I cant decide between these two chess sets.

On the one hand, the more expensive set is more aesthetically pleasing to me. The pieces are skinnier which would make them easier to move around and not bump into other pieces. They are also a little more unique.
But there is something to be said about standardized pieces. The cheaper set has pieces that look like every other chess set you've ever seen. Perhaps familiar pieces would be less daunting to people I play with. It is cheaper. I could almost buy 2 of the cheaper set for the price of the 1 fancier set.
They are both folding magnetic, and 15" in size.
>>52567830
Most important is the contrast between btw whute and black squares (you want balance between softness and clarity).
Imo the more standard the pieces the better.
The ratio of piece size to square size. Square length should be comparable to the heigth of a rook.
Left set is better on all three.
>square numbers
unnecessary and distracting
>magnetic piecespatrician
>>52567830
>Perhaps familiar pieces would be less daunting to people I play with.
Do you play with literal retards incapable of functioning in society?
>>52567957
You don't think that the contrast is better on the right set?
square numbers are also useful for people watching on the sidelines for discussion.
I will most likely get the left set but I want to hear more opinions.

Were the Tyranid made by the Old Ones to wipe the galaxy?
>>52567268
No.
>Old ones actually loved seeding new worlds with life, making one to leave the galaxy empty makes no sense
>Necrons can sense "old one" tampering in the tau, but not tyranids
>Nothing suggests a link
>Old lore states nids have been around since almost the start of the universe
>More recent lore states they have consumed multiple galaxies
My idea: The Tyranids are old ones that travelled to another galaxy and were consumed by an alien parasite.
>>52568360
What why? Why would a parasite consuming a frog man make the tyranids?

Any other DMs out there just DM for a bunch of DMPCs? Think of the pros:

So we need to DM for a bunch of Waifu DMPC's?
What exactly does lawful and chaotic represent?
I understand its just a mentality kind of thing, not to be taken too seriously.
But people can't even agree on what it means to be either lawful or chaotic, it still doesn't make sense.
Well, it's not "how you act" or "whether you have a code", that's for sure.
Separate the alignments according to 1st word and 2nd word.
1st Word: "Outer Perspective" Your view/goal of how society should be.
2nd Word: "Inner Perspective" Your basic personal moral convictions.
Therefore, if you're "Chaotic Good," you have a personal moral compass for good. However, you're against "the man," and oppose all societal laws. You may join an unlawful riot if you feel it's the right thing to do. But that's okay, the party Paladin will pass the hat and bail you out of jail.
The real confusion is what "Chaotic Neutral" means. I take the hardline approach that it's a form of insanity. I generally don't like the type of player that chooses CN, and usually force them to roll a random D8 or flip a coin for every personal or group decision. If they don't like it, they can pick another alignment.

You might get some answers in the 40k rpg general.
I'm in a BC game right now, getting close to the end. Pic very related.
same guy as >>52566192
This is my only experience with BC so far, and I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, the potential for shenanigans is extremely high, especially if your DM doesn't put strict limits on what you can and cannot get away with. On the other hand, Sorcerers are unbelievably broken and quickly become overpowered cheese monsters that can do anything better than everyone else. The game in general seems poorly balanced and is really really easy to break.
What could Nurgle say to convince an Imperial fanatic to turn to chaos?
Nothing.

The next time my group plays a fantasy game, I have a pact with 4 out of our 5 players that on the day of the first session we're all going to bring a Paladin without informing the DM.
no but in the game i'm in now everyone is a dark elf
>>52563006
I once played an all-thieves game with 1e AD&D back in the day. It didn't last long, but I remember it being fun. We all picked different specialties and put our points in them.
Lemme think, it's been a long time, so the details are a bit foggy. I do remember I played a second story man, with most of my points in climbing, with a little in picking locks
I sucked at stealth, so my job was to get up onto this mansion's balcony and attach a rope for the others, and pick the lock on the door while they were climbing up.
I think we had cased it the night before? I remember we were inside ransacking the upstairs while the fat lord was off at a play or something, when a nightwatchman we weren't aware of came down a hallway and spotted one of the other guys and blew a whistle before anybody could stop him. We all ran. The other guys slid down the rope en masse while me and our bruiser tried to fend off the watchman. I got hurt pretty bad but my buddy eventually clocked the dude and he slipped down, too. I went last in case anybody started to cut the rope, since I had the best chance of getting down without it. I think there was a brief fight in the courtyard with some of the owner's house guards?
It ended with us having to book it through the streets hauling our loot in big bagsmarked SWAGover our shoulders, city watch in pursuit.
I don't recall us ever doing a second session, though we talked about it a few times. We were having trouble with schedules around then.

Nope.

I suppose they could.

He'd probably be a touchy subject among the other paladins, but so long as he doesn't break the laws his god gave him he's fine.
