Deck of Many Things: Epic or cancer?
Yes.
Fucking awful. The death of campaigns, far too random and generally badly designed.
Although saying that, the 4e version was actually pretty awesome, even if it significantly changed the nature of the thing, it did stick to the core ideas decently well.
>>53003300
cancer.
Help me /tg/ I need to win this. Need a path to victory with black and it's whites turn.
>>53003156
Why do you need to win it so badly that you're willing to cheat?
>>53003156
We can't help you when it's not your turn.

Nigga post the board on your turn
It's the start of a new week and that means that it's time to tell /tg/ what you did in last week's session. Regale us with your tales of heroism (or villainy).
Formal ball turned into free for all blitz when fairies attack. My character ended up getting mind controlled and shooting a bunch of important ladies. Party necromancer is up to no good.
>>53002755
Didn't have one.
Though with any luck, I'll be leading the ranger and the NPC we're escorting into the mountains this week. I just hope the frost trolls don't get mad at us. I'm a possible intermediary, but... the spell lists that the shaman have are really nasty.
If this thread is still up tomorrow I should be able to update.
>>53002755
Got into shady dealing with a rogue Illithid.
Paladin did blood sacrifices.
Monk dropped bars.
The warlock watched awkwardly.
Recently lost my phone and all the awesome art I've managed to save from this board over the past year. Couldn't find an art thread on the catalog, so I figured I'd start one up. Post landscapes, character art, monsters, anything so long as its enjoyable to look at.
Reminder that not all undead are bad. Keep your paladins and clerics in check, lest they destroy what could be a valuable asset to your party.

CLEAVE AND SMITE
SMITE AND CLEAVE
PURGE THE WICKED AND ABOMINATION
An alchemist was experimenting with a metallic ore that had Anti-Magic properties, believing he could reverse its polarity and create a rock that enhanced magical energy.
Instead, he created a new metallic ore that seemed to do nothing. But when he went to open his door, the handle wouldn't work, and the hinges were frozen shut. His matches would not light, his lamp would not burn, and his water pump would not flow. His dwarven mechanical golem would not move, though it was clearly alive with magical energy. After a while, he realized discovered Anti-Technology.
What are the applications of this?
>>53002034
Of other note, further experimentation reveals that basic tools like hammers, swords, and shields become incredibly weak and brittle. Armor cracked with ease.
>>53002034
>magically propel anti-tech pebbles near the enemy's siege equipment
>canons aren't firing
>catapults aren't swinging
>crossbows are fucked
>tents just collapse in bundles of twigs and cloth
This is good.
>and then the world ended because someone decided to make a stone that unravels the laws of physics
Good job. At least killing a whole universe would give some nice exp.
I need your help /tg/. I'm trying to explain to a dirty Brazilian monkey this rule says using armor or a shield will disqualify you from having your AC calculated the stated way.
He thinks the rule is that as long as you don't wear a shield and armor your AC is calculated the listed way.
The pic is from page 7 https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/UAMystic3.pdf
We need to know which one of us forever blown the fuck out.
Post this in the 5e general. Also you're obviously the correct one here (any combination of shield and armor will make it not work) but I don't think he's gonna agree with you. Humans are hardwired to not accept their mistakes.
>>53001829
I'm unclear on what you guys are disagreeing on. Unless you're trying to say that using a shield or armor EVER disqualifies you from the AC bonus, in which case the retard isyou.
>>53001861
>hurr durr goe too thuh genurulls
Fuck off you cocksucking shitstain
>>53002862
I'm saying:
A) using armor disqualifies him
B)using a shield disqualifies him
C) using armor and a shield disqualify him
He's saying:
I am only disqualified from this way of calculating AC if I use armor and a shield at the same.
He thinks only C matters.
I've used examples like a casino owner says "If you don't cheat or steal you can stay and gamble as much as you want."
His logic would be "I can cheat or I can steal and I'll be allowed to stay. If I cheat AND steal I'll be unwelcome. I can commit one crime and still be welcome. I'm only unwelcome if I commit both types of crime."

