Is Duel Masters a failed off-brand card game that never took off?
I have about 600 cards lying around back at home from the first 2 sets. I was a kid, and cards were shiny, anime, and had cryptic instructions on them, so I bought a lot... all through boosters. I don't think I ever got to read the rules... at least, not the full version, the big pack they sold had rules inside, but they said nothing of Evolution rules, so I couldn't really play, and no one my age would want to learn rules in a foreign language to play a nerd game.
In the end, I never learned much about Duel Masters, so tell me more!Fuck, I should've bought Yu-Gi-Oh en masse instead, but I think they were twice as expensive, an entire $0.01 instead of 0.005!

It's dead.
I liked the dc/marvel game.

>yugioh goes in /vg/
What? Why?
Why did it die though? Is the game weak on its own, or was the competition just too strong?

What is the best way to roll starting ability scores for a range 3 to 18 start and why is it 5d6 drop the lowest, highest and middle score, then add 1d6?
>>55185022
[s]The best way to roll starting abilities is to do it at home and surprise the GM with your amazing luck where no value is below 14[/s]
The best way to roll for attributes is to not roll for attributes and use fucking point buy.
>>55185037
This.
In D&D in particular there is no reward for having low stats. There ARE games where you roll stats and get more stuff to play with if you roll low, but for D&D there's no reason to hamstring your characters with stat-rolling.
Pointbuy or bust.
Rolled stats only works in comedy games or brutal meatgrinders, where low stats are either just as funny as high ones or you're going to die anyway so it doesn't matter.
The only exceptions I've seen are systems which use randomisation that still ends up with everyone having the same amount of stats in total, but the allocation is unpredictable. Through the Breach's random stat generation is interesting in that respect, using cards to determine which array of stat values you get to distribute, but everyone having the same amount of stat points total.
What non horse mount do you like to use?

Stags.
What systems do martial arts well? I don't mind too much super natural elements, But something where you're a god is something I'd rather stray away from
Legends of the Wulin is a good one there. It does have supernatural elements BUT you can easily say 'No elemental attacks' and there are plenty of internals left to take still, especially with the wiki.
>>55184018
I've read Legends of the Wulin before... and that book was horrid.
The basic mechanic seems simple enough... ish. But its hard to tell what are rules and what's just fluff.
Is there a Simple breakdown of how everything works in a way an idiot like me can understand? Or at least one thats at least organized.

>I've read Legends of the Wulin before... and that book was horrid.
Oh yes, the editing of that book is an abomination unto god.
http://wulinlegends.pbworks.com/w/page/48630360/Portal The Half-Burned Manual here has some good examples of waves and conditions but I'll try to drag up something for the base game itself.

I absolutely LOVED him, and he deserved to win!

I thought the whole nature theme of elves played into pagans pretty well. I'm writing what pagan themed elves would be like, currently they practice ancestor worship and venerate spirits of the forest. They also burn people in wickermen. What other interesting aspects of European pagans can I incorporate into their design.

If you don't have unthinkably swift, naked, and fanatical shroom-fueled, heart-eating, axe-wielding berserker-priests you're doing it wrong.
Like, is magical realm actually a thing?
Have any of you actually been in a campaign where the DM or players forced their Fetish on you?
I can't concieve any scenario in which I could ever comfortably insert what I'm into in a campaign overtly. I mean, seriously. How can this be real?
Also story thread, if you got any. I'm bored.

Not in 7 years of roleplaying, no.
I think most of it is just people making stuff up to get off writing bad smut.
Why do you idiots keep remaking this same stupid thread?

Would galactic unification under the Tau be the best "ending" for the 40k galaxy?
Is such a thing even possible considering they have no real anti-Chaos plan?
>>55180964
No. They Tau do not have any meaningful answer for how to effectively combat Chaos, on account of the best weapon against Warp-fuckery being Psykers.
Their complete lack of understanding of it as a concept has pretty much doomed their attempts at galactic domination, because they simply do not have a means to fight against it like the Imperium has.

Hey, question about the girdle of femininity/masculinity in D&D. If the character gets pregnant while a female, then changes sex, where does the baby go? If the genitalia changes, the uterus would be gone, but does that include the baby?
>>55180639
Iron Heart Surge!I would just say the curse fails to activate in that situation to be tactful.
The soul of the baby is transported immediately to 'The Coathangus Plane', a territory of negative energy that torments the feeble mind of the baby for eternity.
Entering the plane requires a Knowledge(Planes) check as it is one of the lesser known ones.

Does Charisma go hand-in-hand with being good looking? Is it possible to play a Dragonborn or Tiefling with through the roof Charisma?
No, charisma is force of personality, presence, the ability to make people around you feel a certain way just by being around. You don't have to be good looking to be convincing or a good leader.
>>55178159
Considering tieflings have a racial bonus to charisma depending on edition , i think you can.
>>55178159
>Charisma go hand-in-hand with being good looking
Charismatic people aren't necessarily good-looking. Many successful people with great personal magnetism, including many great entertainers and leaders in all areas, simply aren't much to look at.

>Too much magic can ruin a fantasy. Magic is a very powerful ingredient and it unbalances everything. You can't put in a lot of magic and then still have a medieval setting or the same social structure. The existence of magic would radically deform any society or culture in major, major ways. If you look at the history of the real Middle Ages, magic was very present. Of course it didn’t really work but they didn’t know that. They believed in witches and killed and burned many witches and wizards. They believed in alchemy and angels and demons. There were also doubters so I try to replicate that. When magic works, it works a little uncertainly and it’s not something everyone can work. I don’t like the idea of a magic system, which some fantasists use. If magic is systematic, then it’s not magic and more of a fake science. Magic is the supernatural and it’s beyond nature. It’s dangerous, uncontrollable and unpredictable, which is the flavour I try to deal with. Really my models were the great fantasists like Tolkien. There’s a very magical feel to Middle-earth but there’s very little on-stage magic. Gandalf never tries to solve the problem by whipping up a potion or a spell. When he’s attacked he doesn’t throw lightning bolts from his fingernails, but picks up a sword like everyone else.

B-b-b-but I want to fly around invisibly while transformed into a Giant Ape that doesn't exist in the setting! I want that setting to be an easy to grasp Ren-Fair version of old Europe while also having the power to warp reality at the fingertips of every magician! REEEEEEE
