Everyone is too lazy to make a new thread edition.
>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks. /hwg/ doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to very specific games, so this thread isn't tied to a game, or a genre, lets talk about fun wargames.
Any scale, any genre, any company, any minis. Skirmishers welcome. Rules designers welcome.
>Examples of games that qualify
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_miniature_wargames
Grimdark Future, Age of Fantasy, Mighty Armies, Dragon Rampant, Of Gods and Mortals, Frostgrave, Hordes of the Things, Songs of Blades and Heroes, Freebooter's Fate, Dark Age, LotR and anything that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread (gorkamundheim).

After having an argument with a friend, I want to know what /awg/ thinks of campaign systems in games.
What kind of campaigns do you guys like and why?
>>52175598
What was the argument about specifically?
I like games with individual unit progression, injuries, interaction with opponents outside of games, territory control and expansion and a wee bit of financing and book keeping.
So basically Necromunda and Mordheim style games.
>>52175560
CMoN are almost as bad at supporting their games as spartan are, arguably worse in some respects. I don't expect much from this.
Comfy edition

Starter question:
>How comfy is your world?
>How comfy is your world?
I can already predict that a lot of answers will be "depends on where you live". I guess my world is pretty comfy, because there are a lot of places that you can have a quite peaceful life. There are a lot of conflicts of course, wars, nations against nations, tribes against tribes, believers against other believers. But the world is vast, with still a lot of room to settle in for yourself. Not that many world-ending threats around as well.

>/wbg/ - Worldbuilding General
Neat, I have something to share that I drew a few hours ago that might peek /tg/'s interest.
This isn't really a complicated idea (I actually stole it from a friend), but in my current setting I have three sub-species of 'Asque: Aquasque, Terrasque, and Ignasque who all basically live and terrorize the respective living creatures in their environment before going to sleep once they've had their fill of everything.
The Aquasque specifically though is a MASSIVE fucking whale-like creature (about 200ft/60meters long) and makes a living filter feeding basically everything- it doesn't have large gnashing teeth as it doesn't need them: it opens it's mouth, water floods in, it closes it's mouth, water filters out, and the food stays behind to be swallowed whole.. It's quite a passive aggressive living natural disaster in retrospect, but that's nature.

Checked to see if I got a (you) and saw (you) so:
I used Azeroth as a quick example because I couldn't think of a clichea kind of world with really egregious climates. I guess Faeun? Faerun? I always forget if the r exists or not.
Looking at it for a glance: Quel'thalas is the same latitude as howling fjord and grizzly hills of northrend but is standard continental. Could be due to climatic patterns like how L O N D O N is on a latitude with abysmally cold Canada but I am not sure what climatic patterns and not interested in charting a gulf stream system.
-Mulgore is the lush and verdant region on the interior of the continent, surrounded by arid barrens and arid desolace. Begs the question how it gets lush and greeny.
Barrens and Durotar (whatever that starting area is, the peninsula where orcs and trolls start at) is same latitude as frozen Dun Morough and verdant and wet Wetlands and Loch Modan. Could be due to climatic stuff same way SE USA is humid and wet and SW USA is dry but in my experience taht means barrens/durotar should be wet and Dun Morough and Wetlands/Loch Modan should be drier.
-Mountains are used way too much a'la some Hyboria maps to divide provinces to the point that it looks artifical.

