What do monsters, beastfolk, or non-human humanoids look like during infancy or childhood? My players are going to be going through a few settlements over the course of the campaign and I'd like some reference art when it comes to describing non-combatants.
>>52047400
Like smaller, probably somewhat cuter, versions of adults.

If you're running an "irredeemable dindus" type of fantasy it can be a good moment to bring out racial customs.
The players see some orc kids playing, and after a while it gets rough. One of the kids get the upper hand on the other and start bashing its face in with a rock. A while later a father- or leader figure in the tribe congratulates the survivor kid for being a badass, offing the other brat, and brandishing the victim as a loser that would've hurt the tribe.

Wrong.
Tabletop standard is three colors and a wash, and is a term used for shit-average miniatures.
Stop using it unless you're trying to be a dick. This is your last warning.
So here's the deal:
>Casual edh play group
>Don't have infinite money to spend on edh, but am willing to spend a decent amount, just not like 700 dollars for a single deck.
>Setting is typically quite casual but competitive
>One friend though
>This guy
>Basically only runs black decks (With other colors, theyre just always at least black)
>Always recursion and creature hate
>I typically run creature heavy decks, or at least decks that focus on the commander actually being in play
>Most of my decks don't have a real way to deal with his Karador type decks, where he recursions everything and just kills all my creatures.
What would you guys recommend I play that can actually hold up against his decks? He basically plays Gisa, Ghanti, and Karador, and they are all just creature hate and recursion. He does have an Arjun deck, but he never plays it. I just want to make him want to play a different type of deck every once in awhile so I can play something besides my Dragonlord Ojutai deck. It can get frustrating constantly dealing with the same type of deck, especially when it typically counters your decks. (I run Brago, Atarka WR, Melek, Rubinia mind controll, so typically I really want my commander on the field. I know it isn't realistic to expect it to never get killed, but his decks are basically 40% kill spells.)
TL;DR: How do I deal with a player who only plays black recursion and creature hate, especially when I like to play creatures?
Also, general tips and tricks for MTG EDH thread?
>>52045794
If single target kill spells, pack protection for your commander (hexproof, shroud, regeneration) If board wipes, consider something like Cauldron of Souls, or spells which blink your whole board (hello Brago)
Also, consider running generic grave hate cards to undo his recursion engines. Anything that exiles the yard is good.
>>52045854
I was actually wondering what would be a decent commander to look into building a deck for that would punish his playstyle. Guess I didn't make that clear enough. I've held off on making a counter to his stuff for a long time, because I think thats a shitty way to play, but he just keeps making more decks that are basically the same deck, which happens to counter the majority of my decks, and won't play anything else. I just want to make a commander that will fuck with his decks so he will play something else once in a while.

Here is a (you) so you do not give up on life.
What edition? You might be able to get them to do Pathfinder or d20 modern, which are technically D&D and would open them up to more stuff.
Alternatively, you can use the standing system to run a completely new kind of a game (like adventurers getting transported into SPESS) and wing all the rules. CoC for example can be totally ran in D&D, you just play something like Ravenloft really.
Online groups also exist, /tg/ holds gamefinder threads all the time, you can bring a friend if you are shy.
You are not alone

>>52044315
It's already whimpering.
I'm guessing more of a giant, sucking sound.
>>52044315
They're already killing DnD slowly but surely, so it's no bang.

You might want to start by giving a synopsis of what kind of stuff happens in that setting and what kind of gameplay you'd expect to be in the game. Not everyone is going to be familiar with your source material.

https://www.enotes.com/homework-help/what-does-rectification-names-mean-confucians-283197
>To Confucians, the idea of rectification of names means that people should use the right words to describe things and that things should live up to their names. There should not be cases in which something or someone is called one thing but acts as another.
>To Confucians, a stable and just society is built on everything being in its proper place. Parents should act as parents, children as children, rulers as rulers and so on. This is where rectification of names comes in. If, for example, a person is called a parent but does not act as a proper parent would, society as a whole is harmed. Therefore, rectification of names is important. People must act in ways that are proper for those in their station.
>Rectification of names, then, means two things. It means that things should be called by their proper names and that those who have a certain name or title must act in ways that are appropriate to those names.
If Confucius taught us the importance of the rectification of names, then why do we still have settings where "MY elves are actually X completely different thing, MY fairies are actually Y totally different thing, and MY angels are really Z entirely different thing"?
>>52027146
>Old dead shitiot said some bullshit is important to his society
>"Why doesn't everyone in [completely different culture] do what old dead shitiot said?"
>>52027146
>If Confucius taught us the importance of the rectification of names, then why do we still have settings where "MY elves are actually X completely different thing, MY fairies are actually Y totally different thing, and MY angels are really Z entirely different thing"?
Because in those settings, those are what Elves/Fairies/Angels are meant to be.
It's not like there's a 'real', objective definition of any of them IRL. They're all broad fictional concepts with a huge number of different interpretations.
>>52027146
>Rectification of names, then, means two things. It means that things should be called by their proper names and that those who have a certain name or title must act in ways that are appropriate to those names.
Right, and "My elves" are elven because they have the core features of elves: nonhumans with pointy ears.
"My fairies" are fairies because they have the core features of fairies: tiny magic beings.
"My angels" are angels because they have the core features of angels: they are servants of some divine power.
If they are recognizable as X, they are not betraying the nature of X.
