There always has to be a fighter equivalent, since nearly every RPG I've played is based around the idea there's at least one big guy that'll make the hoards of monsters waste their attack rolls on while the rest of the party sets up.

I play Tau, which are extremely shooty and suck balls in melee.
I also play Dark Eldar, which just suck. Sorry to be vague on this one.
However, here in about June-ish, there will be a new edition of the game, with new rules, new books, entirely new meta and rankings and everything. The game is really getting a fresh start. Because of this, all current books will become instantly obsolete, so don't buy any books, just buy models. They say that all factions should play the same, but again, we can't be too sure with an entirely new system for everything.
But what they are telling us, it all looks really good. So there's that.

considering they are both at ultra-snowflake status, it could go either way.
i would give the edge to abaddon if plot points could be overlooked (at this point has literally thousands of years combat and leading experience over guilliman) but bringing guilliman back (not to mention the whole eldar fiasco) was a blatantly obvious move towards the nobledark and i think it will end up with guilliman on top.

Vedic, Varuna and Invincible Army make me rock-hard. Core link Kamau and Zuyong are super sexy and the pure potential for bullshit in Vedic is staggering.

So let's talk Team Yankee for a second. Soviet Doctrine of this era was fairly regimented and VERY well understood by the West. If a Soviet Motor Rifle Regiment was to advance, it would first send a Combat Recce Patrol which would be followed by the Forward Security Element and then Main Body. You can find this all on Google for fuck's sake.
With this in mind, why isn't it built into Team Yankee? If WW3 happened in the 80's, you can bet that the first units that Team Yankee would encounter would be the CRP, which they would probably destroy, followed by the Forward Security Element which would try to fix them so that they could be fucked by MLRS.
So how come Team Yankee even lets you play BMP spam? That's retarded.

Leveling should exist. Leveling grants additional abilities/skills and/or proficiency in those skills as well as knacks. Leveling doesn't effect your stats in anyway. You gain exp by successful dealing with situations in the Maze, the amount of exp gained is determined by how difficult the encounter is.

Keeping in mind that HP doesn't increase, should damage from attacks and features increase?
To counteract this, higher level PC and NPC abilities should have defensive abilities to keep from high-level slaughter fests.
Should skill/talent knacks scale? At level X you gain 5*X% bonus to skill, or should there be a scaling proficiency feature? Perhaps devided skills into categories, and offer class based bonuses per level: Warriors gain 15% to attacks, 5% to skills per level, for example.
Otherwise there should be a large amount of knacks gained, with the option to re-take and specialize.
