Are there any good places for text-based Warhammer 40k RP online? Preferably with some free-form elements involved.

I'm itching to write some 40k stuff.

I'm doing a jekyll and hyde type character in pathfinder, rolling my class as an alchemist. What's the best creature to transform into a hulk like guy with the spell list I have available? Probably a monstrous humanoid through Monstrous physique.

Just be a skinwalker if the GM allows it and use the vivisectionist archetype. Grab a barbarian level or two along the way and just find a way for your character to get pounce. You lose bombs with vivisectionist though, so be content with being a punchy-guy. The skinwalker gives you a natural weapon based on whichever you pick and you just rood out with extracts before the fight starts, then just charge people with mutagen and rip them in half.

Check out the Master Chymist PrC, it's jekyll and hyde the class. Also you'll probably have better luck getting answers out of /pfg/ (>>55030838).

What game systems exist that let me simulate fast-paced, tactical-but-not-tactical-enough-to-be-dull early fighter plane dogfights?

The setting I've been developing is more than borderline science fiction, but I want to get a sense of what's available before I decide whether or not to homebrew something.

So I'm working on a space setting, and want the aliens that are actual aliens and not descended from an ancient galactic human empire to be really, really alien. I'm looking for things lacking bilateral symmetry or with weird forms of locomotion or just generally not at all remotely humanoid.

Do you guys have any favorite creatures you like to use that actually seem like they might not be from earth? Or just favorite aliens from existing fiction that might work?

The only one I've got that I'm fairly happy with so far floating gas-bag creatures with a "Head"-like lump sticking from the bottom, and a single long multi-segmented arm sticking out from that, which evolved as ambush predators in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant.

Pic vaguely related, in that it's one of the weirder looking things I got when I googled "Non-humanoid aliens".

One of the things I like best is non-verbal communication.

Might be posture, or even bioluminescence ala squids.

Different/bizzare reproduction methods are fun too.

Like what if they lay eggs in dead animals? Or budding, or their reproduction method doesn't result in any paternal attachment to their offspring. Then take those eccentricities and build a culture around them.

Don't hesitate to put clashing traits in there either. Maybe the aggressive militant aliens are small and cute by other alien standards.
>>
>>55046242
I was actually going to have the gas-bags communicate via squid-like color and texture changes on their skin. They can actually detect sounds and distinguish them as well or better than humans, but they can't make specific noises without technological assistance.

These are all good jumping off points for weird aliens, though.
>>
>>55046347
Octopus-like, rather. Or maybe squids do it too, I'm not sure.

Should Nāga and other forms of magical serpent be considered distinct from dragons, or just a particularly south Asian themed dragon?

Also, is it pedantic to distinguish between the kind with a humanoid head torso and arms, and the kind that's just a snake possibly with more than one head?

While we're at it, Are Raksasha, Yokai, and Djin, all just names for the same kind of shape shifting extra dimensional entity that may or may not be hostile? What about Angels/Demons or Asura/Deva? Are they the same things in different languages, or distinct from each other in your setting?

>Should Nāga and other forms of magical serpent be considered distinct from dragons
show me one RPG where Nagas have the dragon type
>>
>>55045892
In mythology them seem to be used interchangeably with dragons. I'm asking if RPGs should do the same. RPGs either seem to either just use them as giant snakes (which could be considered a sub-type of dragon), or snakes with human torsos and tits.

All of these are more or less consistent with south Asian mythology. Some Naga are big and friendly enough for the gods to use as couches (pic related), others are monsters for heroes to slay, and still others are misunderstood snake waifus. The only really consistent thing is that they are older than humans, posses ancient knowledge or are otherwise tasked with maintaining the universe, and can transform into humans (but maintain a snake theme). All of these are similar to how dragons work in most RPGs.
>>
>>55046028

You could go the Oriental/Dark Souls approach and have serpentines as a sort of proto-dragon. They're always seeking to advance to their final stage of life, which is a full dragon.

So the Ghosts of Dorn are pretty cool guys. They've got SoB allies and Eldar enemies, and a unique aesthetic. What else can we add to these guys? What conversions could be done? How should they be painted?
What expansions to the lore should we do as well?

What aesthetic queues could I use to make a unique looking Malal CSM army?

Using regular marine kits here and there and defacing aquilae and adding lots of bullet-holes and gouges from claws or weapons on the armour for a newly fallen renegade chapter, but what are some themes I can run with? Kits/bits to use?

Malal's stuff is usually subverted amusing tropes of D&D monsters.

His hook horrors exist to make people like Cato Sicarius Suffer via constant cockblocking, he has firebreathing Dragon rats which are a play on the trope of PC's starting out with rats and ending with Dragons, and his Greater Daemons are like bigger versions of Bloodletters skilled in Assassinating other Daemon Princes or Greater Daemons, or capturing them for anti-self tortures. Next to the Parasitic Warp-Gear that absorbs warp energy like a sponge returning the old natural order to the Warp before Malal's displacement, they're a pretty hard to beat crew.

Sons of Malice are silent as to not satisfy the portfolios of the other Chaos Gods, but they presumably work in code or actual military tactics and partake in ritual cannibalism on slaves they capture in raids in an amusing ritual of parisitism and power gain.

You'd be interested in the like of D&D Devourer models, Infernal Models, or Malal-thrall versions of existing Daemons who have had qualities removed from them, like a depressed looking Daemonette devoid of sensation or sexual form, simplistic non-dynamic lords of change that aren't fucking rainbow birds, and Khorne daemons that look like all their gains were energy drained away from them next to skipping leg day.

How deep is the grudge between Ministorum and Mechanicus really? Could you reasonable have them fight alongside each other without autistic backstabbing? Could individual members of both organsations become friends, for example if they are working together as acolytes of an Inquisitor? Could there even be love?

In a Dark Heresy game we both felt the other had joined the wrong priesthood and subtly tried converting the other but mostly we were bros engaging in JOLLY COOPERATION

Yes, it happens all the time with Guard auxiliaries.

Yes.
>Could there even be love?
NO THAT'S HERESY

The grudge between the Ministrorum and the Mechanicus isn't all that bad at all. The Mechanicus still provides Sisters with power armor and vehicles, for example, and does not sabotage it or anything. Likewise with pilgrim vessels (spacecraft) and big stonkin' power chainswords. They have doctrinal disagreements, and some Missionaries secretly try to convert Machine Cultists, but for the most part they get along just as well as any other subjects of the Emperor.

If this card was in Magic the Gathering it would be the most broken thing in existence assuming its cost was proportional to that of MTG (mana is much easier to get in elementals, so its cost is pretty cheap.)
