What's the class/archetype/race you will never, ever play, even at gunpoint?
I am not going to play druid (and to the lesser extent ranger, but I'm more open minded about that one). "Muh forest", "muh nature" and "muh animals" are simply not compelling concepts for me.

I'll repost in the new thread
Hey lads,
I'm looking to build a one session Dungeon where my players have to figure out how to escape while being hunted; I was wondering if there were any pre-mades that I can give a look over?

>not playing a druid of the coast that's just a totally chilled out beach bum. Doesn't even have to be "muh forest" "muh nature." Talk about "respecting the elements, bro." Underestimating the wave if a big no no.

Is there such a thing as too much homebrew /tg/?
Do what feels best for your tabletop.
Literally nobody else's opinion matters on this front and the fact that you felt the need to ask it seems fairly needy.
>>52263553
In a vacuum? No. You need to have something to relate it too to make a judgement.
>is it too much homebrew for my players to ever use
>is it too much homebrew for me to enjoy making
>is it too much homebrew for me to lead a functional life while making it

In terms of lore, when it can't be encompassed in one afternoon of reading you really should reconsider whether you want to play a game or write a book.
In terms of rules - one line is already too much.
Howdy,
I've got a dungeons and dragons issue I need help with. I'm playing 5th edition, I'm DM'ing, and I'm trying to come up with a series of trials for my character to accomplish. My cleric is going on a spiritual journey and she must visit each of the seven continents, with her party, and gain a brand on her arms, proving she is worthy.
I've tried to come up with some on my own, but writers block is setting in. If anyone has any ideas, good or bad, I'd love to hear them.
I'll post a few D&D memes and post cool D&D stories if you have some. Stories can't help my writing process.
I just like taking about D&D and could use the help.
I'll wait a bit.
I'd start by picking what seven virtues her god would want her to prove.
It's probably a good idea to start with the seven classic virtues, and modify them to your tastes.

Has your character ever encountered a friendly undead?
>What spurred your character to become an adventurer?
He got pissed as his hometown for assuming he burnt up the place because he spent at least half his youth practicing his weird ass fire powers.
> What marketable skills do they have if they had to leave the open road for something more sedentary?
He has decent knowledge skills and a great heal skill, along with knowing methods of non-Divine mystic healing. I think he could carve out some kinda niche.
As someone considering getting into Warhammer 40K, what would you recommend in terms of armies?
I'm not looking for anything too serious, just something to paint and play semi-competitively with friends.
I like the look of Chaos Daemons, specifically Khorne and Tzeench, but it doesn't look like they have a whole lot of variation when it comes to painting them. Tyranids also look interesting, but they're a bit more on the expensive side. Skiitari look fun, but they don't seem to be very well-supported in terms of actual models.
>>52261898
Daemons and Nids are kinda fucked in terms of being competitive, they have really shit rules that fuck with them.
Skittari on the other hand have the benefit of being an Imperial army so their list isn't just their own codex, but pretty much every Imperial codex with them. IIRC they've also recently or will soon combined the 30k Mechanicum with the Mechanicus for 40k play which would drastically up the amount of faction specific units you can use.
You can also never go wrong by throwing a Knight into your army.
Have you looked into the Getting Started! Kits? Bear in mind, 8th edition is coming out sooner rather than later. If you do intend to play it may be worth it to wait till it comes out. But, if you don't really care about that, then I'd say buy whatever you want that makes you happiest.
>>52261971
Do we have an estimate for when it's coming out? Will there be many major changes in terms of models, or many just rule changes?
I was thinking.
In fantasy orcs are the evil counterpart to elves.
Goblins are the evil counterpart to dwarves.
Halflings are the third basic fantasy race, but they don't have an established evil counterpart to my knowledge. What should such a race be like?
orcs are the evil counterpart to humans
elves are the evil counterpart to dwarves
kobolds are the evil counterpart to gnomes
no one gives a fuck about halflings
Duergar are the evil counterpart to dwarves.
>>52261481
Duergar are just evil dwarves. They are to dwarves as dark elves are to elves.
any of you backing giant killer robots?
I've been reading through the stretch goals and they're adding a ton of shit, at the moment they're about 10 grand away from adding a fourth model
how are they affording to do this? if these models are kickstarter exclusives like they say, will that fuck up their retail launch of the game?
I'm interested in the game but I'm having trouble understanding how they're going to be able to deliver this many minis including 4 nicely painted ones for 100 usd
>>52260937
>how
by spending all the money on shitty looking minis instead of writing an understandable rulebook.
>>52260961
eh, I read the pdf of the rulebook, it's actually not bad
the game seems relatively easy to pick up
It looks okay, but in terms of mecha tabletop kickstarters I'm more excited about Giga Robo. The campaign ended a while ago, just waiting for the pledge manager to open up.
Flesh isn't life. Servos, gyros and fuel, this is where life comes from! You're defending by-product, at best! We will restore the Necron empire and retake the galaxy!
>t. Anon, a professional quotemaker
>>52260866
Isn't gyros like Greek kebab?
>>52260866
>Flesh isn't life.
Clinically factual, flesh is the soft substance consisting of muscle and fat that is found between the skin and bones.
>Servos, gyros and fuel, this is where life comes from
Only the last one is correct, servos and gyros are not a source of life.
>You're defending by-product, at best!
What am I defending? I'll take your word on it.
>We will restore the Necron empire and retake the galaxy!
I hope not! Green is a dreary color.
Has anyone run a Delta Green scenario recently? I'm thinking of running a triplet (Last Things Last, The Last Equation, the Night Floors) and I'm wondering how hard to ride my players over their tradecraft or lack thereof.
>>52260477
>I'm wondering how hard to ride my players over their tradecraft or lack thereof
It depends on how much NCIS/Homeland/whatever TV show with federal agencies they have watched and how much they could realistically expect to know about their agency's tradecraft.
It's a good question because I have played with non-Americans that don't "get" how the 3 letter agencies "work" and what they could realistically be able to be equipped with.
I say guide them and reign them in when necessary.
>>52260477
I'm running "The Laundry" which is easily the best ISO 9001 certified interpretation of Cthulu I have ever seen.
It combines the best aspects of Cthulu mythos and monster hunting with the accurate representation of govt bureaucracy and red tape.
>>52260533
>I say guide them and reign them in when necessary.
It's a pity, becuase I sort of want to give them enough room to screw themselves with the powers they have. I'd rather let them beat a suspect then have IA chase them than just tell them they "don't feel right." or use the GM patented "are you sure?"
Which ship has the most bodacious babes onboard?
>>52259956
the 40k ship has a larger crew size, so probably them

