Could it be possible for a titan/imperial knight to pilot itself? Not full on combat but in the case of a knight can it atleast walk and move on it's own accord without a princeps?

Imperium views AI as bad.

However Imperium also wants AI.

Imperium gets around this by using organic components in its larger machines, creating the Machine Spirits (Imperium smart).

Machine Spirits are low level conciousness in a machine form that can perform certain autonomous tasks to help the running of machines.

The bigger the machine the stronger the Machine Spirit.

Titans big.

Strong Machine Spirit.

Still needs a human to pilot it because Machine Spirit strong, but also dumb.

Human and Machine Spirit bond, creating a union that is part machine part organic.

Titan fight.

Fin.
Got this from Reddit, sounds descriptive enough for a 5 year old.

No, I don't expect the cog heads to do anything, I'm asking if it's possible for a titan/knight to move on it's own. Albet slowly and some what stupidly.

Faced with a total party kill, a magic caster decides to increase their body's production of mana beyond safe limits. (Absorbing mana from the environment could also work, as long as the body acts as a conduit.)

They win the fight, then promptly vomit blood and collapse.

What should the lasting effects of doing something like that be? Permanently lowered hitpoints or constitution seem a little dry.

Cool lightning scars?
>>
I'd avoid permanent penalties. Maybe lowered HP or ability score damage that recovers slowly, over time.

Focus on the fluff side too. Using the magic they're so familiar with, so used to relying on being associated with new memories of pain and a near death experience, unpleasant and disconcerting for them.

I'd also talk to the player about creating some custom system content based on the idea that they learned from their near death experience. Letting them burn HP to empower a spell or some such.
>>
>>51604312
Well, the equivalent of your pic would be a roll for death because that's what's supposed to happen unless you're a plot-armored wanker. So yeah, Death is a pretty solid lasting effect appropriate for the scenario.

The other time magic circuits were overloaded the bloke couldn't do magic anymore and he was very, very sad. And then his wife left him and tried to fuck this stacked dude with TWO lances.

There are no spacecraft. Space travel is done through arcane rituals involving a good knowledge of astronomy and an abundance of magical power.

> female prisoners of war are generally kept in cages hanging from the ceiling where soldiers passing by can push a button to shock them and cause them intense pain, usually the soldiers space it out so that just as she is beginning to relax her muscles are forced to contact again. It is best to do while they are eating because sometimes it will cause them to choke or even vomit, and with nothing to wash out their mouths the stomach acid will burn their throats and after a while even regular breathing will become painful. Many will die of sleep deprivation as the shocks continue to wake them up. A few will go absolutely insane and bash themselves against the wall of the cage in an attempt to commit suicide. Usually after a while they completely break mentally, and dissolve into drooling whimpering or even complete bodily dissociation, their mind literally shutting down and severing contact with the nervous system because it can no longer handle the stress. These survivors can be reprogrammed and set free to spread venereal diseases or to slaughter their families before killing themselves, their minds blank slates from the horrific torture they endured.

Feng Shui lets you do crazy shit.

On the crunchier end of things, Fantasy Craft can be pretty wild. Pic related, this involves a loose interpretation of one rule, but is generally in line with the kind of stuff FC characters can do anyway.

Can cast fly, hold person, and telekinesis at will

Probably has a mind flayer extraction type ability.

I'd give them an Intellect and Wisdom of at least 18 based on them apparently being the Combine leaders.

Strength 20 probably. Dex 14 or 15 as they were fairly agile. Their Charisma is probably in the toilet though, unless it is what powers their abilities. I'd make them Large outsiders / aberrations.

That's assuming 3.5 for some dumb-ass reason. Although for some reason I feel like if Half Life had a system, it'd be d20 modern

Some days ago, I found a thread, here in /tg/, which greatly called upon my attention: female representation at LGSs were scarse, yet WotC was resilient on telling a third of the player base were female.

My gf and their female friends are nerds who also enjoy the hobby so, intrigued, I asked them this last weekend about what and how they enjoy this game. I was surprised about their answer, but it was pretty ironical, actually.

To put it short, they play cube. They and their friends play it a lot. They love gathering by themselves as one of them offers her cube to draft that night. They even compete, gloat and gossip about who has the best cube to draft... according their vision of the game.

