Yo /tg/ help me out with making an alien race.
So far all I've thought up is an Avian race that instead of flying, they can jump really far, they then use jetpacks to stay in the air and shoot at those below. Their society is super capitalist, with the state only being around so businesses don't have to hire mercs to kill the competition. The average life of one is full of drugs, sex and the occasional murder until they OD at 60 if they're poor, while the rich simply augment their body so that they can have even higher highs with low amounts of drugs so that they don't crash.
They have battlesuits that encompass their whole body and provide decent protection from laser shots and bullets while also allowing them to jetpack around.
Pic related, I based the armour of this.
Your thoughts? Any criticisms? Anyone want to help?
What about the human? And their relationship with big bird?
>>55096902
Humanity would probably just see them as a bunch of fucking degenerates, maybe a couple would go into their territory for really good narcotics or if they want to escape the space police.
>>55096834
Have a humanoid-esque race that turns out to be a cannibalistic evil fucking hivemind.
What are some good weapons for combat decapitations of lightly armored enemies?
>>55096772
The katana
>>55096790
^ unironically this
>>55096772
The grossemesser. Decently large sword, used in two hands, thick blade, single sided. It's heavy enough to break a neck but light and short enough to be wielded with speed.
What dice do you use? Cheap dice, expensive precision dice, metal dice? Do you keep any uncommon dice around? Do you use a bag?
This. Buy a new one every couple years to replenish losses.
I buy chessex cubes of d6's for warhammer.
I have somewhere between 15-20 noname sets, a few chessex polyhedral sets, a box of chessex d6s.
>>55096339
I have mostly Chessex Dice for my Polyhedrals, as far as D6's I have no clue what brand they are, but I have a fairly diverse assortment with the exception of a few older dice I've had since I was a kid that have always served me well.
Then I have a REALLY old D6 that has Yellowed to a deep Goldenrod color.
Hey /tg/ the other drawfag left so I'm gonna post some
Taking requests. Provide pictures for character requests please
>>55096310
Could I get a kobold pirate gal in a position like pic related please? No guns, but maybe a sling or hatchet in her hand.
1/2 I occasionally throw up on the drawthread
>>55097674
Threads almost dead but I thought I'd draw the two here, and any else if folk want.
Is there any reasonable in-game explanation for why a Gelatinous Cube is a cube?
>>55096280
Some stoned wizard made them that way because he found the thought of it hilarious
>>55096280
Literally says the reason in the monster manual.
>>55096280
>>55096438
The Wizard also happened to be a "Wizard of the Coast"
But in all seriousness, I think that the Gelatinous Cube is the most "Meta" monster in the Monster Manual. The way its shaded and designed just suits dungeons perfectly
Why does /tg/ seem to think that, even with its reliance on very specific slats, and no custom "build what you want" supernaturals, CofD is in some way well suited for other settings?
CofD isn't even suited to run oWoD without homebrew, let alone buffy, or vampire chronicles, or True blood, or Anita Blake, or American vampire, or whatever other urban fantasy setting, published or homebrew, that you might be interested in running.
I mean, if you just want to run a mundane modern day humans campaign, it can do that just fine, but if you want a different variety of urban fantasy, it's just a terrible fit.
I'm new to the hobby, anyone got some tips to help and also opinion of my first time painting properly
>>55095571
>thin your paints
>use shades
>keep trying to improve
TL;DR, watch Duncan paint on warhammer tv on youtube.
>>55095571
Use a daylight lamp, flashes make paints uglier.
>>55095571
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/WIP
Looks good.
Needs drybrushing, and some rust effects. Maybe some of that goopy Nurgle Rot paint on the entrails. Also, you need to base the model, nothing looks finished without basing.
How do you feel about black elves?
Not Dark Elves, but Elves who are Black
>>55095560
Define "black"
No different from elves who are white.
>>55095560
Still fictional so, meh?
Hey tg so I've been wanting to use some ambient noises and music in my campaign. One of my players found this little jewel.
https://tabletopaudio.com
And by little I mean little but it has some great stuff and it's free.
Aside from the obvious YouTube, where do tg's GMs music and noises to use in your campaign? Do you use a sound board or just press play and how much organizing do you put into it?
>>55095480
Shameless self bump and because I forgot the "get" in between GMs and music. Please forgive me tg
>>55095480
I use Roll20. There's a lot of organizing. I've tried soundboards but don't have much luck. There is often a syncing issue among the players, especially because I have a player overseas. Music is essential to every game I run, for sure.
>Cult is uprising aggainst a hive city and are growing quickly in the early stages.
>Suddenly every faction in the galaxy just up and poofs out of existence. Warp is no longer chaos filled, the eldar are dead, necron are re-dead, tyranids are dead, Orks are dead, tau are dead, humanity is dead (except for that one hive world.)
>This one planet, infected with genestealers is all that remains.
What'll they do?
Start breeding like crazy and shipping out to the now empty planets. A job is a job.
Nothing? Relaunch a bio fleet, try again next galaxy over.
>>55095474
Probably kill themselves.
Easily the most awkward session of any campaign is the first one, where the party meets as total strangers and immediately decide to throw in together for no good reason, but not before a fair amount of sperging is had by all.
Why don't more campaigns start with the players already in the shit? It isn't that hard to say "you're all bodyguards for this noble/working on this ship/part of this wagon train. What circumstances brought you from your respective homes to this sorry state of affairs?"
Does the nerd's shirt say "Lycanthrope: The Rape"?
>>55095246
Aye
I feel that sort of start requires a certain amount of confidence/familiarity between the players to work.
That being said, fortune favors the bold.
Why are Rangers in D&D 5e treated like shit not just because they're edge lords right next to rouges but like there are no good feats to take if you play the archer type ranger. There is no love for the Ranger class.
>>55095062
>there are no good feats to take if you play the archer type ranger
Sharpshooter? Crossbow Expert?
>>55095272
Exactly, if you're using more than two ASIs for feats your campaign is going on for fucking ages or your gm needs to watch you when you roll for stats.
>>55095062
I agree that Rangers get maybe two whole options, but really? Edgelords? Where do you get that? Rangers are potsmokers that love their pet dog.
So, I'm about to buy the Dark Imperium box set because the new Death Guard models look sexy, and it seemed like a pretty good deal with the models and the hardback rulebook. Because of this, I was wondering what to do with all the snowflake marines I will get in the box set. I'm an AdMech player, and going to start a Death Guard one too, so I started looking at Space Marine chapters to see if there were any that seemed interesting enough.
After looking for 5 minutes on 1d4chan, I found the Black Templars. Holy fuck the fluff is amazing. Absolutely insane emprah worshipping xenos killing glories, and I want to know if there are any homebrews for them in 8th so far, as well as some tips for painting them.
I'm GMing for the first time in a post-second industrial revolution setting. I will have to roleplay nobility and aristocracy unironically for my players. I have no idea what the gentry are like outside of movies and comic books where they are played as foppish snobs.
Help me get into the mindset of the upper class.
The nations in this fantasy world consist of the empire, the recently conquered people of a decades long war, the rich and powerful desert kingdom to the far south, and the almost mythical land from across the sea where people are rumored to be part demon
>>55094832
They're fundamentally not that different from anyone else. Biggest differences is that they'll be well educated and have more complex social norms.
>>55094832
>I'm GMing for the first time
and you picked something that you have no idea how to do?
Boy are you fucked, anon. Swallow your pride and back out of this promised campaign, and do something simple for your first time GMing. We walk before we run.
