I think saying its THE main difference is a biy much. Films are planned and (usually) have a rigid structure with very little coming "off the cuff". In addition we only get to see the best cuts and takes. Where in ttrpgs its all one take and the "audience" has an actual say in what happens.

Regardless, I think having one way to do it isn't to show the group what bbeg is doing RIGHT NOW, but rather some note/passage of what they did. Could be notes they took in wizard school, tales of younger days from a past friend, or if you want to be blunt, a burning village. Of course all that is more to show how they got to where they are, and doesnt give you much in the way of time sensitive stuffs.

Thinking on it, part of the issue might be fantasy settings not having the "tech" to get information around fast enough for it to be a tool a GM can reliably use without being very silly (patron god just shows the party whats up, but is powerless to intervene or just teleport the party there). Maybe in a more modern setting you could do news casts, but even then jt sounds like it would mostly be "look at the burning village".

Basically what this anon said. Instead of giving a page of exposition, have the BBEG's actions evident. Have players see traces of their handiwork, or talk to witnesses.

IE there's a clear scene that happened, which the players can now piece out. Here it's more immediate to their characters though, not metagame knowledge, and they have the added engagement of finding out those little stories themselves.

The flat is only for parry. Even when ramming you want to hit with the border as it allows the most force and if used correctly you can prevent some attacker.

No. If you're putting your weight behind a shield its very easy to get behind you. It also binds your arms. The only time you would push with the flat of your shield is in a shield wall. In single combat it would be a death sentence.

Yes, both in terms of being nearly invisible to Daemons, not tasty, and very resilient to corruption due their adherence to the Greater Good.

They are less visible and less enticing to Chaos.

They are no harder to corrupt than your average Eldar or Marine. Probably easier, actually, since they generally have superhuman willpower. They ARE, however, more resilient to reeducation into Chaos than your average human, as The Greater Good is one helluva drug.

They mutate under the touch of Chaos and burn in psychic fire just as easily as anyone else.

Probably not, as all of those things would require there being no kings or nobility.

Well I was planning on running things at the end of the era of Monarchy, basically elves and human kingdoms have become more democratic and eventually some revolutions have happened that the players can interact with (still working on that part) all the while they will try to contend with a Napoleon type figure who is building an empire.

Was thinking of having a mixed Human, Elven Communist state but I am still working my way though that.

To further clarify, I'm not bashing net decks, every card game obviously has those. But with how old MtG is, I'm wondering if there's a good chance someone can make a deck or variation of a deck not seen before and win something significant with it.

If you're willing to play different magic formats I think Commander/EDH would be exactly what you're looking for.

It's format dependant. If you want your deck tk have the best chance then brewing standard / modern is the way to go. Not to say that legacy / vintage are "figured out" but occasionally peoples weird per decks put up showing and become "real" decks like Lantern Control for instance.
