I don't think it is. Unless it's an outdated version of him from a previous generation.

Hey guys, I need the thrall warhost regiment for Darkelves
I'd like to discuss combat and theater of the mind compared to grids. Lately I've seen a lot of people utilize grids and minis almost exclusively in comparison to theater of the mind styles of combat description.
What do you prefer and why?
As someone who wants to run a theater of the mind style rpg (5e set in a conan-meets-cthulu setting) what suggestions do you guys have?
>>55110974
be prepared to at least sketch out a layout if the players start to ask really specific distances and positions, so everyone is on the same page
>>55111013
I suppose I could use reference maps. But part of theater of the mind is not playing FF tactics. Namely, I'll frankly tell players if they could close the distance, hit the target from that range, etc.
Also giving them knowledge of enemy spacing.
"You know you can get within striking distance to the group of two goblins on your turn, however, their three compatriots may choose to surround you." etc.
Any system that promotes abilities having very specific distances and where positioning is important is going to draw people toward mini play, and since most people play some variant of D&D that's why you've seen more of that play.
I'm looking to run a maritime campaign where the party is a crew of pirates. Has anyone run a sea-based campaign? What system did you go with?
>>55110934
ffs dude, why do you keep making this thread over and over again? is this some sort of meme?
one last bump.
>>55110934
I was planning on running a maritime campaign, but not in the traditional sense. In the world I had built the back half of the planet/world was an open ocean of lava, and the only to sail it was in giant fortresses made of ice and permafrost, kept cooled by magic (Be it wizards, clerics, items, or a dragon if you could get its help.) The party never made it that far before the group disbanded sadly.
>Have a very high constitution

But you'd have such a high save that the pain wouldn't bother you.
Sounds like their torturers aren't very skilled if your high constitution is the only thing keeping you alive. A skilled torturers could keep almost anyone alive through the torture.
Having a victim think that they will die during the torture only makes it easier for that victim to resist.

Recommend good space opera literature. /lit/ is useless and you know it. I've read Foundation and the Robots series and I've searched desperately for two years for anything as intelligent and clever and imaginative as them. Also, how did the Mule hail from Gaia? There's no way the people there would have treated him rudely like he claimed, and there's no way he could have escaped.
We know it.

Yes, but not exclusively.

it can but doesnt need to
If your stats don't inform your personality AND appearance, you might as well be playing Monopoly.

That's why it's so bad. The author is pretty shit about taking advice as well.
So, with my train wreck of a Dark Heresy campaign partway into the second mission, I decided that I should lay down the foundations to future adventures. I've been giving the female Techpriest in the party recurring nightmares about a daemonette claiming some form of kinship with her unless a blank is nearby. Of course, I'm not 100% sure on how daemons are made, so it might be warping the lore more than a little bit.
A bit of backstory is that the Techpriest in the party is the bastard child of a promiscuous Commissar and another Techpriest. I'm currently planning on having the daemonette be her half-sister, when a Daemoness of Slaanesh mated with the Commissar as he slept. This would tie in with the Guardsman Sergeant's backstory, whose platoon was sold out by a noble to be sacrificed to a Slaaneshi cult, so there'd be multiple people in the party with "personal" stake in this plot thread.
So, while they're currently stomping out the Tzeentch cult that's using trickery to get the acolytes to do the 9999 sacrifices for them, what should I do about this plot thread? Should I change the details a little bit, try to change the details a little bit to make it more lore compliant, or kill myself because I'm magical realming faggot that has a daemoness fetish?I'm actually not. I refrain from describing any intimate scenes in detail. Thankfully, there hasn't been any except for the incident with the genestealer after the other incident with the Sister Hospitaller burning the Guard Sergeant... I'm willing to explain what happened, but I won't like it.
Some pointers in general in how to run my Dark Heresy game would also be appreciated. When I ask the players on how I can improve, they just say "it's good" and nothing else.
>>55109607
Daemons can fuck mortals, but the offspring is mortal.
>>55110583
I see... I'll look into it. I'm planning to have one of the Commissar's aides deliver the news that the Commissar had died sometime in-between missions.

I'd had that the stronger the hit, the more accurate the detection.
Hey /tg/, we had an alright thread last night so why not keep it up. Help me out with this alien species.
I'll post some screencaps of ideas anons had.
>In a nihilistic discussion we had, I made an allegory to life is like Yugioh only with a deck you hardly can control.
>Decided to make an rpg based off of this where every player is born with a deck and solves all of life's problems like getting dates, landing a job they want, or not being murdered by a serial killer by dueling them
>However, their born deck is pretty much the only cards they'll ever see. From time to time they may be able to in minor ways alter the decks cards list or add in new cards, but nothing dramatic.
>Somehow I guarantee it will still be more balanced than real Yugioh.
This is sort of a side rant to how fucking broken the actual game is where God damn algerbra is less tedious. What urks me isn't even broken mechanics but where Konami sweeps it under the rug by an expansive ban list that works about as well as banning trolls when mods are the ones that ruin everything. Like say for example Pot of Greed, nobody even tries to argue bringing back Pot of Greed, but Maxx C took for fucking ever to get restricted and for the past God damn decade Maxx C has been pretty much better than pot of greed. But goodluck getting those heroin addicts at /r/yugioh to admit that.
It would just make more fucking sense if there was a DM there to not only control on some level what cards every player has in their deck, but there to interpret the card's meaning. Because when you have twenty paragraphs of card text, you're gonna need someone there to tell you up from down.
Really the only thing yugioh has going for it is the artwork.
>>55107957
would the players duel with real yugioh cards, how does dueling work in your rpg
Man classic archfiends and chessfiends were my shit nigga
>>55107957
You're a retard if you think Maxx "C" is better than Pot of Greed.
