I'm trying to make a table of cosmetic mutations for a goofy homebrew game, but I've hit a wall. Could you dudes help me out some?

Just saying, posting what you already have might help spur interest.

Look up Shadow of the Demon Lord and steal the random table from the Goblin Ancestry.
>players come into games without having read the rulebook
>they get all mad and blustery when you told them they should have read it
Where the fuck does this mindset come from? And I'm not talking about memorizing every single chart, statblock and reference table, but when players forget simple shit like what a bonus is, or how basic skill checks work, and when you ask them why, they said they didn't read the rulebook.
Why are players so lazy? And where is this entitlement coming from?
>>55204766
Did you have a session zero? Did you talk to them about expectations and system knowledge? Maybe they thought this would be an introductory game and the first session would be you helping them go over rules. This could have been avoided by just asking them if they know the system and going from there like an adult.
>>55204766
It's because of lot of newcomers to TTRPGs mistake the role of GM as rule master instead of someone who facilitates the game. So while a GM should of course have an in depth, if not complete, knowledge of the rules of whatever system they're running and answer the inevitable questions their players have, many players think this means they don't need to read the rules themselves and can just rely on the GM to help them or easily pick up the game as they go.
>>55204766
They think it's a videogame and they can get quick entertainment with zero effort
They think the GM is the one that takes care of everything and they just enjoy the experience
What a piece of junk

>humans, elves, dwarves, orcs and goblins all live in the same kingdom with no laws against miscegenation
>It's not overrun with mutts and half-breeds
>>55204188
Maybe they are distinct species? That's the way I like to play it.
>>55205983
This. In our setting each race is a separate species and are incapable of interbreeding, though all descend from a common ancestor. DM hates halfbreeds and probably started that to stop players making "snowflake" characters.
>>55205983
Same, except humans and elves, and I kind of regret leaving that one in.
Also most people find other races sexually unattractive.
Dwarves might fit themselves into metal working type industries, and elves might make good special forces soldiers or something, but in a modern era setting, where could centaurs fit in?
domesticated pets
>>55204156
Extinct.
>>55204156
They're a proxy of steppe nomads. They barely fit into modern society, and they're overly proud of the fact they owned the world at one point, have a pretty strong culture, however their countries aren't that relevant because the traits that raised them to be steppe nomads does not contribute well to modern society
Also I guess the Chinese probably carry quite a few horse like features themselves now.
What would the discovery of a new continent bring to a fantasy setting? How would you approach it for a setting featuring it?
>>55204100
New commodities, magic, races, and diseases exclusive to that continent
>>55204100
Path of Exile is pretty good with this shit.
Primitive indigenous peoples, forgotten magic, adventurers looking for shit to loot, prisoners exiled to colonize a hostile shit hole, powerful mcguffins to race the BBEG to hidden deep in the territory, an active slave trade, rampant piracy to accompany the lawlessness and wealth.
Best age to set things is the age of discovery, kings are made, empires rise/fall and people gain power, money and fame (or infamy) over night.

Also no maps and the nearest authority is literally half a world away.
What little power the old world does have here actually encourages you to be a amoral douchebag and turns a blind eye to the rape, murder and plunder of the world around you because you got to trade with someone and they want to keep their beaks wet.

I need to move away from 40k for a bit after painting too many marines, trying to decide between getting the fyreslayers start collecting or the barrow lords. I already have an old whfb dwarf army so the fyreslayers would be good except I can only either ally with them or Ironweld for artillery or give up the alliegence ability. The barrow lords looks like a cool faction but they seem under powered and don't have many models so I'm not sure what to do. any ideas?
A returning chaos player here. What happened to all of the named characters in the compendiums? Does this means I can't take wulfrik as wulfrik and his drakar?
what will the fate of Slaanesh be?
Can anyone recommend a good system to run a campaign based around Twin Peaks (the original series, not The Return)?
Textbook case of Delta Green.
>>55203162
Or Unknown Armies but with the PCs being normal people rather than mancers or adepts of any kind. The people they have to deal with are mancers and adepts and archetypes.
But use UA1 not UA3.

Salutations to all members of this Branch. We are currently experiencing "technical difficulties", and as a direct result of this, several encrypted files of importance have been lost. Many of our normal procedures will likely be placed on hold until we can retrieve the lost files.
In other news, we are also currently trying to deal with the spread of a bunch of bio-engineered flying pigs. As a rexult of this, quite a few of our assets may be unavailable for some time. Aside from that, proceed on with your day as normal. Thank you for listening.Welcome to the Bureau. Please, feel free to pick a name and join. All (potential) conflicts will be resolved through rolls of a d20. This Message Does Not Exist.

Let's talk about heraldry. How do you apply it to fantasy settings? What are the rules for making one? How different should it be among the different kingdoms?
>>55202401
heraldry is cool and all but if you want to apply it to fantasy you're looking at a lot of freedom. Really the rules are whatever you want to make them, just be sure to stick to them once they're in place.
>>55202401
>Slogans sometimes
>Whatever goes on the shilled isn't necessarily the same as the tabbard or pregnant or anything else, but always follows the same color scheme
>>55202401
As >>55205263 said, the rules can be whatever as long as you stay by them. Consistency is key in worldbuilding.
But what I'd bear in mind is that heraldry is a personal symbol, it's declaring something. So if your character is lord of a particular place, you'd want to tie his heraldry to its coat of arms. This can get pretty large (see pic) especially bearing in mind it isn't just what they own, but what they claim to own. There's also symbols to bear in mind, usually animals. For this sort of thing it helps to build your culture from the ground up, filling in these bits first before you begin to create the more advanced parts. My example here is the House of Lusignan whose mythological founding is from a water dragon spirit, hence use of mermaids and dragons in heraldry (or so wikipedia tells me). Basically think about local folklore first then use it to influence your fantasy's art, names of pubs, heraldry, etc.
A personal coat of arms also has to distinguish you from other members of your family through use of crosses, barries, and party per somethings and so on. I know very little about this, but there's certainly a book or online article you can read.
Being informed and consistent is the best way to worldbuild. Most people (inc. me) don't put in all the effort, which is why using real world examples and rules is easiest. That's what I'd recommend.
Is starfinder worth a look? Also space character thread.

Is bringing snacks/buying beer/paying for the pizza part of the GM's duty as host (assuming GMs are normally the hosts) or is it the players' duty to pay for the GM's hard work?
Neither.

Finally decided to get into 40k my dudes, and after a quick roll in the general, my first army will be Sisters of Battle.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Sisters_of_Battle_Order_Creation_Tables
Here's the table. I'll do the first roll.
Rolled 5 (1d10)
So, to start off, what was our order derived from?
>>55201346
Order of the Ebon Chalice. Neat.
Would a kind anon like to help me out by rolling a dice?
d10 for why we were founded.
Rolled 5 (1d10)

Rollin for why it was founded

To keep this from becoming /tesg/ minus waifus, don't post memes unless you are also posting quality discussion. Especially if it's not even Elder Scrolls related.

Someone explain his argument to me, so I can be sure I have it right. Currently, it seems absurd.
1. Merry Eyesore, the Elk was a kirkbride nickname.
2. Elks have antlers.
3. Kirkbride is associated with vivec
4. An ad buy mentioned a popular zone in TESO called vivec's antlers
???
5. Therefore, c0da is canon.