In fact, some of them didn't even have Fatal Push or Yahenni's Expertise in their cubes because they don't want black to be a strong colour. Sure, you can ise it for some spicy tribal deck but you won't see a lot of black staples there.

I wish I was baiting but I don't. However, don't misunderstand them. They weren't full of themselves or some arrogant stuff like that. They were just defining what is fun for them to play with.

To sum up, eventhought I sound a little sexist, you will find more girls at the kitchen table than at the LGS table. Where we go out bravely to the unknown and make ourselves fit into a determined format, they like to have control of the rules, the gathering place, who comes there and which cards they play woth.

Since I am just a mortal man with the limited experience that my small enviroment has given to me, I would like to hear some other stories and opinions, so I could make a better conclusion to this subject.

So have you ever ended up the 'MC' of a game?

Think being the leader or winning the girl or getting the cool one liner last hit on the final boss or some other similar situations?

How did you and your group handle it?
Were you loved or did you have to deal with some bullshit drama?

Just curious because my group is going through some shit because of this and I'm curious how other people handled it.

In one of the campaigns I was in a few months ago, I returned to the group with a throwaway old-man character that was supposed to die, or only be there for the one session I had him involved in. Some time later, and he was the longest surviving member of the adventurer's guild, and also the strongest, and most competent. During his time there, he was granted ownership of a town, and about 6 titles. Campaign ended just before he ended up turning it into the plot for Shrek.
>>
>>51602982
Forgot to add, near the end of the campaign, he pretty much became a questgiver, literally giving the other players gold, and supplies for aiding him on things he wanted to do.
>>
since I am the DM no

but I make sure that every player has a chance to be in a spotlight, and they take turns being the MC, with each campaign an arc focused on a different PC

I'm tired of generic mountain keeps, and so I'm looking to you kind folks to help me out.

I was thinking of a more industrial type feel to the city, but unsure how/where to start. I want it to be grimy, but only because of the incredible focus on workmanship, as opposed to the more posh aspects of general life.

Do they harvest raw materials or do they produce finished goods?

And Im totally down to play "bounce ideas off each other" but just to lay the cards out on the table what do you want this for? Want/need a dwarven city for dnd? Or are you just doing it for the creative process. Because that effects the answers you get.

Can just owning some magical maguffin be enough to consider someone a caster?

Even if they do not know any magic or can cast anything without their special magical thingy.

>>
>>51601639
Could any village idiot use the item, or does it require skill/talent/special personal properties to use to its real potential?
>>
In a conan-esque setting, sure. Most magic users in those only really count because they have a staff or orb or crown or giant statue that is powered by a god or demon or what have you and all magic is run through that or just stage tricks designed to intimidate the masses.
>>
>>51601639
DEPENDS ON THE SETTING.

But it taps into a setting-independent question of which sorts of magic-users get snotty at which other sorts. Anything inspired by DnD tends to have Wizards getting snotty at Sorcerers who in turn get snotty at Warlocks. Not that this ever makes sense in any standard fantasy setting.

Quoth the Sorcerer: Hmm, so you say that the magic you acquired purely by hard work, despite having no birthright to magic, is superior to my magical lineage. An interesting assertion, let's see if the motherfucking king agrees oh wait he's already had you beheaded at level 1 for defiance of the natural social order.

In any case, if a character can cast then they are a caster, regardless of where the power comes from. The only variable is their social status as a result of that power. Many characters will not care. Whether the characters that matter to the story care or not is, of course, DEPENDENT ON THE SETTING.

What is the point of having Elite Special Forces in scifi settings when in said settings actually have even better near godlike beings. Ill use some examples like Storm Troopers in 40k,ODST in Halo, or Even ARC Troopers in Star Wars. All 3 things I mentioned are actually really fucking cool in their own setting. Yet they are out of the spotlight due to Spartans,Space Marines, and Jedi. I mean they are still cool in their own right but how can you justify their existence when they are not even considered the settings best?

Lots of fun things, with a variety of mood/goals.

Dungeons could be largely empty, with traps and riddles, only the occasional monster that the PC's must riddle past, charm with music, daze with spells, or sneak around.

PCs can travel from town to town solving problems for townsfolk, go Battle of the Bard's against another popular bardic group on a towns square. Rocking out, throwing quips, throwing small fireworks as at least one member of other team tries to sabotage the other's performance.