Iron Hands, always liked them. Honourable mention to World Eaters, they're cool too.
Have you ever played a character who had autism and/or mental retardation?
>>52269322
I've played OP
Actually, yes. But he didn't start that way.
Mithras Robalias was just a psyker, in the start, but when a loose bolt of warp energy blasted him in the dome after a horrible terrors of the warp episode, his brain was infused with its energies in a way that drove his brain to do the only rational thing: Stop working properly to be spared from the horror. His helmet was the only thing that kept him alive, and was stuck to his head afterwards.
Good thing too, since he was retarded and always smacking it into stuff afterwards. Surprisingly it was all uphill for him after being made literally retarded.
Thinking of running a cyberpunk game, but I need more inspiration. Do you fellow fa/tg/uys have some recommended books/movies/vidya? I already read Neuromancer, and I've seen Blade Runner.
A system recommendation would also be nice.
>>52268820
Go read Snow Crash, it's pretty good.
>>52268837
>The book presents the Sumerian language as the firmware programming language for the brainstem, which is supposedly functioning as the BIOS for the human brain.
>According to characters in the book, the goddess Asherah is the personification of a linguistic virus, similar to a computer virus.
>The god Enki created a counter-program which he called a nam-shub that caused all of humanity to speak different languages as a protection against Asherah (a re-interpretation of the ancient Near Eastern story of the Tower of Babel).
Holy shit.
>>52268844
That's cool, yeah! Added to my list of reads (not OP here).
As for systems, take a look at Shadowrun. I personally don't like it as a game system (especially the dice roll system is just.... Ugh) but the whole magical world + near-future cyberpunk thing is cool, and the latest editions did do pretty cool stuff like trying to figure out how a non-centralized "internet of things" would work and evolve. Read a source book, play the video games (Dragonfall and Hong Kong are legit good).
Other vidya is obviously Deus Ex, original for a more realistic world evolution from now or Human revolution for a more "high-sci fi feel".
Also to read/watch: Ghost in the Shell (NOT the upcoming Hollywood abortion!)
If you want a crazier world that's pretty dystopian (but not really all that cyberpunk as in neon and chrome everywhere) check out Transmetropolitan (pic related).
His name is Samurai "Oh yeah porridge" jack. He just got woke, and he is pissed.

Pathfinder General /pfg/
How come /pfg/ hardly has any archers in its apps for Roll20 games? Is it because archery is great in Paizo only but not really supported by 3pp stuff like PoW or avowed?

Name a rarer card in any card game rarer than the Black Lotus in Magic.
>I just found one on EBay going for $157,000.
A black lotus actually won't sell for much more than $3,000. Still stupidly expensive for a piece of cardboard, but that ebay price is a joke.
>>52265582
Not even the rarest MTG card. Look up Proposal and Splendid Genesis.
>>52265695
Not the rarest cards, actually. The 1995 World Champion has even those beat, since Proposal and its brethren have about 10 copies in existence and the World Champion has 1.
do clones have souls?
1. Yes, they do.
2. No, they don't.
3. Souls don't exist.
Pick one.
Depends on the setting, both if they do and how much it matters.
Personally, I'd say it depends a lot on how much a clone has developed as their own person. Whether they're still just a basic bundle of imprinted memories and functions, or if they've had time to grow and mature just like any other human being.
The complex thing, of course, is clones with implanted memories of another human, or fabricated memories. If I was writing a setting where souls were a thing and it mattered, I think I would say that a soul is not simply a static thing, but something life develops through awareness of itself and expression of its sentience and sapience. Anything with self knowledge and self will will, after a time, develop a soul.
best not let skirata hear you say that shit son
Look, I know it's a shitposting meme but how do I make 5e fighters do damage? Or at least re-purpose my character as I convert him from DPS Fighter from Pathfinder to 5e.
We're starting at level 3 again, same character, same coin and gem wealth, single uncommon magic item available. Human Fighter, basic stat array.
>>52265299
Two-handed polearm, Great Weapon Master feat, Sentinel Feat, Polearm Master feat. You can be battlemaster or champion, both are good for doing damage, but champion is more boring.
You've got two options:
1. Sharpshooter build. Take the Archery fighting style, grab the Sharpshooter fighting style at 4th level (or 1st if you're a variant human that starts with a feat). Go Battle Master, take Precision Strike as one of your maneuvers.
2. Great Weapon build. Start with a greatsword. Take either Great Weapon Fighting or Defense--the actual damage increase makes the higher defense more worthwhile. Take the Great Weapon Master feat at 4th level (or 1st if you're a variant human). Go Battle Master, take Precision Strike as one of your maneuvers.
Alternative builds are longsword and shield with the Shield Master feat or a halberd/glaive with Polearm Master or Sentinel. Both are good control and put out decent damage regardless, the two builds I mentioned previously are just fuck-huge damage.
>>52265350
The Great Weapon build seems most like what my character used to be, but can I use a Maul instead?
Is it heresy?
