2) First and foremost, timestamp. Forgive the low quality, it was rainy and windy outside. The Magdalen Islands are often subject to harsh weather, with winds often going to over 100 km/h. This was taken on a beach near my house earlier today.

3) Just to make sure where we are. Lost in the St-Lawrence Gulf in Eastern Canada. 5 hour ferry ride to the closest land. Only accessible by ferry or plane, when the weather allows it. A long trip if you want to go anywhere, to shop, to go on vacation. To escape.

4) The Magdalen Islands are in fact an archipelago. All the islands are linked by sand dunes. A single road goes across the whole thing, sometimes surrounded by water on both side. Storms can shut an island on its own when the waves crash on the road, making it impossible for the emergency vehicles to reach a certain island. Each island then has its own village.

Speaking of, while I know Supers has some vague guidelines, SJG isn't always in touch with their actual mechanics. What makes a good general point range (say, 100pts variance or so) to do upper-street-level, lower-heroic supers? Like Worm's Undersiders, or the Avengers and Justice League's B-teams. 300-400?

Question: if the Swarmlord is a physical avatar of the Hivemind (and this being the Tyranids, it will of course be perfected to succeed in its role), shouldn't it appear as something other than a fancy, quadwielding hive tyrant here? Something more representative of the Tyranids as a whole?
My mind keeps going to something more serpentine that's still Tyrant-size, which also frees up another pair of limbs. The real reason why, though, is for some Magos to compare it to the serpent that eats its own tail from ancient Terran myth

It might not be that it's an avatar in the usual case where Macha is Isha's avatar so much as it is Mass Effect Harbinger Assuming Direct Control and this is the bug that it can do so easiest with.

For one thing there have been multiple simultaneous sightings of the Swarm Lord. It is not the Hive Mind in person so much as it is an expression of the hive mind or possibly a lumpy bit in the hive mind soup.

The Hive Mind has no central mass or nexus of consciousness anymore than a tsunami has a single froth bubble or a locust swarm has a leader.

If I ever get off my ass and create one I would try to make them one and the same. I personally always found it strange that priests have to resolve their lives to the hustle and sacrifice of their gods for miracles and then Ezekiel of the 13th circle of Dorks can do the same things because he lived in a library or some shit.

So in a setting with Gods/Supreme Beings I would make it so that all magics must come solely from them.

My favorite trap is an ornate, expensive looking chest with a single word written in some elvish language on it.
The word is usually "Rats" or "Fire" or "Death" or "Swarm"
When the chest is opened, it activates a spell exactly like the word written on the outside (ie. Rat swarm, Fireball, Power Word: Death)

90% of players will eventually open it, simply because the curiosity kills them. It plays on the meta-gaming player concept of "leave no loot unfound."

A dungeon was built by an egotistical Wizard in order to "test" Adventurers. In it, a wall with the laughing face of the dungeon's builder in the center, and a door on either side of it. The doors were ordinary looking, the carved face was doing that "Tomb of Horrors" thing where the face had a tunnel through the mouth, but they couldn't tell if it was just magical darkness or a Sphere of Annihilation.

"Choose the wisest path, adventurers. A wrong choice will lead to... DEATH!"

They decided to open both doors at once, to see if that screwed with the trap they all suspected was there. Touching the door handles triggered a teleportation trap, which dropped both characters into a different death trap. The Rogue was trapped in a room of copper and iron that kept ramping up electric shocks, and the Barbarian found himself in a room with springy wood floors that fell onto a bed of spikes whenever pressure was applied.

The lever to let them out was on the other side of the room from them. They survived, only to find a safe room behind the carved face tunnel, with the words "Only through ME is true Wisdom achieved!" carved on all the walls. I did mention the Wizard was an egotist. They fucking hated that guy, and this was BEFORE the greased stairways and Gelatinous Cubes hidden in the flooded corridors.
