Never played this, want to try it out for the first time.

Which version should I go with? SNES? GBA? Patched ROM?

I'd like to experience it in a as vanilla as possible way. I'd be playing the SNES version, but I've noticed that a lot of people say that it has some pretty game breaking late-game stuff, and the translation is kinda bad. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Patched GBA Rom with the fixed Damage Percentages, the nude Goddess patch, the torture scene patch, and the Soundtrack overhaul.

FFVI objectively the best game (Objectively here meaning entirely subjective, but I'll argue autistically about it.
>>
>>52903874

Can I find a fully patched rom for download, or should I go after each patch individually?
>>
>>52903903
Romhacking.net will have all the patches you need, and Lunar IPS for the patching. These mods may not all be compatible at once, so you have to apply them, possibly in a specific order, to test it.

>Organization based off or references the Spanish Inquisition or Matthew Hopkins
>Religious zealots who worship their specific god/pantheon
>Are either against specific types of magics thats heretical or illegal, or they simply outright hate magic and will kill and hunt down every single magic user ever
>the ones that hunt down and fight against magic users and wizards, yet DO NOT utilize magic at all to combat magical foes, instead utilize muh faith to the god(s) and silver shit

How do you deal with such an not!Spanish Inquisition organization in your setting or campagin. Especially if you play as a magic user or "Witch?"

Also how the hell can you take such people seriously in such a magical fantasy world? Like I mentioned; they may hate ALL magic even the ones that are beneficial to life and is helpful. But when having to deal with the bad magic or magical enemies they won't use or utilize magic and will just further blaming magic-stuff for heresy and unfaithfulness.

Enlighten me, who may or may not be a "heretic."

they're basically the IRS.
Except with non-religion, they search you, they find you and demand you start paying taxes and pretend to give up your religion.

They're also lousy at killing people and overall pretty chill for what equates to the IRS/Secret Police. Everyone thinks they're mean and eat children (they don't deny this either).

Alternative, go for murderhobo/psychopath combo like anima, warhammer (both), black legend, etc...

What magic system is in use, first of all?

Witch hunters work in WFRP because the nature of magic is typically so large. It's not an everyday thing like it is in D&D.

Fantasy Craft is a bit wonky and very crunchy but still generally fun.

Depends on what you're looking for, I'm currently on a RuneQuest/Basic Roleplaying kick (classless, levelless, no-point buy)

FantasyAge also has some nice features (stunts leap to mind)

If you're of an old-school bent, Tunnels & Trolls is classic and certainly not d&d

how does your setting handle gladiators and other bloodsports? Does everyone flip shit when the imperator/priest-king/president announces the yearly circus maximus events or is it slowly being outlawed by puritans?

It has recently been uncovered by the Eldar Harlequins that Nurgle is in possession of the Eldar Goddess Isha (whom he rescued from Slaanesh's imprisonment), and imprisoned her within his realm in the Warp. Nurgle "utilizes" her for his "experiments", creating new contagions and diseases to spread into the material universe.

That when the Wizard was used against the Witch King the latter got to take a set of magic cards from the former which lead to intense butthurt for whoever was already playing as the most useless character.

Now that Jacepact is off playing hooky from his full time job, what's stopping the guilds from going full post-dissolution scheming again? Nothing, that's what. So who's the most epic-level guild right now, and why?
> Rakdos likely waking daddy
> Gruul can't be pact-arrested
> Selesnya can convert people with brainwashing since Jace isn't stopping it
> Azor is forever cucked
> Dimir is on like 5 or 6 layers of plans right now my dude
> Izzit says they are like a little baby, watch this
> Golgari sweeping up the pieces and turning it into zombie armor while building endpact army
> Orzhov probably has debts on all of them
> Simic is most likely building KrasisKraj
> Boros knows where we all live and has 100000 goblins posted there.

So /tg/, who's got this one in the bag? What sort of dastardly plot can you see the guilds planning in the future?

I need inspiration for my campaign and I normally show monsters and creatures around the cultures which I based on real life ones.
It makes the world feel consistent.

What''s this?

Rumpelstiltskin offers you a deal: in exchange for a wish, giving you anything you want, all he wants is a story.

The wish will not be a Monkey's Paw: it'll be just what you want in the spirit rather than in the letter, though it's entirely possible (likely even) that you will ultimately find out that you never wanted it at all.

The story will be whatever fictional bout of imagination is consuming your - and only your - mind the most right now. Something with true potential for something great, that you could well have put to use one day - a Magnum Opus to be, even, perhaps. It will be simply sapped out of your mind, forever forgotten and never regained.

Say that epic fantasy novel you've been running through your head, maybe written half a draft of, never got around to show anyone else? Or an awesome campaign idea you were about to throw at your friends the next time you were to GM something? Or the character you've always wanted to play yet never got around to? A video game or a movie, perhaps, if you were so inclined, talented, and connected? It's gone now. You'll never even know what you lost.

Would you take up on this bargain? If so, what would you ask in return?

To experience said story, without any author foreknowledge of it.

Face it, if I think that it's an awesome story as an author - I will think it's awesome as a viewer.
Your move, Story Devil.

When you look at the very oldest ruins and the most ancient - optionally advanced/decadent - races behind the depths of any fantasy setting, typically one of these three turns out to be behind it:

>Elves came first. Soon after dwarves and a bunch of other standard fantasy races followed. Occasionally dragons may have been the oldest, but usually it's elves. Men are the young upstart race: none of their greatest victories or fuck-ups can compare to those that came before.
>Men came first. Humankind is the baseline, the monkey that got smart, out of whom the others - elves, dwarves, orcs - split into their own thing, usually helped on by some ancient wizards with no sense of right or wrong. The current kingdoms and nations are just the latest in a very long chain of rises and falls.
>Horrors from beyond the stars came first. When the universe was young they came and propagated and likely fucked around with the undeveloped primordial slime that would once become the modern races. To look upon their ruins is to go mad. Worst case scenario, they still sleep there, slumbering. That is no dead which can eternal lie...

Which of these three do you prefer? Which one does your own homebrew setting, or your favorite published one, go with?

>Which of these three do you prefer?
The third. I'm a sucker for horrors from beyond the stars.

>Which one does your own homebrew setting, or your favorite published one, go with?
My setting: Dragons came first, fuck all y'all niggas.

Favorite published setting: The progenitor races (avians, shapechangers, serpents, and the fey; sarrukh best race) came first, then dragons and giants happened, then elves happened, then finally everyone else sorta happened. It's actually a little complicated, as the Realms so often is.
