Post-post-apocalyptic roleplaying game where you play as a mercenary crew driving a tank across a severely depopulated and Old West-style USA.
Would you play it?
I only ask because I'm designing a tank-based combat/RPG-tabletop hybrid system and struggling to find a setting for it. The tabletop part is easy it can just be muh Cold War but I don't think anyone wants to roleplay as an actual soldier. It's pretty boring. It's pretty much just "be yourself but incredibly bored and with a near unlimited amount of firepower and time."

So Space Marines can feel fear, sadness, love, pity, hope, despair, hopelessness, compassion etc right but they're so brainwashed that they can't express it beyond an urge to murder fuck something in the nearest vicinity?

Like, 10 being the least boring? Like a 6 or a 7. I think elemental magic is cool because of its broad range of applications. It's a flexible discipline but still themed in a cohesive aesthetic. Even ye olde pyromancer can have some cool knowledge about combustion, thermodynamics and of course demolitions to provide some utility in addition to pure offensive power.

said. And in the case of the pyromancer I've had mine do some off the wall type of shit. performing things that other schools of magic are capable of with a fiery twist or two. He would scry though open flames. Try to discern the future through signs in ash and such, and was super happy to summon flaming dancing girls for a performance or two. shit's fun

Is this the beginning of the end? For me it already was in about 6th when the meta became a mess of big plastic kits and DLC-type formations, campaign books and datasheets.

I am now fully convinced that Warhammer 40,000 is going to have big chances in 8th edition and a lot of the existing fan base will not be happy.
Less dystopian.
Massively simplified rules.
More huge mega-kits and a much brighter look to models, more in line with AoS.

I'm hoping I don't regret this, but I'm in need of some advice from from you smar/tg/uys. Also, pic semi-related (only drow I had that wasn't anime or fetishy at the moment).
Basically, I'm changing the Drow up slightly in my 5e D&D campaign (in before "don't play D&D"), and I thought that instead of just spiders, they have integrated other arachnids and insects into their society. The race claims dominion of a massive jungle/swamp, so I felt that giant bugs would help vary them up a bit.
So far: I have:
Nobles: Spiders - kind of a given, using their silk as a sign of rank.
Warriors, ground cavalry: Either Scorpions or Giant Stag Beetles, and wear 'chitin' armor (functionally similar to plate, but slightly lighter.)
Warriors, airborn: Dragonfly Riders, specializing in archery.
Priests: Centipedes
Mages: Here's where I get stuck. I can't think of an insect/arachnid suitable for arcane spellcasters to associate themselves with.
Peasants/Lower Class: Common Beetles, used as dray animals.
Any suggestions, /tg/?

this is one of the stories of my gay half ork Yoq ( sound like york & being gay only came about because i had to make up some secret for him on the fly to get through a portal )
and his Pixie partner ( female bard in battle) named Fi ( also has siblings....fee, foe, fumb, frimp & crumb) who has brought him back to life more often then he would like, every time York dies it is always ether saving his party from the impossible ( Riding a chunk of white ice which was drawn down the spiraling flow of crashing water into the open face of an astral Kraken and then disappearing into the crushing black of its yawning mouth which bought the party enough time to get away from the whirl pool, york while not single handed had stopped the kraken from getting the party) or defying fate and doing the impossible ( rolling insanely well and fucking up any Big Bad that is in front of him) this in our group earned me a postal from gurren loggen in honor of your which reads "A true man NEVER dies even when he is killed"

It's not bad. It is a lot simpler, it focuses more on consistency, and it's got a little bit more "the story guides the numbers, not the numbers guiding the story" than recent versions.
It's going to be a bit of a shock going from a game where complicated builds and sorting lots of options was the important thing to a game where the numbers aren't as important, but give it a chance: it might scratch an itch you don't know you have.
