>It was a 350+ page rule book full of stuff that only ever applied once ina blue moon, but that you could never actually find when the situation popped up and you actually needed to work your way through it.
Which is better than having to print out an FAQ?
>Hit allocation was pages worth of computer programming style "if-then-else" statements.
That despite that is pretty simple; defender puts hits out, can't prioritise stuff at long range or that'd get FP checks. Optionally you can prioritise guns or try and prioritise a specific tank.
That said, I don't mind TY's rules, but in TY platoons are either infantry or largely homogenous, and everyone having mission tactics made sense. It doesn't for a period where some nations didn't even issue radios.
>Assaults were poorly explained and difficult to carry out correctly.
Also fairly simple; things within 8" are involved, move stuff closest to closest. And now we've got a trainwreck of an assault phase that means it's barely ever worth doing, so this is a strong disagreement.
>Artillery was often something I or my opponent had to double check on occasion.
Artillery is basically the same but skill and tohit swapped places, ranging in makes less sense and everyone has mike target.
>We'd constantly forget about having to do specific checks at specific times.
End phase, check to see if stuff runs away, starting step, check to unpin/remount. Now we've got TY's morale rules and a remount phase that means non-kill results are worthless, as well as dramatically reducing the vulnerability of reluctant teams since you only test once a turn.
>It was complicated. An improvement over what came before (I don't even want to think about V2 assaults), but still complicated.
Infinity is complicated. Malifaux is complicated. V3 was simple, TY was probably as simple as it could get (and was already sneaking into the territory of "too loose for playability"), and V4's
V3 was NOT simple...
I agree, it's not Challenger but Version 3 had a thing where rules could be used against you in some situations. Especially mean if one doesn't own the book about SuperSchutzenGrenadierPanzerjagerKompanie 666 that fought on the 9th of december 1944 at 6:15 until 8:23 am.

Thread Question:
Tell us about the nature of evil in your setting. Is it a tangible, measurable force or social construct? Is it black-and-white or relative and situational? How did evil arise in the universe? Is there an ultimate evil being like Satan or Morgoth? Where do the souls of evildoers go? What are some notable evil individuals or organizations?
Evil can be many things but if your looking for pure evil, its the foreign virus that infects the eternal wound of the world.
Tell me your thoughts on my setting's religions:
"The Church of the Maiden is the most popular faith in Athene. It's monotheistic, worships a goddess known as the Maiden of Light, and it's somewhat similar to Roman Catholic Christianity aesthetically and hierarchically, though with far less actual dogma. The Maiden is an exceptionally benevolent goddess that mainly teaches compassion and the sanctity of life. Other than in Carysia, it's the most popular religion in the rest of Athene."
"Adrasteanism is a religion based on the teaches of the ancient philosopher and sage Adrastea, who led a rebellion against Old Altisia and killed off some of the old gods. It's an ascetic faith which is rigorously atheistic, the chief platform of its dogma is that "There are no gods, no masters." That said, Adrastea is known to be real, and if not divine, at least immortal, and she has carved out an afterlife for her followers, which is also widely believed to be real."
"Kantor was one of the Four Great Emperors of the past, who was also an extremely knowledgeable mage. In order to thwart some unknown catastrophe, he sacrificed himself, but his power was such that he did not truly die. Instead, his essence diffused into the very fabric of the world. Kantorists believe that this was his apotheosis, and they erect shrines in nature to worship and give thanks. A shrine to Kantor can range from something as simple as a rope enclosing some trees to an elaborate temple complex. Space, and the arrangement of objects within it, is believed to have critical importance by Kantorists."

>Tell us about the nature of evil in your setting. Is it a tangible, measurable force
No, nor could it be. Evil is the term used to describe things that are considered inappropriate according to a particular moral framework,as it necessarily always is.

