I love settings such as the one depicted in Blame! and related work, and with playing large amounts of NieR Automata, once again my love for androids and robots is revitalized.
What's a good, easy system to capture the feel of playing a "I'm a robot, not a human" game? Engine Heart is nice but doesn't fit the feel in my opinion, Eclipse Phase is cool but not quite the same feel either.
GURPS is bland.

Why exactly can't you animate skeleton inside living human?
Is the crap about some positive energy suffusing living beings the only answer? Even if that was true, should pumping a bit more power to overcome this resistance be enough?
How is living qualitatively different from being dead?
Most magic systems require you to be able to see the target of your spell.
>>52271776
The living person resists the spell.
>>52271776
What would the ability to do so add to a game?
If you allow that sort of invasive magic to work easily, all the old tricks like tiny changes in temperature inside the human body or pinching a blood vessel in the brain make it trivial for almost any form of magic to cause instant death, paralysis or what have you.
If you want a rocket tag game where the first person to successfully cast a spell wins, go nuts, but that doesn't sound like a particularly fun dynamic to me.

Can they do something against those shitty pagan horsearcher?
Why, they hate drow. There's no reason they'd go to save the Byzzies.
>they march against the dragons and the hordes of dragonfored curved blade-wielding kobold servants that have been making raids on their territory
>Dragon religion and elf religion is similar with slight differences, dragon being more about dominance and respect to authority
>Ultimate goal is an attempt to reclaim the sacred mountain of both religions

I wish you would at least make a little attempt to write something for these builds. One sentence just makes these builds seem so bland.
Due to some rather archaic stipulations, I find that paladins are often forced into one-dimensional goody two shoes heal tanks. I feel that this is a pretty bum deal to characters of one of the most useful classes in many systems.
How would you RP an interesting paladin while not straying from the lawful-good alignment?
>>52271351
Knight in sour armor? It can be very very tiring having to be the good guy.
Alternately go down the Deus Vult path a bit. You don't have to be a full, frothing-at-the-mouth genocidist, but your paladin could certainly have anger issues.
>>52271418
But even D&D 4e and 5e did away with the alignment restriction to lawful good
Older editions also had shit like Grey/Black/Rainbow-guard for other kinds of paladins
>Rolled stats
I got an 18 and 2 16's!
I got a 14, nothing else above 13, and 2 9's.
>Point Buy

So do I!
Why is it so hard for people to understand?
Because some people are Roleplayers and others are Rollplayers.
>>52271249
Sometimes it's fun to work within challenging parameters.
If you're too autistic to understand this, let me point out that the editions of D&D where rolling for stats was the only method, your stats didn't have as deep of an impact on your character's abilities as they do in later editions.
>>52271249
But anon, taking the standard array doesn't give you joy of role playing a character with a stat of 4. Some of the best characters ive ever seen have had at least one terrible stat that the player leaned into.
>eldritch knight with and int of 4
>wizard with the wisdom of an infant
>overweight fighter with a dex of 5
All great things if you just allow it to happen anon
Scion has a lot of good ideas, but the system itself is really bad (and gets worse the deeper in you get, becoming an unplayable mess of automatic successes somewhere in Demigod). I was holding out hope for 2e, but all the previews are really disappointing and I'm not going to pay $100 because they decided to split the core rules into two books.
Is there a good system where Scion could be recreated while still having a fair amount of crunch? I made and playtested a rules-light version, and it didn't scratch the same itch. I want something with some meat on it's bones, but that doesn't fall apart under the slightest pressure and could actually let you go from Hero to God levels.
Also Scion General I guess, it's what the cool kids do these days. Tell me stories of modern gods.
>>52270892
I'm still hopeful about 2e, if only because I think they improved the setting a bit (I didn't like all-evil Titans, personally).
That said, I can't know if I'll like it until I actually see the meat of the mechanics. I hate how quiet they've gotten the last few months. No updates makes anon a very angry boy.
>>52271884
I liked the Titans not necessarily as evil, but as antithetical to a world with humans on it.
The Gods are us: personifications, lovers, enemies, judges, kings, mothers. For better or worse, they are bound up in humankind. The Titans were another force altogether, who might hate or might simply not care at all, except that the world isn't what they want. So many of the myths and Titans tied back into primordial chaos, of making the world somewhere that human civilization could not exist.

Dude, we got an update this month
It's about Prophecy, fatebindings, and all that shit
Hey, /tg/
Me and two of my friends are looking for someone to guide us through our first tabletop rpg adventure. Normally I would look for a gameshop in my area and ask around there but the only one we had closed down in 2013
A bit more details.
We want to play D&D 5e to see If we like it, gain some experience and move to something more complex like Pathfinder or earlier D&D editions. We are from Europe so time zone difference is going to be very apparent.

>Savage Werewolves are replaced by savage Werebats
>Noble, immortal vampires are replaced by noble, immortal lycans
What changes would happen? What lifestyles and tropes change?
>>52270447
Since the lycans don't HAVE to drink blood or eat, I expect the noble houses would kill significantly less, unless theyre all up for wolfing out
>>52270447
Savage werebats do their savage thingy each full moon.
Noble immortal lycans are now OP because they don't have a lust for blood, and are obviously furry fetishists.
Worst timeline ever.
>>52270496
>>52270532
Noble lycans need a drawback. If they lust foe blood then theyre just hairy vampires. If they don't lust for blood then what do they need?
Also, I feel as if noble lycans range from purebred dog families, rowdy mutts and vain packwolves

nah
It's a rare thing when I don't DEUS VULT.
How do you figure out what's a good level of monster for your party to handle /tg/? I'm still kinda new to table top and the problem I'm having essentially boils down to this:
I want some non-boss combats to feel challenging and a bit more interesting. but god damn it my players are really good at killing things and I don't want to throw something too hard at them and wipe the party. The party has a decently challenging time when i throw one thing at them around or above their level but sending several smaller guys at them that equal a certain level (5 level 1s= level 5 encounter) never pans out because their too easy to kill. I don't want my party just fighting one monster to give them challenge, I want them being swarmed, out numbered, overwhelmed from time to time. But I can't really do that without coughing up the exponential amount of experience that would give them since it's technically a high level encounter filled with low-level mooks.
pls help
>>52269432
System?
>>52269553pathinderplease no bully
Depends on the system, depends on the party, depends on everything.
A level 2 party who plays its cards right can flex on a CR7 hill giant easy.
What setting has the best Hell?
What is Hell like your in setting /tg/?
Hell is literally an immense city, made into the only gate to the Abyss, like a plug in a way. You can only reach Hell through a Hellmouth, which are found in the ground and hellcats
>>52269357
>hellcats
Are these cute?
>>52269367
No, they're large fiendish wildcats with literal gates to Hell in their mouths. They can vomit fire and brimstone, and whatever they eat goes to Hell.

Putting this one up again, I really like it and I want to see other peoples' builds for it.
Version 1.2 is done, and I'm accepting Companion-formatted builds to be put in the NCYOA.