Thoughts?
Persinally it seems pretty much the same, the extra inch is nice, i dont like however that you can overwatch multiple times, hopefully the are going to change tau markerlights.
Also general 8th edition discussion
>>53001237
How'd you even find this? I dont see it on the community site yet.
>>53001237
>overwatch still present
>you still have two different phases in which you move your models
I don't get it
All the other changes so far were really sensible, why make such odd designchoices for melee?
>>53001237
>i dont like however that you can overwatch multiple times
It say's each unit can fire if you're charging multiples. Did it mention a single unit can overwatch more than once?
Is there any change other than the extra inch?
I wonder why they didnt bother accounting for their new movement profile overhauls, which is a big part of 8th. Seems like "movement+d6" would make more sense.
Would something like this actually be allowed in the imperium? Imagining children coloring this in grimdark makes me crack up
http://m.imgur.com/gallery/qbJaI
>>53000158
It's not for children, it's for guardsmen.
They gave these out at Adepticon with the VIG bags. I'll probably never color it.
>>53000476
>It's not for children, it's for guardsmen
And they probably give them one box of those on Sanguinmas, if the commissar feels generous.
>>53000158
Yes, absolutely. The Children of the Imperium are still Children. Except that their school constantly throws propaganda at them, and your school trips maybe are puplic executions. There is actually a other book named "Our Friend Promethium" which is a schoolbook, that offers not only informations on promethium for youngsters, but is also illustred with funny pictures of burning heretics. It is mentionend in "Caves of Ice" from Sandy Mitchell, if I remember correctly.

Warlock edition
Previously on /5eg/...

>>53000103
Warlocks are the worst cancer in this edition.
They serve no purpose beyond "My arcanist has EDGE as part of his class-fluff!" and to provide Munchkins and theory-gamers with a pacifier.
>>53000103
Let's make up some Class specific feats!
Anyone got some ideas?
>>53000125
It serves a purpose as the "magic attacker"/skill monkey that isn't long-rest dependent.
I've noticed a pretty big resurgence in the last five or so years of sandbox-style campaigns, usually either as hexcrawls or West Marches games. Less "stop the cult of Tiamat" and more "wander around the coast and find treasures."
I've seen a lot of interest in that sort of campaign lately, especially online on Roll20 and the like, but I've always seen that as the sort of thing that's easy to burn yourself out on when there's no real direction. Does anyone have good experiences with this sort of campaign?
Almost all of my campaigns are sandbox/hexcrawl affairs.
I love em.
>these are best played as classic murderhobo-style characters
>>52999974
Im running one right now.
The secret is to still have quests at the start so the players get a direction to start exploring.
Eventually theyll start exploring on their own.
Another good idea is to have various factions doing their own thing. Loke no end of the world stuff but just jockeying for resources and shit.
That way they can act and react to the achievments and fuckups of the pcs and the world becomes aliver
>>52999974
Story in media is dying. It's always the last thing they add on to a game or movie. The selling point is the flashy graphics or trademark first, story second.
Sandbox is an appropriate name because we're treated like babies, dropped in a sandbox. No story, no structure. Just flinging dirt around.
The new ultra ultramarines look kinda strange...
Holy shit

I'm the only member of my gaming group who knows how to shuffle cards like in pic related. I am the group's go-to shuffler and when I try to teach them I get excuses. Worse yet, I've noticed that *many* people, far too many who call themselves gamers even, do not know how to do it.
Anyone else surrounded by people who cannot do pic related? It can't be a skill that requires special aptitude can it? What is the deal? Please tell me that most of you can shuffle like this.
>>52999357
I do not know how to do that, no.
Just shut up and shuffle, bitch.
>>52999357
I can but would never shuffle anything other than poker cards like this for fear of bending them.
>>52999357
I wouldn't recommend shuffling like that with trading cards. Playing cards are fine, they are cheep and most of them are plastic/mostly plastic. Something like MTG and doing that will very badly scratch the cards. I guess it would be fine if you have them in sleeves, but shuffling sleeves that way is WAY harder.
And why is it Malcador the Sigilite?
Hitler existed in 40k. So my answer is Hitler.

The Emperor was literally Hitler at one point.
>black hair
>wanted to build a grand empire and take over the world
>was completely ok with genocide
>tried wiping out religion he didn't like just because
>had some good ideas but mostly a fucking dick
>he fucked it all up because he couldn't deal with people properly
>his militant followers treated him like a god
>now a half-dead corpse waiting for his chance to return
>campaign ended 6 months ago
>DM has been saying ever since he's just got to finish his other campaigns before he starts another
>His other campaigns are filled with people that go off the rails so actually finishing the campaign will never happen
Anyone else know the feeling of tfw no campaign?
Maybe you should DM your own campaign you parasite