How much would the world improve if we purged the chaotic evil races?
>>52790620
For the most part, not much. The types of races that you speak of spend much of their time and energy fighting amongst themselves and each other, and usually compete with more organized evils over the same resources and terrains.
Certainly they raid and pillage the goodly races, and commit murder, rape, and enslavement upon them.
Trying to get rid of this is shortsighted, because these tend to be sporadic, and ensure that the goodly races have proper defenses, with a strong military and a tradition of militia, which are what allow them to resist and survive when once every blue moon some great evil leader unites many of the evils and then tries to take over the world.
Outward enemies also tends to unite the goodly races and prevent internal strife. Their focus on evils that are more absolute and cannot be bargained with ensure that they can see more of the similarities than the differences between the goodly races and thus ensures more of the world is peaceful and prosperous.
>>52790620
Can they be tamed, domesticated, enslaved? Purging? I think we can do better. I propose to run a breeding program designed to get rid of undesirable traits and leave only those that suit us.
>>52790905
I wanted to type something up but this is pretty close. Small amounts of evil ensure that there's a united, mostly peaceful front ready to fight back. Without them it would degrade into largely petty wars between the good.
What non-evil causes would cause sapient skeletons to rise from the dead?

>>52787429
65 million years ago a mighty tyrannosaurus, long in tooth and claw, quilted with scars from innumerable battles, skin a pallid grey after decades of a long and proud life spent ruling all he surveyed, fin all laid down his head for the last time. He twisted his eye up towards the ancient sky above him and passed quietly away as he stared at its banner of twinkling stars.
The earth swallowed up his mighty corpse and it was drawn deep into the fiery bowels of stone. Unfathomable pressure and unimaginable heat pressed in from all around, and over the mellinia the mighty beast was twisted and transformed, the great bulk of his muscled form transmuted by the crushing fire beneath us into a refined and distilled solid concentration of the power hidden within.
In the modern era there are new lords of the earth. Creatures that rule all they survey not by right of their fearsome strength, but by dint of their wondrous machines and vast organizations. These creatures tore open the ribs of the very planet that gave them life to extract that congealed essence of the titan who teed these lands long before. It would be cast into the fires of their industry, used to call forth the power of lightning, once the domain of the gods, but now merely the blood of their vast army of machines.
And you used that electricity to make this fucking post.

Bumpin with a few of my own
So I'm going to be running a game in the early 70's soon. One problem. Never done drugs, and the players will most certainly have access to drugs at some point.
Big ones that I know they would have access to
>Weed
>LSD
I would imagine weed just chills you out a bit and might make you a bit hungrier. Odds are they would be trying this stuff for the first time so I might make them test to not act like a jackass on it but other than that it would be pretty tame.
LSD on the other hand, I have no idea what that actually does to people. I've heard everything from just slightly exaggerates your senses and what you perceive to full on hallucinations and bad trips.
I have some ideas of how I can make these work in my favor for potential plot points but I want to make sure I'm not just completely wrong on how this stuff works before I set my plans in place. Also if anyone knows of other good things I can tempt the players with I'm all ears. I already know how booze works so I'm set there, but other than that I've never really fooled with any of that stuff.they would be GI's in Vietnam by the way
>>52798307
I took ever so slightly decayed LSD once. Mild hallucinations (largely light trails, etc), but I was more palpably aware of the world around me than I had been in years. My judgement wasn't particularly impaired, though; the things that were not real were obviously not real, and the overwhelming reality of the things that were far outweighed them. It was an interesting experience, and I'd enjoy taking fresher, more potent LSD some time.
>>52798307
It would depend on the person. You should make whatever the equivalent of a constitution saving throw in your game and determine the level of severity there, where the worst possible roll ends up being a nightmarish trip and the best roll would be a rather pleasant, if rather trippy experience.
Speaking of systems, what are you using to run that game?
>>52798307
I mean, different strains of weed do different things. Some do chill you out and give you that traditional "stoner archetype". Others make you feel like you wanna just get up and go for a jog or clean your house. You could have them roll a die or flip a coin to see what kind of strain they've bought and then tell them to roleplay their character in that fashion for the next in-game hour or so. If you feel like making it complicated, you could do some kind of CON test equivalent based on how often a character smokes/vapes/eats stuff with THC in it to come up with some kind of tolerance factor.
Another drug they'd have had easy access to in the 70s would've been coke, even though that has a rep as being more of an 80's drug. They'd also be able to get their hands on Quaalude, which was pretty much -the- "dancing at the club" drug before ecstacy came along.

out of combat I want them to have more in built ways to solve puzzle encounters. And you've used that picture too often it's too common.
