I'm intrigued by the idea of playing a superhero based rpg, but most people here seem more interested in standard fantasy
I took a look at the Heroes system and Champions and they seemed ok if a little complex, I've heard that the DC book is one of the best though. What do you guys think?
Also general Superhero /tg/ I guess

Marvel Heroic is good.
>>52526055
It's great but an easy to abuse system if the players want to and you let them get away with it.
Don't play with powergamers.
>>52526105
Marvel Heroic *is* good.
What kind of RPGs do you think ancient cultures played at their tabletop, /tg/?

He said tabletop not LARPs dude
>run horror campaign
>ask players to give me a very personal story of their characters to be used in a joint nightmare sequence
>get various memories good and bad, of families, friends and lovers
>and then there's that one motherfucker
>personal story is fighting a serial killer in the forest with his dog
>try to prod an actual story by asking how he came across his dog
>"he was a stray and I kinda bumped on him"
>a stray peurebread Great Dane
>change encounter to a ghost fight instead
>he gets passive aggressive once the dog gets spooked to near death by the apparition
>all his encounters are "I google what we found" since day 1
Tell me about that one guy that never got the tone of the game.
Delta Green.
>"I take a pic with my phone"
>"I take a pic of this"
>"I take a pic of that"
>"I take a pic of everything"
>bitches that the pics make him lose SAN or even fuck up his phone
>"We deal with things like the one you just burned, to protect mankind. We're with the government. Come join us. One chance. Think wisely."
>the thing in question made him adapted to violence and switch to fight-or-flight mode two times in one session
>motivation: "defend his country"
>"But what's in it for us?"
>there's a loudly clicking geiger counter on a table
>"I pick it up and proceed further."
>"What do you mean I lose CON?"
>"I couldn't do anything, bullshit! I had a geiger counter! Why didn't you warn me?"
>"Of course I tell the therapist the truth. I need that SAN."
>"I want a Kriss Super V!"
>"I want a full set of SWAT armor!"
>"I want a sniper rifle!"
>"I dual-wield my pistols!"
>"Can I play as a mage? No? Not even a psychic?"
>"So this is a Vietnam War campaign? Cool! I want to play as a voodoo priest from Louisiana who's a an FBI occult expert!"
Victorian Era Mage the Awakening
>I want to play a woman
>She's young, unmarried, independent, and knows Kung Fu
>She acts cutesy and thinks she's super endearing
>Hey GM, I want to go out and buy knuckle dusters, personally
>Of course I have my own money, who doesn't?
>I'm obviously going to have my own Dojo, in London
>Oh, he was rude to me? I'm going to break his arm, to teach him a lesson
>I want to join the Sentinels, and the best way to do follow them around and punch people for them

That Guy thread? That guy thread.
Besides biological necessity and religious/cultural custom, what would be a plausible reason for a character to wear fully-enclosing clothing at all times?
>>52525864
Paranoia
Distrust
Desire for aesthetics
>>52525864
Permanent danger of their body (de)compressing to death.

Anonymity, privacy, values the ability to have control over every aspect of their appearance
>In 5E, play as one half of a two-headed ogre, a Warlock that supports his Barbarian "brother" with buffs, ranged spells and the like
>In a space-based freeform, play a 7ft tall non-humanoid crystalline alien that resembles a ball made up of seven shapeshifting semi-molten green-black tentacles, that "knows" medicine/treatment for organics through replicating the motions of a doctor it used to hang out with, and has little concept or desire outside of MAKE FRIEND
>Want to play a legion-like undead entity or sentient mimic in an upcoming campaign
I'm worried that I might be That Guy.

>I'm worried that I might be That Guy.
All depends on how you play it my friend. Also on how concerned the group is with "balance." The ideas you are pitching could easily break a combat focused game, but could MAKE a role play focused one.

