zero and mention they might find some good deals on items for RP or planning out a bit of shopping (and give them some small discounts), but mostly pay attention to what they try to buy or are on the look out for.
>>
This comes down to what kind of players you have. Some players will be happy with just direct upgrades. They like seeing their number go up, since it means they can keep doing what they're doing and skill kill bigger, badder things.

Other players want stuff that gives them options. Either items that give them tools for RP sections (Skeleton Key, Bottomless Decanter, items that let them spy on other people, traversal options, that sort of thing) or weapons that are about the same power level as what they have but have some property that gives them combat options (like elemental damage or some kind of debuff effect).

Then you have psychopaths like my players, who give the best reaction when given items with great power at risk or cost. Like a pendant that gives a big attack bonus at the risk of driving the wearer into a rage that threatens allies, or power scrolls that require blood (HP) to trigger.

If your group is RP heavy ask them about their characters and their motivations. Giving them something connected to that or even hints at it can make an otherwise random item feel special and can be used as a plot point in later sessions/adventure.

Yeah, it's pretty fun. Like ghetto D&D. I played some of the solo modules before, which is sort of like the gamebooks, but most of the modules are painfully reminiscent of the early 80s, what with instant death behind door A and mountains of riches behind door B randomness. Fun if you get into the spirit of it, but not what you'd call well designed.
I dig that it allows you to play all sorts of crazy races, but on the other hand, there's not much mechanical weight behind whatever you pick.
All in all, entertaining, but not great.

>Codex: Heretic Astartes page 47

Of the fate of the Primarch Fulgrim, none are sure. The enemies of Slaanesh claim he was killed during the battles against his fellow Legions, but robot-crewed Mechanicus trawlers recovered neither his body nor the remains of his Battle Barge. Among the remains of the Emperor's Children, it is rumoured that he was rewarded for his devotion to pleasure and elevated by Slaanesh to become a Daemon Primarch, lord of a Daemon world.

>Also Codex: Heretic Astartes page 14

Fulgrim, the Daemon Primarch of the Emperor's Children, leads his hedonistic armies in a spiteful strike against the Ultramarines upon Thessala. Amongst the swirling pink mists of Slaanesh's favour, Fulgrim hunts down his brother Primarch Roboute Guilliman and fights him in single combat. Though Guilliman is mighty indeed, his opponent is a serpentine giant swollen with daemonic power, each of his four arms wielding a poisoned blade.

>The Gathering Storm Part III, Rise of the Primarch page 43

As Guilliman stared in disgust at this cursed fetish, he heard a susurration hissing within his mind that he had not heard since that fateful encounter on Thessala. In mocking tones, Fulgrim welcomed Guilliman back to his beloved Imperium. The Daemon Primarch revealed that he had concealed a fragment of his own animus in the amulet that his servant wore, and confessed disappointment that Guilliman had rejected his gift, the Crown of Glories. Many heroes great and pure had fallen to the trinket’s blandishments, and Fulgrim had hoped that he could corrupt Guilliman in the same fashion. Yet the Slaaneshi Prince assured his brother that this was but the first of endless temptations that Guilliman would have to face. Laughing cruelly, he taunted that the Lord of Ultramar would never be able to trust any feeling of triumph or self-satisfaction again.

Of the fate of the Primarch Fulgrim, none are sure.