There are probably tons of women on the Imperial ship, but I feel like the average quality of a filthy indentured laborer girl is going to be pretty poor.

Ok, after looking at the Contemptor Sprues, would it really be that bad if I elongated a Contemptor Hull, put some Generator type stuff on the back and used Deredeo Weapons and converted the front armour to have the Heavy Bolters? And also use the bigger base size.
I'd really rather butcher a Contemptor than use the fugly Deredeo Hull, and the basic body doesn't seem bigger.
alright this is quite the interesting situation we have here. The GM is a sack of shit, he has never run a game, has no story prepped, has barely even read the book, knows none of the rules, and inserts his magical realm furries every session. lastly he gave everyone about 5 different god level magical artifacts because they asked for them.
BUT he's not an asshole, he's just super autistic and a lying sack of shit who keeps telling people he's spent two years on this game.
i recently quit the game after 6 sessions because i was just wasting my time here, this was maybe one of the worst games I've ever been in. but i dont want this game to go down as the flaming pile of dog shit that it is, i want to help the poor guy out by making some stuff he can actually use instead of having absolutely nothing prepped each week and it being depressingly sad.
so I'm about to start writing up some stuff he can use for the next 3 sessions or so, encounters, locations, etc. the problem is i dont actually know too much about l5r myself, i only joined because my friend was in it.
i could use some help with info on different things that appear in the shadowlands (because thats where the game is set apparently) i can come up with meaningful encounters but i only know about western creatures/ideals.
Thanks everyone, i know this was a bit much, and most people would just say good riddance let the game be shit. but i wanna help him out.
You might find the resources here to be useful if you don't have access to the rulebooks: http://l5r.wikia.com/wiki/Legend_of_the_Five_Rings_Wiki
That said, I wouldn't exactly recommend trying to write a load of stuff (especially for a game someone else is running), without access to the basic rules. If nothing else, you need them so you can get the encounters statted sensibly.
>>52259579
i do have the core book, and a few extra books i picked up while getting into the game.
the unfortunate thing is the power scaling, most of the party is insight rank 11 with somewhere around 10 dice on even their low rolls. BUT the other 3 party members are insight rank 5. with around 5 dice on their good stuff.
If you have no previous experience Gming, don't aim high.
Your first adventure has to be short and simple. Best option is using some ready adventure.