Considering all of his ideas are video game characters isn't a good mark on him.
One of my players is three sheets deep in monster race backups for his 31 AC lizardman fighter and counting. It can always be worse
This guy walks into the tavern and slaps the female NPC's ass. Then he apologized and says that he accidentally caused harm. What do?
That movie fucking sucked.
Nekron-99! Why aren't you at your post?
Kill it off 2/3rds through the movie and make the rest of it suck.
I like Wizards. But damn.
Why was Horus the favorite of the Emperor? He wasn't the strongest, Angron, Russ, Magnus or Sanguinius was. He wasn't the smartest, Gulliman, or Perturabo were. He wasn't the most magical, Magnus, Lorgar or Russ was. He wasn't the most loyal obviously... Why was Horus chosen as the warmaster?
>>52524978
Closest to a true clone of the Emperor rather than all the mutants that became the other primarchs.
>>52525030
False. Fabulous Bill said that Rogal Dorn was "closest to the source"
>>52524978
Horus wasn't the absolute best at anything but he was well rounded and beloved by all his peers (with the exception of Corax).
Terrain thread. Idk what happened to the old one.
Post ideas, tutorials, links, pics of your terrain and just terrain you really like.
Also full boards and awesome dioramas are welcome.

Given a lul in-between campaigns I've had a think about a setting in the Warhammer 40k universe that I think hasn't been touched upon to a great extent, and one which, not I've sunk my claw into it, I wish to explore more and more. This setting, is the Unification of Terra.
As the glitteringly savage Thunder Warriors march from the depths of the Emperor's underground labs, resplendant in golden armour, ready to rip Terra from the wretched, corrupt hands of the techno-barbarian states. To be faced with endless hordes of mind-slaved enemy footsoldiers battling through the carcass' of the cities left behind after the Old Night, archeotech weapons carving lightning and darkfire blasts through the air. All to reunite the world for the glory of the Master of Mankind Himself.
Rhetoric aside, I was inspired by pic related, and while I understand it's fan-made and probably not entirely canon, I can't pass up the chance to explore this 'possible timeline' So far I've almost completed a base-outline for the Ursh Empire (Seeing as that'd be the first place that would be invaded thanks to them surrounding the Himalayan Fortress) And I've got a vague idea of how to stat up a Thunder Warrior, but I thought I'd put the idea to the floor and see if anyone wanted to trade notes, inform or contribute in some constructive way.
Now I understand that there are rules for Mk1 Power Armour in the Rites of Battle book, they also mention in notation that both the strength bonus given, and the weight of the armour vary. The former, depending on the specific use the suit had, and the latter on how much leg armour was given. But what would cause such variation? Were there different varients of suits for different kinds of Thunder Warrior? I didn't even think there were any variations on the standard "I get in close and kill shit" kind of Thunder Warrior.
Makes me wonder about the kind of vehicles and tech the TW armies had avaliable to them as well, since I can't find anything on it myself.
I will admit it's a lot of fun world-building considering there's so little fluff to go off of. Vague mentions of certain nation-states, leaders and locations gives me a lot of freedom, but I thought it's be fun to let you guys wade in on the subject itself as well.
Are you talking like... a homebrew modification similar to 30K?
Except, y'know. 29K. Or something

My players love taking 5mins to roleplay cooking and feasting during their long rests! They have a Halfling Rogue who is a good cook, and I'll often give them small buffs and some Temporary hit points on a good cooking utensils check. I even have ingredient ranks so the higher ranked the ingredients the better the buffs and Temp HP.

I strongly suspect my GM is planning on having my all magic diet come back to bite me in the ass, but acting on that suspicion would be meta gaming so I just keep doing it.

Alright, so here's the story:
>Was helping a friend build his Pathfinder world
>Spot a few warhammer fantasy boxes, ask about it. He paints the models and uses them for display, mostly.
>He explains that he has 'a small' warhammer 40k army he never finished, asks me if I want it.
>Never played W4k before, but I've always been interested in starting, the price scared me off.
>We agree to a trade, and he drops a box full of these things on my lap.
Now I know that the rules set he used is drastically out of date, so I know that, if I wanted to play I'd at least need a new one of those.
Now I'm wondering what I should do with all of these; do you guys think I have enough units to play? Should I just sell it all and be happy with the profit? Should it all just sit on my shelf like my mageknight army?
I took several pictures, this first one is of (I think) Dark Eldar units, they're plastic. More pics to come.
>>52522563
More Dark Eldar, except these ones are metal.
>>52522610
Scorpion horse things, an Eldar on a throne (all metal), and busted spiky speedbikes (plastic)
>>52522635
From what I can tell, these two metal guys in the front are Space Wolves, whereas the things in the back are Slaanesh demons. Or crab people. All metal.
