Think about it, Nurglites are extremely durable, infected with dozens, if not hundreds, of the galaxy's worst diseases, and are fanatically obsessed with spreading them to the point of giving their lives for the chance to start a pandemic. It's impossible to defeat them in a ground war, if you enter combat with them they'll infect you and you'll either convert to Nurgle or die horribly, spreading even more disease with your corpse. They infect the water Guardsmen drink, the air they breathe, and even the ground they walk on. How do Imperial Guardsmen fight Nurglites without being infected with disease? What, if any, strategy beyond orbital bombardment triumph against not only them, but their countless trillions of microbial allies?

The IG have access to biohazard equipment and entire religious orders of medical staff willing to bleach everyone and everything inside and out.

To be good is expected; an average person is expected to meet some minimum standard of ethical and citizenly standard.
Being evil is in direct opposition to what you're supposed to be, while being better than normal is only a small shift from your nominal position.
If the scale of good and evil was something numbered from -100 to 100, with -100 being Hitler Satan McStalin, 0 being neutral selfishness, and 100 is Jesus O'Buddha, most people would be expect to sit somewhere around 15.
Going to -25 is a 40 point shift, while going to 25 is only a 10 point shift.

Not really, but it's much easier to do something evil (like, kill someone for your own pleasure) than to do good (raising someone from the dead isn't cheap and requires powerful magic).

This has nothing to do with alignments. You could argue that someone good might find it easier to forgive. Mercy is often associated with good, however righteous vengeance is also something good characters can do.
On the other hand someone lawful evil might find himself obliged to forgive due to his personal code or some sort of law. It's more of a case where alignment might give you a hint on how to act, but it's entirely up to the player how he imagines his character (maybe he cared more for his brother than his sister or the other way around, which would make (not) forgiving easier or harder)

Should be neutral, although it's kind of hard to imagine someone like that and how he could do both to not skew in one direction or the other or be seen as a lunatic

I feel like with how old D&D is, it's built up a lot of baggage. What do you feel like the worst/most harmful carry-over is?
I feel like it's the spell selection and spell acquisition in general. The fact that they're married to all these spells like "gate" and "wish" and, to a lesser degree, the staples like "color spray" and "magic missile" really restrict the space they have to design in. I remember they kind of tried to get away from it with 4e, but, you know. Maybe they got a little too far away from the core with that one. Besides that, the fact that the school of magic matters so little. I think that if Wizards had to select 2 specialty schools, and they were UNABLE to learn spells from the schools that oppose those, you'd have more interesting wizards. Especially if Evocation was made to oppose Conjuration, so access to good combat spells locked you out of power spells like Gate and Wish, or going with Conjuration made it so your wizard would have to be super creative until they got 9th level spells.
Overall, I think being married to all these whacky old spells (and magic items, to be honest) hurts the game a lot. It'd be better if the core spell selection was better designed, with a smoother curve in terms of flexibility and power and the weirder spells being inaccessible without finding them within the setting (rope trick, bigby's hand (and all the weird spells with people's name in it), and black tentacles all come to mind).
I've just been thinking about this a lot and was curious what others' thoughts were. Hopefully it's inflammatory enough to get attention.

You're a fucking idiot. Conjuration dominates Evocation in power spells hands down. What you just did was shit on Evokers by making them unable to cover their own weaknesses - when Evokers weren't even the ones breaking the game.

I need to think of a new combat type skill, on par with these others :
1 Handed Weapons
2 Handed Weapons
Simple/Thrown/Unarmed
Gunpowder Weapons
Bows & Crossbows
Dirty Fighting
The one being removed is Armour & Shields, which after play testing has been found to be not fun.
There are magic skills, but they're spell schools so if you suggest something magic related, not a spell school. Give suggestions?
