So in running a Norse campaign, after reading through the tome of corruption do you think that there would be any increase/decrease in trade with Norsca after the storm of chaos? Maybe after the hordes have dissipated the Marienburgers are trying to use the time of peace to get a buffer state in addition to Kislev?
What kind of effects would increased trade have on the Norse?

This thread is definitely going in the book.
Anyone seen Chaos Dwarves made from the Longbeards/Hammerers kit?
What's a nice innocuous hobby or other humanizing feature for a BBEG? Some interest that isn't in itself evil and, while not quircky or ultra wacky, humanizes the villain a little. Not something that makes him less of a villain mind you, the guy's still marching his undead legions, summoning demons, and trying to destroy the chosen bloodline. But he just happens to be someone who likes tea/scrimshaw/horseback riding/golf.
Not chess, I feel like tons of villains play chess.

We always talk about intro games, or the heavy stuff, what's your best "next step" games /bgg/? When your friends finally agree to start playing and enjoy the light stuff, how fast do you ramp up the weight/time investment? I don't have a third question but something something about mechanics, combining genres, etc.
I think Pandemic is a pretty good "step-up" game, as long as you don't have some asshole alpha gamer. Alot of people reccomend it as gateway but I'd say otherwise because there's alot of things like hand management and players having individual powers that are unique.
Also Resistance Avalon playing with roles is quite a nice stepping stone too
Race for the galaxy vs Roll for the galaxy
which do you prefer? pros/cons of each, what advantages do each have over the other?
>>51873938
Have not played Race, but have read the rulebook and watched some playthroughs
I prefer Roll. Moves faster, things happen much smoother simultaneously, easy to teach and remember (Don't have to teach it again every time you play). Dice are fun, and it's very easy to asses who is where in terms of victory during gameplay.
What exactly is the reason for the shit beast races get on /tg/?
I mean, they are a core element of most fantasy.
>Inb4 because people fap to it
A few people take it too far, and it's more fun to make a post about disliking something than liking it.
Because they're almost always fucking trash

People hate furries because of the fanbase. Hence anything with fur is immediately regarded as a fetish.
So we know what happens when Lawful Good goes too far and you have to fight it.
But what does a strictly Chaotic Good main antagonist to a good aligned party look like?
>>51924918
>strictly Chaotic Good main antagonist
Idealist revolutionary. Like Robespierre or Lenin.
Either actually correct and should be sided with, or a short-sighted idealist who places too much faith in the goodness of man.

Lawful Good Angelo vs. Chaotic Good Claudio vs. Neutral Good Duke and Isabella
What's a good song for villains entering the scene and actually starting to win?
What's a good song for a heroic comeback?

What's a better system for superhero games: the AW Masks, or Marvel Heroic? My players and I don't want a lot of crunch getting in the way.

M&M
M&M if you want good, HERO system if you want great, and Savage Worlds if you're fresh off the 5e boat or you want everyone to stat out a character in the next half-hour and be ready to play.
So how do you feel about a player wanting to change his class mid campaign as part of his own personal story?
As long as if it flows naturally, I'm game for it.
>>51923440
Like multi-classing? If the system allows for it and we're playing that kind of game, go for it.
But a completely change of class... I wouldn't immediately say no to it, but I'd need a pretty compelling reason to allow it and it'd have to make sense in the setting. For instance, in terms of DnD, a fighter could arguably make a logical progression into a paladin, or a rogue, since those are just abstractions of the same basic idea. How, exactly, does a wizard forget enough about magic to become a fighter without any wizard levels?
If a PC is way behind or way ahead of the rest of the party mechanically and nobody realized that at character creation (usually because the players are new to that system, maybe because they weren't minmaxing to the level this player expected) I'd consider letting the player change classes to something similar, then retconning things so that he was always that class.
Then, after the campaign, I'd never touch that system again. There are plenty of systems to choose from, so I'm not going to waste my time with a system that badly balanced.
I doubt I'd allow it for story reasons, unless the game includes some method for changing classes and/or multi-classing. Though that really depends on what options changing classes gives me for where I can take the story.
What is a good setting to play a firefly/bebop type game? Just a crew of mercs flying around in their ship taking jobs in the frontiers of space?
Traveller.
Memories of his college Traveller campaign led Whedon to create Firefly.
>>51922487
Edge of the Empire. If you hate Star Wars then just make everyone play a human and remove the Force stuff, the game will still run fine.
>>51922972
I'd back this up. A lot of the book involves space travel rules, outlaw bullshit, and how to get out of sticky situations you shouldn't have gotten into but it's an action movie so it's okay.
How would I got about making my DnD 5e campaign have a sword and sorcery feel?
>>51920757
Sword and sorcery as in low power as fuck? congrats, that's already 5e.
>>51920757
Disallow full casters.
>>51920790
this, and do more personal adventures. make the campaign play out as a series of pulp fiction short stories.
>weapon shoots a tiny piece of metal at you that pokes a tiny little hole in your body
6d6 damage
>weapon shoots a three foot long wooden pole at you that tears through your entire body and then stays lodged in you while you are trying to fight
1d6 damage
Why the fuck are game designers so fucking retarded?

Isn't there a new edition?
Take a setting like Cyberpunk 2020, Ghosts in the Shell, Deus Ex, netrunner, etc.
>how does warfare work on such settings?
>what military trends that actually exist now would be more favored then?
>which ones would fall down the wayside?
>would such settings even go to war when a significant part of your population can download themselves in a new body?
>what kinds of weapons would you see?
>>51914384
But OP, the whole focus of cyberpunk is that corporations become so strong that they supplant nation states as the prime denomination of sovereignty.
Governments are weak and ineffectual.
As such, wars don't really happen. It's sabotage and espionage in order to destroy profits.
>>51914384
>would such settings even go to war when a significant part of your population can download themselves in a new body?
yes because taking and holding territory is still an thing and transmitting minds and rebuilding bodies takes energy and material which are limited and can be destroyed by enemy action
>>51914501
but even corporations/estates would want resources that might be rare in their immediate area but abundant in areas belonging to other corporations, what happens when 2 equally strong corporations go head to head with each other.
You have to make a character that obviously isn't a "hero" or someone noteworthy, just a regular soldier or wizards assistant but still gets caught up in the events happening. How do you play them and develop their character?
>>51909407
I feel like if he's gonna be less of a hero type he should focus on out-of-combat stuff. maybe a schoolish know-it-all who's well learned in books and has a bunch of ranks in knowledge.
he doesn't really want to adventure but his master won't let him back till he travels the world and actually learns some practical knowledge.
I feel like experiencing battle for the first time would be a good development. and on top of that this person who's never really fought before adjusting to having to fight constantly as an adventurer would be interesting to watch, see how he adapts.
I played a lumberjack before. Normal lumberjack whom became a soldier (2 levels fighter)in the war but settled down in the country once he wasn't needed any longer. Nothing made any sense any more so he turned to nature and found beauty he had forgotten, so he decided to become a ranger (x levels) and vows to protect that which he believes to be most valuable.

> be apprentice
> master tells I have to go adventuring
> after every adventure, come back to master, ask if I can stay
> answer is always no, my apprentice, you need to do more
> at level 11 (or whenever Wizards supposed to get their towers nowadays) come back, master dead, has a last message: now you can come back, tower is empty
