Hi guys, i come to you in a time of need. Last week i got together with my old battlefield 1942 clan, got drunk and the subject of me having roleplayed a long time ago came up. It was then that another guy revealed he had roleplayed in the past and we hyped the shit out of the rest of the group on rpgs.
In the following days we started talking about it sober and everyone's still on the rpg boat and the other "veteran" in the group wants to DM. The catch is that it has to be a WW2 setting game that is not a pain in the ass to learn to dm as he has bare to none dm'ing experience. It wouldnt hurt if the system is versatile enough to include a bit of fantasy to it, im thinking nazis summoning eldritch beings (hellboy style), a nazi necromancer raising the dead to fight once more and the likes.
>TL;DR
>Need recommendations for WW2 rpg that is "noob dm" friendly

You'll probably be told GURPS, so let's get that out of the way.
You say they're new? Well depending on how tactical you want to be you might look up strike.
Lastly if all else fails, I'm sure there's something called d20 modern
>>52309177
yeah, i had a vague understanding of gurps and investigated a bit but was told that the system is a bit complicated on the DM's end.
i'll dig out some info on strike and that d20 modern tip you gave.
Tanks for the help!
bumping for alternatives
I dont know much about mtg, so i'm asking /tg/. Has there any been a drastic change in the rules of the game? I don't mean things like certain rulings being changed, I mean big changes that completely change the game.
>>52308557
Stack interactions with attacking/defending creatures and manaburn are the two I recall that had some impact.
>>52308596
I enjoyed the fact that mana burn was now no longer a thing
>>52308619
It became not a thing literally a day after I had an argument about it with a guy. It was kinda funny.

SMASH THE R@
I kinda needed them for a 5e game I'm participating in. I figured you guys could help since there was a "peasant art thread" and a "drow art thread" up.
I decided to run a game. It's been a week and I have nothing for my setting except for a few names. I only have the vaguest idea of a campaign that's just one sentence, not that it could be summed up in a sentence.
What do I do? It's like I have no imagination (anymore).
>>52306272
You're obviously not in the shape to write a campaign of your own right now, so how about you take a premade one instead.
>>52306272
Get the first session planned. Setting can fuck right off, as long as you can fill 3 hours with something vaguely entertaining the players won't give two shits about the fabled milkshake trees of a far-off land.
THEN you can make the setting, expanding it as the players move to explore it, filling in details as the players draw near.
>>52306354
you can't plan a session without a setting

Golgotha, whew.
Also, you ever wonder what was his face when taking a dump in his awesome poo recycler power armour, and the average curic of his stools based on how Hueg he was alone?
Hey /tg/, any recommendations on games with really cool settings? I'm interested in something that has a really distinct sense of place.

Consider how some of the most interesting settings are made by mixing two genres or concepts and making something new out of them. Consider Shadowrun, a blend of High fantasy and cyberpunk or Warhammer 40k, a mix of space opera and Classic Fantasy.
Lets create a campaign setting for GURPS based around the coolest things we can think of. First five posts will be the core concepts of the setting and we can build on it from there.

>"Paladins are not stupid, and in general there is no rule of Lawful Good against killing enemies. The old adage about nits making lice applies. Also, as I have often noted, a paladin can freely dispatch prisoners of Evil alignment that have surrendered and renounced that alignment in favor of Lawful Good. They are then sent on to their reward before they can backslide.
>An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is by no means anything but Lawful and Good. Prisoners guilty of murder or similar capital crimes can be executed without violating any precept of the alignment. Hanging is likely the usual method of such execution, although it might be beheading, strangulation, etc. A paladin is likely a figure that would be considered a fair judge of criminal conduct..."
>"...I will state unequivocally that in the alignment system as presented in OAD&D, an eye for an eye is lawful and just, Lawful Good, as misconduct is to be punished under just laws. Lawful Neutrality countenances malign laws. Lawful Good does not.
>Mercy is to be displayed for the lawbreaker that does so by accident. Benevolence is for the harmless. Pacifism in the fantasy milieu is for those who would be slaves. They have no place in determining general alignment, albeit justice tempered by mercy is a NG manifestation, whilst well-considered benevolence is generally a mark of Good." -Gary Gygax 2005
Full text: http://pastebin.com/ZuX4Lxqw
Alot of what Gygax said in this response is solid, and I certainly don't debate the use of violent punishment to uphold justice in a medieval society. But... well, there's one bit of his response that I find really fucking disturbing, the casual citing of that "old adage about nits making lice".
http://quoteinvestigator.com/2016/02/11/nits/
Was Gygax just ignorant as to the origins of that expression, and thought it meant something different? Because that old adage comes from real-life child murderers who were justifying actual genocide.

>>52302092
No, he knew exactly what he was saying. Allowing your enemies' children to grow up and take arms against you is foolish. You're going to have to kill them either way, better to do it while they're defenseless than give them a chance to win.

waifu cyoas are good, but in moderation. when you have too many waifu cyoas that all showcase the same type of waifus it gets really boring, but every now and then a really good waifu cyoa shows up.

ha, butte hold
Anyone tried the new simplified fire and smoke rules in the Battlemech Manual yet? Or was TW right to get rid of it and no one actually plays with that stuff? I don't here much about it ever, but I see it in all my old rulebooks.
I have a need, a need for Grasshopper Variants.
An IIC version is good to.
