I told you not to make waves
So /tg I have a few friends who have never played a tabletop rpg and are interested in this, mainly dnd.
I played a good deal of 3.5 and some other rpgs so I would be running it. I dont care for 3.5 so I was thinking of trying PathFinder just to try it out to see if I like that a bit more.
So heres the thing, its likely this would be a one shot. But, they might be interested in more rpg's after this.
I am wondering about two things:
1. I want to run an AD&D second edition planescape campaign at some point. If they liked PathFinder we could xfer those characters/create new characters over to 2nd edition rules. also, we could say that the pathfinder encounter was just on one plane and then they go to sigil. I have never done anything like this and am curious if people have tried this or think that is the dumbest idea ever.
2. pathfinder helps them understand the rules so that way we could play StarFinder (if that turns out being worthwhile and the group thinks it looks cool)
>>55176741
Don't play DnD
I am also curious if people here have positive reviews of planescape and if advanced d&d 2nd edition is even playable now.
>>55176759
i am aware of the flaws of dnd (probably least favorite system), however, it seems like this is what they want to do and I am very familiar with the rules.
>>55176856
Tell them why DnD is boring and why they should play something more fun. If that fails get new friends.
Cube General

I'm not too sure in these scenarios, but I always force Reanimator so Entomb snap pick for me.
Green cards and Paliano might wheel but don't listen to me I don't know what I'm talking about.
Draft my Cubes pls

How do you build a fun cube? Does cube solve some of the problems that make booster drafts feel clunky and boring?
Only answer I've ever seen is "because it's not GURPS."
Familiarity breeds contempt.
>tg
More people on /tg/ like D&D than hate it.
It's just that the people who hate it are the kind of angry contrarians who genuinely think that if they shitpost enough, just like you OP, that they can create an inhospitable environment for discussing the game they hate so much.
So fuck you, OP. And fuck all y'all idiots who waste your time hating on a game that's nowhere near as bad as you want to pretend it is.
Because D&D is the most popular and entry level RPG by far. 4chan needs to be contrarian and a lot of nerds like to be elitists about their nerdiness, so they react bad to something more widespread, labelling it as casual like it's a bad thing.
As a big fan of Pathfinder, I desperately want a revised edition of my cherished game. Streamlined mechanics, reduced mechanical bloat, and a hefty sheen of polish on what's good from 3e would do wonders for the system. It could totally revitalize a system that is, quite frankly, losing ground to 5e D&D. At this point, the Pathfinder system is dying because of its mechanical cruft (counting the history of 3e, it's almost two decades old!).
Releasing a revised edition--a Pathfinder 2e--would surely reinvigorate Paizo's brand, bring in new players, and push them to the top of sales charts. Yet it seems that Pathfinder players are mule-stubborn and dead set against a new edition.
What gives?
Stop caring about what other people play so much. I have half a mind to expect you are just shitposting.
Pathfinder is still the 2nd most popular game. That's pretty fucking healthy and far, far, far from dying, unless you consider every game except for 5e to be a rotten corpse.
So, shut the fuck up for a bit.
Yeah it's a tough situation for them. On one hand, they're waist-deep in bloat that puts off new players. But they also have a following of autists who WANT that bloat.
Frankly, I'm fine with Paizo continuing to do its own thing. They have an audience. It sounds like you need to do some research and look into other systems, OP. Maybe there's one out there that fits your needs.
>>55176504
>memeing this hard
I genuinely wish the idiots who do nothing but shitpost back and forth between themselves would take the opportunity to step outside their cancerous little cysts they created for themselves, and learn about the actual state of game communities and what they're actually like, rather than insisting on their forced meme versions at every available opportunity (and creating them when none arise).
Shadow of War's general bullshittery aside, do we have any real info on what happened to the Entwives/whether or not they are still around in the Third Age?

Keep the MK/Lady N related squabbling to a minimum.
To keep this from becoming /tesg/ minus waifus, don't post memes unless you are also posting quality discussion. Especially if it's not even Elder Scrolls related.
Previous Kalpa: Dragonbroken
How much of the history of Morrowind is Azura fucking with Dunmer for her own amusement?
I'm claiming this thread for the glory of Alkosh.
I THOUGHT YOU SAID DUAL WIELDING WASN'T REAL AND ISN'T AN APPLICABLE MEANS OF COMBAT!
For the past year I've been participating in HEMA and historical combat training and I've mostly been fond of the axe and shield or glaive.
But last night one of my instructors was going over the rennaisance and talking about dualing, and I tried brandishing a small sword in my left hand, and after a few minutes I quickly got the hang of it.
I always see people on /tg/ saying that it's completely unrealistic and not a good means to defend yourself, but I have to say that if you were facing an opponent with a single weapon, or even a weapon and shield, and you were confident in your skills, that you would have no trouble dispatching them in one on one combat.
The most common use I got out of the second sword was to parry a blow and gain leverage with my mainhand weapon, or strike while my blade was against their shield. swinging with both blades also meant I could feint with one blade while still following through with one blade.
Now that I'm making this claim, I'm also curious:
Have you ever tried out historical weaponry? How did it effect your views on combat portrayed in tabletop gaming?
>>55170345
Dual wielding is a perfectly valid to wield the blade, the only problem is that it requires twice as much focus as mono wielding, and thus, should not be used in an actual battle.
>>55170345
dual wielding in real life isnt the "animoo double attack power"
its actually used more for giving you an extra angle to attack from, to counterattack and punish weaknesses in the enemy defenses
so it would be more defensive than offensive like it usually is depicted
>>55170463
>Is perfectly valid
>Should not be used in combat
Could you explain further? These seem to be contradictory.
Do you mean in mass combat? If so, I definitely agree.
>Call it empire
>It is actually an confederation of dukes.
>>55169855
This surely warrants a whole thread

Calling countries something they aren't is a time honored tradition.
>a trader, knowing there has been a poor harvest, raises the price of grain, breaking no law
Is this an Evil act? I do not believe so, as it is Lawful in intent and execution, and is a reasonable response to low supply.
If the trader were not to raise prices, he would be putting himself, his family and his business - and thus his own employees and their families - at risk, which would be an Evil act.
If he raised prices in a way which contravened laws, that would not be a Lawful act.
But I believe demand driven price increases on food in a time of famine are Lawful Neutral, possibly even Lawful Good.
>>55169601
At what percentage/price point do you start to question his motives? 200% of his original price? 400%? 1600%?

>The year of our lord 2000 +17
>Almost 2000 +18
>People still use alignments for anything ever
>>55169601
That's a basic law of supply and demand. It's Lawful neutral and basically nothing else.
>obligatory Alignments are stupid, have you tried not playing D&D 3.P post.
